| 06:45 | wtgee | Hello. So I wanted to take the standalone for a try but when I try to run it says that the perl located in the bin dir is not found. |
| 06:46 | And it is most obviously there. I can't use it alone either just to print a version number, same 'not found' message | |
| 06:46 | Running latest ubuntu, standard install, zsh, nothing fancy. | |

| 07:08 | submersible | wtgee: which standalone did you try ? |
| 07:10 | interesting... | |
| 07:11 | wtgee | Just the one on the download page at padre.perlide.org, the perl-5.11.4-xl-0.03.tar.bz2 |
| 07:11 | It looks like a lot of the other files are still system dependent on /home/szabgab. All the perltidy, perlcritic, perlthanks files. | |
| 07:12 | submersible | I see that |
| 07:12 | try the padre.sh | |
| 07:12 | szabgab | wtgee, have you ran the padre.sh ? |
| 07:12 | oh | |
| 07:12 | wtgee | That's what I was trying first. |
| 07:13 | And then tried running the perl binary in the bin/ dir directly. | |
| 07:13 | szabgab | maybe try to switch to bash and run from there |
| 07:13 | wtgee | Tried bash and basic sh and same thing. |
| 07:14 | szabgab | I built it with the portable option of perl but maybe there are some things not so portable yet? |
| 07:14 | try run path/to/bla/perl path/to/bla/padre | |
| 07:14 | oh you might need to set PATH to point to that directory | |
| 07:15 | bl | |
| 07:15 | bbl | |
| 07:15 | wtgee | Yeah, tried that too and then tried to just run path/to/perl -v and it gives the 'not found' |
| 07:15 | But I can see it and has non zero file size and all that. | |
| 07:16 | @szabgab thanks, I'll keep poking around. | |

| 08:15 | wtgee | Well, cpanminus just did a great job of installing Padre once I had the gtk2 dev headers on the system. Guess I'll use that instead of the standalone for now. |
