22:14 jimallman dukeleto: how's it going?
22:18 dukeleto jimallman: pretty decent
22:18 dukeleto jimallman: how about you?
22:18 dukeleto jimallman: i am looking at how to add search functionality to the OTOL API
22:19 jimallman chugging along here, working on some interesting ideas for OTU mapping
22:19 dukeleto jimallman: sounds fun
22:19 jimallman re: search in the API, yeah, we'll need it for sure.
22:20 jimallman there was talk of adding a searchable index and caching there, eventually.
22:20 jimallman (there = in the API layer)
22:21 jimallman that will be sweet. for now, i'm still faking the study list: http://ec2-54-212-192-235.us-west-2.compute.amazonaws.com/curator
22:21 jimallman would love to wire up that Filter By widget as a quick search
22:42 dukeleto jimallman: i am still wondering if the Github API is going to be a good fit for searching inside of NexSON files
22:43 dukeleto there is http://developer.github.com/v3/search/#search-code
22:43 dukeleto jimallman: do you have an idea for the simplest possible use-case of a search? What would people want to search for
22:44 dukeleto jimallman: and how would you want the results to be displayed as a response from the OTOL API?
22:44 dukeleto jimallman: i will need to migrate soon, so if I am not here, feel free to send an email
22:46 jimallman dukeleto: see the above link for a simple scenario.. the main study list. would be great if we can search on title, author, focal clade.. return matching studies (metadata only?) as JSON
22:46 * jimallman is looking at the search_code link now...
22:49 jimallman dukeleto: if the Github search API is as fast as the site itself, I don't think speed will be an issue. if we want a more organized index (more aware of Nexson structure), i thought we'd eventually add a layer more like Lucene, or maybe a NoSQL store?
