00:58 mtholder kcranston: is it OK if I hate purls, or does that make me a bad person
02:07 kcranstn you can hate purls. It's OK.
02:07 kcranstn but why?
02:18 mtholder oh. Just cause, I can't grab the url for the page I'm reading and paste it in docs.
02:19 mtholder i mean I can, but it is the post-resolution url
02:19 mtholder i'm in a whiny mood tonight (as if that wasn't clear)

04:40 mtholder Hi jimallman. I'm going to call it a night. A merge_otus_and_trees function is almost working in peyotl. Then I'll wrap it in a web-service.
04:41 mtholder tomorrow, hopefully.

17:45 mtholder towodo, jimallman should we just cancel the call today?
17:46 mtholder Emily has a conflict with Monday 1EST calls. So she'll miss, too
17:46 jimallman i'm OK either way. maybe a short call just to check in on the deployment repo and hbf progress?
17:46 mtholder fine with me.
17:47 jimallman i'm eager to merge the new stuff, but i need to be able to save studies in the newer hbf versions (1.0.0 at least). should i try that again?
17:49 mtholder I'm afraid that I haven't updated the validator.
17:49 mtholder we could disable validation
17:50 mtholder and put "reenable validation" in my task list
17:50 mtholder I think that if we do that it will be trivial to get the studies translated to the correct syntax so they can be stored in the repo.
17:51 mtholder the annotations *might* work now, I just have not tried it.
17:53 jimallman hm, tough call. i don't want to rush things if it might make a hash of the data.
17:54 jimallman but yeah, we can try it. no-validation might generate some false alarms, but it's easy enough to roll back if studies get mangled.
17:54 mtholder We're still in a sandbox mode where curators shouldn't expect that their edits will stay long term, right?
17:55 mtholder we can just force a refresh from phylografter before we go into "now we are preserving edits" mode.
17:55 towodo mtholder, I don't have anything in particular in mind for today's call, but if you & jim want to use it to talk to each other that's fine
17:57 jimallman ok, i'll be here. towodo: i'll send an email with ideas for a minimal deployment repo.
17:59 jimallman mtholder: we've kinda covered my main questions here, so it's your call.
18:00 mtholder let's chat for a few minutes...
18:01 lyndon has anyone else used bgzip / tabix to compress and index a very large (>10GB) fasta file before?
