14:32 mtholder towodo: I'm trying to diagnose some issues with the API deployment. I put in some logging messages that are usually written to the standard out of the web2py process. Do you know where those end up when we are running on the ec2 mahcines?
14:33 towodo hmm. Not sure but I don't think those are captured at all.
14:34 mtholder OK. I'll look into how to get the logs directed to a file.
14:34 towodo There's a neo4j log; N/A.  The deployment system has its own log; N/A.  web2py would go to an apache log if there were one, but I don't think there is one
14:35 towodo Maybe there is a way to write to the apache error log… or to the system log… but I doubt it. Let me know if you figure it out, seems like a good idea
14:36 mtholder I'm using python's logging module. I was just going to figure out how to have the API's messages go to a log file for the api.
14:37 towodo Right. The weird part is that python gets started up from apache and I'm not aware of any point of initialization where that could be arranged
14:38 mtholder I probably should be using a logging conf file, but I tend to use env. vars for tweaking the logging configuration. So I was going to add an OT_API_LOG_FILE_PATH env variable and code to handle that setting in the get_logger function.
14:39 mtholder A bit of a hack, but it should work.
14:39 towodo OK.

18:42 mtholder jimallman: is the version of the curator app on ot3 ready for me to test? I think that the api (on ot7) may be ready to act like it is supposed to act (or at least log errors)
18:46 jimallman sure, go for it
18:47 jimallman mtholder: ^
19:18 mtholder I tried. DIdn't take me long to find a bug in my code. :-(
19:18 mtholder working on that now, but it looks like the studyYear may be coming in as a string rather than int (from a DOI lookup).
19:19 mtholder jimallman: ^
19:19 jimallman mtholder: ok, i’ll take a look. i might need to coerce that into an integer…
