16:45 Sewi hi all
16:50 brainbuz_ How do other people deal with Template Toolkit comments. \nPadre seems to know about the format but says it doesn't know how to comment it. And there are two types of valid comments, Template Toolkit and HTML. In Gedit (which doesn't know about TT at all) I put an html comment at the top of the file and gedit decides its html.

17:01 szabgab brainbuz, I guess someone still needs to implement that knowledge
17:05 szabgab but a quick look at the code of Padre tells me only the single-line comment types are now supported
17:05 szabgab more complex commenting is not yet supported by Padre
17:09 brainbuz_ Thanks. I think a simple workaround is to (for the time being, and then create an accompanying future feature ticket) just use the html comment (which is the best other editors will do), as the comment engine improves and if more people are interested in the issue, a better solution may be developed.

18:26 szabgab brainbuz, if there is a way to comment out code with prefix   such as   # in perl
18:26 szabgab it is quite easy to add
18:27 szabgab but enclosing comments are a lot more tricky as one needs to make sure comments behave well   e.g.
18:28 szabgab eg.  /*   /*   */    this will not be a comment */
18:39 brainbuz until you said that I hadn't tried adding a comment in a plain html document, which doesn't work either.
18:39 brainbuz I undesrtand now that these issues can't be addressed until the comment engine is improved.
18:40 brainbuz Which is probably something that sounds easy, but could easily turn into a pHD thesis topic.
18:41 szabgab actually there are several languages that need multiline comments
18:41 szabgab so if someone worked it out for one then the others only had to give the characters used to start and end the comments
18:43 szabgab if you are interested it all starts in Padre::Wx::Main::on_comment_block
18:48 brainbuz Doing anything with it is way beyond my skills, but out of curiosity I just pulled the source from cpan, where in that 1.2mb tarball might I find the definition of that function?
