02:13 kthakore_haitus hi Alias_
02:13 Alias_ haitus? :)
02:13 kthakore_haitus Alias_: yeah ... I am not hacking till June 17th
02:13 kthakore_haitus :(
02:14 kthakore_haitus http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=haitus
02:14 Alias_ I know what it is
02:15 kthakore_haitus Alias_: no it is the haitus not hiatus
02:15 kthakore_haitus oh well
02:15 kthakore_haitus Alias_: how is austrailia?
02:16 Alias_ cold and wet
02:16 kthakore_haitus Alias_: still no small bewbs for you guys?
02:16 Alias_ And rather large
02:16 Alias_ bewbs?
02:16 kthakore_haitus boobs
02:17 kthakore_haitus australia banned small boobed porn right
02:17 Alias_ oooo
02:17 kthakore_haitus so I was wondering if that was repealed yet?
02:17 Alias_ Don't pay too much attention to that kind of thing
02:17 Alias_ Laws tend to pass the lower house quite easily, but pass the Senate very slowly
02:18 Alias_ So proposed laws are created and reported on before they actually exist
02:19 kthakore_haitus so is this acutally in effect yet?

02:27 Alias_ kthakore_haitus, nope
02:27 Alias_ Sometimes this kind of thing lingers for a while, then the government decides it's too hard to get through
02:27 Alias_ Currently, it's been put on hold until after the upcoming election
02:27 Alias_ Which could be code for killing it
02:29 Alias_ On the assumption that post-election, they won't have the numbers. But they won't APPEAR to be backing down, so they'll keep the anti-peadophile people and churchies on their side for the election, but don't have to fight against the free-speechers during the election
02:29 Alias_ That kind of thing happens here a lot
02:29 Alias_ It's easy to get a bill created and put forward, harder to get it approved

02:37 kthakore_haitus Alias_: ah I see
02:37 kthakore_haitus Alias_: crazies get pandered to without any real damage?
02:37 Alias_ no no
02:38 Alias_ The government pretty much always has a majority in the lower house, which is the only one that creates laws
02:38 Alias_ So if that crazy is the prime minister, he can pretty much create any law he (or the cabinet, or the party etc) wants
02:38 Alias_ Others can try to put forward bills, but they won't get passed the lower house
02:38 Alias_ So nobody bothers
02:39 Alias_ But the upper house, which reviews and has to pass or reject any proposed law, is almost never held by the government, due to the way the elections work for it
02:40 Alias_ So the government has to put forward something it thinks it can get enough other people from the senate on their side for
02:40 Alias_ And the senate usually has a small to medium cluster of independants, religious crazies, greens etc
02:40 Alias_ Often they only need to find a way to get 2 or 3 of these guys on their side
02:41 kthakore_haitus hmm that is weird
02:41 Alias_ It works pretty elegantly in practice
02:41 kthakore_haitus Canadians have fighting on both houses
02:41 kthakore_haitus haha
02:42 kthakore_haitus we get nothing done eas
02:42 kthakore_haitus eas
02:42 kthakore_haitus easy
02:42 Alias_ The crazies can't make the laws, but they can stop them
02:42 Alias_ It keeps their involvement to the sidelines and means only minor nuttyness gets though
02:42 Alias_ The Canadian senate is a farce
02:42 Alias_ From what I hear
02:43 Alias_ Ours are fixed size, elected and have term limits
02:45 kthakore_haitus yeah we need term limits
02:45 kthakore_haitus jeez the oldies clog up every thing
02:45 * kthakore_haitus facepalms
02:46 Alias_ And the prime minister can just stack the senate any time he wants?
02:47 Alias_ Which is pretty fucking stupid
02:47 Alias_ The house of lords model in the UK isn't too bad
02:47 Alias_ But you guys took it and made it worse it seems
02:51 charsbr Alias_: sorry to bother you but would you also release DBD::SQLite (and Module::Install)?
02:53 Alias_ ok
02:53 charsbr thanks
02:55 kthakore_haitus Alias_: yeah the stacking is the most stupidest part
02:55 kthakore_haitus Alias_: I mean he don't even do it right
02:56 kthakore_haitus Alias_: then he gets pissed and perogue (closes parliment) twice
02:56 kthakore_haitus to 'balance the budget', pfft
02:56 Alias_ Shutting down the country seems somewhat silly
02:56 kthakore_haitus twice
02:56 kthakore_haitus WTF
02:57 Alias_ I suppose we could theoretically do the same
02:57 Alias_ Just not submit any bills
02:57 Alias_ Doesn't stop parliment as a whole though
02:57 kthakore_haitus but that is stupid
02:57 kthakore_haitus you don't get nothing done
02:57 kthakore_haitus at all
02:57 Alias_ Right
03:00 kthakore_haitus bah ... I feel I am getting old as I realize more and more that the world is run by a bunch of monkeys
03:01 kthakore_haitus Alias_: then I realize we are all fucking monkeys on a tiny dust bowl and this is all moot point compared to the age of the universe
03:01 kthakore_haitus Alias_: then I get drunk or procastinate
03:01 * Alias_ is just thankful that he lives somewhere away from the majority of the stupid
03:02 Alias_ And that, slowly, does seem to manage self-improvement
03:02 kthakore_haitus Alias_: where do you live and will the nukes get us there?
03:03 Alias_ Sydney, and probably not
03:05 * kthakore_haitus packs for Sydney
03:06 Alias_ Wait till Octoberish when it's warm again
03:07 kthakore_haitus aww ok
03:07 kthakore_haitus I should go to sleep
03:07 kthakore_haitus workd tommorow
03:15 Alias_ charsbr, released
03:15 charsbr Alias_: thank you
03:16 Alias_ sorry for the delay
03:16 Alias_ Finally over my jetlag now :)

06:55 Alias \o
06:55 * Alias is happy today
06:55 Xaero \o/
06:55 Alias First Task 2.0 event fired this morning
06:55 * Xaero has no idea what that means
06:55 Alias You know Padre's threading system?
06:55 Xaero nope
06:56 Alias You know Padre?
06:56 Alias :)
06:56 Alias It needs to do certain stuff in the background
06:56 Xaero yeah, but it doesn't work for me :(
06:56 Alias So we use a threading/task model
06:56 Alias Where you make a task object, and throw it at a thread manager, which dispatches it to a child thread for execution etc
06:56 Alias But the current version is a bit of a spagetti ball
06:56 Alias I'm doing a way way more awesome rewrite
06:56 Xaero cool

06:59 Alias Should let people do threading stuff without having to know about the existance of threads
06:59 Alias Which also means we can change the way we do background stuff later without changing any of the backgrounding code
06:59 Alias (But that's more of a bonus)
