09:03 submersible can anyone suggest how a plugin can launch a new document... do i use 'actions' ?
09:03 Sewi You could use actions.
09:04 Sewi But you want to fill this new document?
09:05 Sewi Padre->{actionqueue}->add('file.new');
09:06 Sewi This creates a new emtpy document within the next second
09:06 submersible yes - I have the doc body an want to open new editor tab and set the content
09:07 Sewi Or you use Padre::Wx::Main->setup_editor
09:08 submersible Sewi: ty
09:10 submersible ok - do I then need to pick out the fresh editor from somewhere?
09:10 Sewi submersible: setup_editor might not be good, you should check out what file.new does...
09:11 Sewi The SVN plugin has a menu function "Diff-> Open in Padre"
09:11 Sewi It should be the best sample you could get.
09:15 Hyppolit #795: Ctrl-Tab is using tab display order rather than last-used order (new enhancement) [ http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/795#comment:5 ]
09:16 waxhead I cheated and created a new_document_from_string method to do that...
09:17 waxhead Sewi, hey the history with crtl-tab works fine.. it's a simple matter of making it call the methods in the on_key method in Padre::Main
09:18 waxhead the problem will be "expected behaviour" given we have had a simple cycle through the tabs behaviour for so long ( while it was working of course )
09:18 Sewi waxhead: cool
09:18 Sewi waxhead: I did it because Ctrl-Tab was broken for more than a release. Otherwise I won't have changed the known default.
09:18 waxhead sewi, I checked out the Menu stuff and saw you'd already done it and then followed the code.
09:19 waxhead well, the question is now, should we implement it as the standard behaviour?  I'll raise it on the list.
09:20 * waxhead is thinking about how to pop up a window with the list of files to cycle through in the last seen order a'la Notepad++
09:20 waxhead but I'm hitting a brick wall with registering the Key up event in my frame..
09:21 submersible Sewi: thankyou again.
09:24 Sewi waxhead: Alt+Left/Right is there for switchting to neighbors, but up to me, Ctrl-Tab should be the last-used order line Win and Linux do with windows.
09:25 Sewi Again Opera has something nice: It shows a list of open windows on the second Ctrl-Tab allowing you to mouse click or Ctrl-Tab/Ctrl-Shift-Tab through the list and hiding it again if you release Ctrl
09:29 waxhead sewi, that's what I'm working on with a little test app at hte moment...
09:30 waxhead I just can't get the key up event to work

13:35 gary Hi.  I installed the Windows this version of padre http://www.strawberryperl.com/download/padre/padre-standalone-0.50.msi on Win2003 and ran the update as suggested.  When I tried to start padre I would see CPU activity for a few seconds but padre would never start up.  I've since removed it and was going to try it again but this thought I'd ask for advice.
13:35 szabgab there is a bug that first you need to rub padre.bat
13:35 szabgab after that you can already use the padre.exe
13:36 szabgab and we really need to fix this ASAP

16:20 run4flat If anybody's around, I have a question about the syntax checking in Padre
16:22 run4flat I'm going to guess that everybody is busy, but will be back soon.  :)
16:23 run4flat My issue is that I'm developing my own set of modules in a local directory tree
16:23 run4flat My/Slice.pm
16:23 run4flat My/Simulator.pm
16:23 run4flat My/Recorder.pm
16:23 run4flat etc
16:23 run4flat My syntax checking problem is that My::Simulator inherits from My::Slice
16:24 run4flat so in My/Simulator.pm, I have ``use lib '..'; use My::Slice;''
16:25 run4flat This compiles fine under ``perl -c Simulator.pm'', but the Syntax checker says it can't locate My/Slice.pm, even though '..' is in the list of @INC directories
16:26 run4flat I just started using the Syntax checker and I really, really like it
16:26 run4flat but this is making the Syntax checker useless for this module

17:46 szabgab run4flat, for now I think the only things you can do is
17:46 szabgab 1) set PERL5LIB before your start Padre
17:46 szabgab 2) patch Padre
17:46 szabgab 3) fix Padre
17:46 run4flat :)
17:46 run4flat szabgab: Thanks
17:47 run4flat I can look at it more closely, but the thing that I don't get is that @INC supposedly has the right directories in it
17:47 run4flat The error message lists out what is in @INC
17:47 run4flat and it's got '..'
17:48 run4flat Anyway, maybe I'll poke around at it after I've got my simulator in a better state.  :)
17:48 szabgab oh I think the problem is that padre needs to save the file in order to run syntax check
17:48 szabgab and it saves it in a temp directory
17:48 run4flat By the way, now that I have a working copy on one of my ubuntu machines, I really like it!
17:48 szabgab well, maybe that isn't the problem
17:48 run4flat temp directory... huh
17:48 run4flat ok
17:49 szabgab I have not looked at that code for a long time
17:49 run4flat that makes the problem a lot clearer, actually
17:49 szabgab I am trying to get the debugger in shape now
17:49 run4flat Awesome!
17:49 szabgab in the next few days I hope I'll be able to get it to a point of being usable
17:50 szabgab jit for xmas
17:50 run4flat :D
17:50 run4flat for my part, that would be delightful!
17:50 szabgab have you tried it already ?
17:50 run4flat not yet
17:50 szabgab it is on trunk
17:50 run4flat I haven't had any serious debugging problems
17:50 run4flat I'm sure I'll come up against them, so I'll check it out probably later this week
17:50 run4flat thanks for the note

18:06 run4flat Gabor, the PERL5LIB work-around works perfect for now.  Thanks for the suggestions
18:13 run4flat szabgab, using the PERL5LIB also puts my libary's pod documentation into the Padre help system, which is nice!
18:14 szabgab is that project a CPAN -like directory with a Makefile.PL in the root ?

23:16 garu zamolxes, like?
23:16 garu :)
23:16 zamolxes meh :)
23:17 zamolxes open dialog -> when typing a full path, padre opens the file from the current dir
23:17 zamolxes - By default when running padre, I have my homedir there. If i type something in the search box, it hangs as I have zillions of files. I should be able to stop the search with 'esc' or 'ctrl-c'
23:17 zamolxes two examples
23:18 garu zamolxes, hmm... those might be related to wx itself
23:20 zamolxes yeah, but they're pretty nasty.
23:21 zamolxes + the dev servers doesn't always (or ever?) stop
23:21 zamolxes (in plugin::catalyst)
23:22 zamolxes and when it starts, i get the nasty dialog 'run browser? y/n'
