00:26 reveller Writing a custom scenario plugin based on BootRuncommandDelete. Is it possible to create user (with ssh key pair) that has sudo privs? I am trying to mount a cinder volume which requires using mkfs and mount, both of which needs sudo privs.
00:59 tovin07_ joined #openstack-rally
01:13 reveller or, is there a way to tell rally to mount the cinder volume when the vm is created, as opposed to running ‘mkfs’ and ‘mount’ from an ssh session?

17:37 Yash_ Hi People
17:38 Yash_ I was wondering if there is any sample scenario in rally for token generation using keystone?
17:38 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : Yash_: hi
17:38 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : yes we have such scenario
17:39 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : http://rally.readthedocs.io/en/latest/plugins/plugin_reference.html#authenticate-keystone-scenario
17:39 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : this scenario makes an password authentication (obtain token)
17:39 Yash_ Awesome
17:39 Yash_ Thank you

17:50 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : Hello folks, I have a question regarding the results I collected from rally. It seems that running the workload for multiple times will give me results that varies in some way. Is it normal?
17:50 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shwsun it is stability of openstack
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : lol
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shwsun what scenario you are trying to execute?
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] anevenchanniy : it's varies all times -)
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : TAT
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : well, I run this for ten times. OrderedDict([('@classname', 'CinderVolumes'),
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun :              ('@name', 'create_and_attach_volume'),
17:51 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun :              ('@time', '48.25')])
17:52 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : results goes like [100.97, 122.51, 103.8, 110.11, 108.76, 120.43, 124.38, 142.79, 114.49, 113.98]
17:52 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : And I am doing some analysis on figuring out performance problems, what should i do? any suggestions?
17:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : http://rally.readthedocs.io/en/latest/quick_start/tutorial/step_11_profiling_openstack_internals.html
17:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : you can try to use osprofiler
17:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : Well that is actually what i am doing right noiw
17:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : if it is enabled in your cloud, you can launch rally and generate full trace of each iterations
17:53 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : it is the best way
17:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : I have w/ or w/o osprofiler, and I am trying to figure out the overhead
17:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shwsun just for fun - http://andreykurilin.me/trends/trends_gate-rally-dsvm-rally-cinder.html#/CinderVolumes.create_and_attach_volume
17:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : it is trend report from our CI
17:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : as you can see, there is no "stable" result of that scenario
17:54 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : it can take different time
17:55 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : (notes: rally was executed at different random nodes)
17:56 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : but anyway, `CinderVolumes.create_volume` should be more stable
17:57 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : I have the graph here, see https://github.com/shwsun/xavier-contrib/blob/master/rally/figs/rally2.png

17:58 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : interesting data
17:58 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : but I suggest you to take look at other scenarios
17:58 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : "more simple"
17:59 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : just for test of posting links: https://github.com/shwsun/xavier-contrib/raw/master/rally/figs/rally2.png
18:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : how did you do taht , this is much nicer
18:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shwsun copy the link of "Download" next time ;)
18:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : i see
18:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : cool
18:00 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : thank you for clarifying the stability things
18:01 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] shwsun : i will think about it
18:03 mvk joined #openstack-rally
18:04 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : @shwsun btw, "CinderVolumes.create_and_delete_volume" can be good as well for statistic. First of all, it operates simple actions(not simple, but more stable). And another big advantage - it removes the volume in each iteration, so you can exucute this scenario with a bit number of total iterations without usage of all resources of your cloud
18:05 rallydev-bot [From Gitter] andreykurilin : bigger number of iterations -> smoother timings
