05:13 szabgab waxhead, yeah, Ironman can't forget blogs
05:13 szabgab by mistake I posted a half written blog, ironman picked it up and even though I removed it from the feed it still shows up

05:14 szabgab waxhead, its very nerving when kids are sick and you can't help them much just wait
05:15 waxhead szabgab, it's not too bad, just feeling sick, headache and stuff...
05:15 szabgab no fever?
05:15 waxhead she's asleep on the couch.. I'm next to her trying to get my remote control working in a diskless mythtv frontend
05:15 waxhead not too bad.. bit warm
05:16 waxhead I'm not making any headway with the remote either... sigh
05:17 szabgab so you are worried about the remote
05:17 szabgab that's good
05:17 waxhead oh yeah.. she's fine.. just one of those things kids get...
05:19 szabgab in the meantime I am thinking how can we re-ignite the development of Padre, it got really slow
05:20 waxhead szabgab, yeah, I saw you mention that in the channel the other day... I follow the log at work..
05:20 waxhead I think it's cyclic...
05:20 waxhead things are a bit slow at the moment... and It's hard to know what causes it...
05:21 waxhead it could be due to a lack of chatter in the channel
05:21 waxhead so people aren't really inspired..
05:21 waxhead it could be that the things left to do now are getting harder to do
05:21 waxhead the main players are busy with things in their life..
05:22 waxhead I haven't seem much of Sewi of late.. Adam is busy with work and being OS I think...
05:22 waxhead for the most part many things do just work...
05:22 waxhead enough not to cause you to get around to fixing things
05:23 waxhead zenog, has been busy lately with a lot of commits, fixes etc...
05:24 szabgab yeah, though there are still lots of outstanding issues
05:24 waxhead I'll admit, that while I'm not the most prolific of committers, I have plenty going on around the place that when I do find time to do anything I have no idea what to do.. and generally too tired to think about
05:24 waxhead szabgab, there are.. hard ones I think...
05:24 szabgab just saw the blog of jq about Games::Risk   which is written in Perl::tk
05:25 waxhead it's a bit of an 80/20 rule thing going on here... 80% of the work is done.. the last 20% being the polish is quite hard..
05:25 waxhead you put in a lot of work and don't see large gains
05:25 waxhead interesting choice.. I didn't think Perl::Tk was being supported so much...
05:26 szabgab he might have written it a long time ago, I am not sure
05:26 szabgab sure it is
05:27 szabgab it is just that the whole GUI world in Perl is hardly doing anything
05:31 waxhead how so?
05:32 szabgab how many GUI apps do you know that are written in Perl ?
05:32 waxhead Padre :)
05:32 waxhead Frozen Bubble
05:32 waxhead that's about it...
05:32 waxhead but then I couldn't know what language other apps are written in
05:33 waxhead I'd guess and be surprised
05:36 szabgab Zim used to be in Perl, now it is in Python
05:37 szabgab there is a list http://www.perlfoundation.org/perl5/index.cgi?applications
05:37 szabgab jq, perl -c bin/prisk   gives me
05:37 szabgab Failed to find share dir for dist 'Games-Risk' at /home/gabor/.cpan/build/Games-Risk-3.101370-uMkzaM/bin/../lib/Games/Risk/Resources.pm line 127
05:38 El_Che dvd::rip
05:38 szabgab perl -Iblib/lib -c bin/prisk      works welll
05:39 szabgab though I also get the following:
05:39 szabgab Free non-Callback 11385b8 RV=0 during global destruction.
05:42 Sewi I'd blame it on the packaging problem: Create a ".pl-to-win-installer" and we'll see much more Perl-GUI-apps.
05:43 waxhead El_Che, good one!
05:43 waxhead :)
05:43 waxhead I remember finding that out and being surprised
05:43 waxhead bit like frozen bubble...
05:44 Sewi I don't think that a full strawberry install with each program is a good solution anyway. We'd need some kind of windows-style-solution like "runtime libraries" for Perl (like the ones for VB or .NET)
05:44 El_Che claudio@brugge:~$ apt-rdepends -r libgtk2-perl

05:51 Xaero joined #padre
05:53 szabgab I think CSJewell was just working on that idea
05:53 szabgab that you can use the Strawberry as a baseline package
05:53 szabgab what I can imagine is that in Padre we add a GUI installer for applications
05:54 szabgab both improve the CPAN installer and add (again) the par installer
05:54 szabgab El_Che, pls update the wiki page if you have time
05:55 szabgab the risk game is cool though a bit simple I think

08:07 t0mko hi
08:09 t0mko bug report :  padre from CPAN ( installed today ) has bug in Padre/Document/Perl.pm , line 1617 , this line should be replaced  with "my ( $location, $token ) = $self->get_current_symbol( $pos );"
08:10 szabgab t0mko, hi
08:10 t0mko gabor , what's up ?
08:10 szabgab could you please check it in our SVN repository as well? maybe that was fixed already?
08:10 szabgab me good, I just don't recognize your nickname :-(
08:11 t0mko yep , superfish :)
08:11 szabgab oh
08:11 szabgab great to see you here
08:12 Sewi szabgab: We should stop thinking in Linux terms for Windows users.
08:12 t0mko yeah , me too :)    I decided to give more chance to padre :)
08:12 szabgab Sewi, what do you mean?
08:13 szabgab t0mko, we need the critical eyes
08:14 t0mko currently I don't see how can I  jump to function  without  doing search .
08:14 Sewi szabgab: windows users don't like command lines and as long as there is no graphical animated wizard-based cpan installer for windows with nice visual scrolling effects and smooth colors, Perl-based apps will be too hard to use for windows users.
08:15 szabgab t0mko, View/Outline of View/Functions
08:15 szabgab and I think left-Ctrl+ mouse down should also work but I am not sure
08:15 t0mko I see you trying to mimic somehow eclipse and in eclipse it's simple : hold control ,  select function name , click left mouse
08:16 szabgab yeah, we do
08:16 szabgab btw right click on the name of the function would also give you a menu option
08:16 szabgab Sewi, I agree
08:17 szabgab except that more and more Linux users are like that too :-)
08:18 t0mko I see you trying to mimic somehow eclipse and in eclipse it's simple : hold control ,  select function name , click left mouse
08:18 t0mko does not work  :(  left click
08:18 szabgab t0mko, and Alt-/  is the same as right-click
08:18 SvenDowideit__ joined #padre
08:23 Sewi szabgab: Create a .pl-to-msi installer-creator which may include basic strawberry binaries ("strawberry.dll") and which could install all required modules from CPAN in the background and which installs the original pl as a exe file including start-menu items, uninstaller and things like this. The strawberry.dll is updated if there is no or an older version currently installed, otherwise the preinstalled is kept.
08:23 Sewi Up to me, this is what is really missing for Perl on Win.
08:24 t0mko hmm , function list on the right is useful , but  you can't jump to the function call from there
08:25 szabgab it works for me, but as I can see it is a bit buggy now
08:26 szabgab of I press enter the focus jumps to the editor but if I click with the moues it keeps the focus on the function list

16:18 zenog Is there a HOWTO describing how to i18n Padre plug-ins?
16:18 zenog Ah, I see here: http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/TranslationIntro
16:30 zenog The names of the translation files seem to be Padre__Plugin__Vi-de.po instead of Vi-de.po like on that wiki page.
16:34 zenog Shall I change this in the wiki?

17:37 rindolf Hi all.
17:51 zenog Is there an example for a working Padre plugin translation outside of main Padre (i.e., not My, Devel, etc.)?
17:55 Hyppolit svn: r11479 | zenogantner++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/11479
17:55 Hyppolit trying to get working translation ...
17:55 Hyppolit trunk/Padre-Plugin-HTMLExport/ trunk/Padre-Plugin-HTMLExport/lib/Padre/Plugin/ trunk/Padre-Plugin-HTMLExport/share/ trunk/Padre-Plugin-HTMLExport/share/locale/
17:55 zenog I was playing a bit with the HTMLExport module, but as of now, installation and loading of the translations does not work properly, and honestly I don't know where to start looking.
17:58 zenog I installed several modules from SVN which do have translations, however they do not show up in the GUI: DataWalker, Perl6 ...
17:58 zenog I am happy about any kind of hint in the right direction ;-)
