08:57 Sewi Did anybody try the WePad? http://wetab.mobi/en/product-details
08:58 Xaero wepad or wetab?
08:59 Sewi wepad
08:59 Sewi sorry, wetab
09:00 Xaero is that an android device?
09:00 Xaero i can't find the price anywhere though
09:01 Sewi http://wetab.mobi/shop
09:01 Sewi It seems it runs WeTabOS and Androis (while WeTabOS may be Android based)
09:02 Xaero my 16" notebook monitor is 1366 x 768, can't imagine how tiny the text will be on 11.6"
09:03 Sewi I'm using a 12,1" netbook and it's fine
09:03 Xaero whoa...,it's expensive
09:03 Sewi yes, more than a netbook
09:03 Xaero what is the resolution?
09:04 Sewi 1366x768
09:05 Xaero i would use anything less than 14" for that resolution, i'm already finding it difficult to read
09:05 Xaero whatever happened to that snapdragon based netbook form freescale, $200 one?
09:05 danlucraft joined #padre
09:06 Sewi I don't think that these Pads are build for working, just for reading and running Apps :-)
09:06 Alias_ joined #padre
09:06 Xaero there's 1080p HD playback :P
09:07 Sewi But the WeTab is better than the iPad in terms of screen size, multitasking, resolution, connectivity and price
09:07 Xaero running apps = working
09:10 Sewi you're right :-) But I won't start developing on something like this...
09:10 Xaero ah yeah
09:10 Xaero at a particular price any decive would be a apple product
09:11 Xaero it is said that the apple logo on Mac desktop cost $400
09:12 Xaero so a similar spec desktop that's $600 from other vendors would be $1000 from apple
09:13 Xaero mircrosoft used that marketing technique and apple had to beg microsoft to pull the plug on that PC Vs Mac marketing campaign
09:15 Sewi So you won't use any *Pad?
09:17 Xaero nope, it strains my eyes, these things have very small font size and increasing the font size breaks the layout
09:19 Xaero do you use usenet?
09:19 Sewi I used it some time ago, but not today
09:20 Xaero do the messages sent to nttp.perl.org have to be approved by a moderator?
09:21 Sewi Sorry, don't know
09:21 Xaero ok np

11:06 Alias_ Greetings
11:07 * Alias_ has just set up the world's biggest Padre install
11:07 Alias_ I've got it running on a 130 inch projector :)
11:07 Xaero_ o.O
11:07 Alias_ It takes up my entire wall
11:07 * Alias_ is experimenting with his new projector
11:08 Xaero_ so how does it feel coding with a 130 inch workspace?
11:08 Alias_ It certainly makes me work in a more precise manner
11:29 Sewi Which resolution do you use?
11:29 Sewi Could we get a photo?
11:29 Xaero_ +1 for photo

12:07 * azawawi feels a bit rusty :)
12:08 * Xaero hands a can of WD-40
12:09 azawawi lol
12:10 Xaero :P
12:12 Hyppolit svn: r11555 | azawawi++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/11555

16:19 Alias_ I've taken some photos
16:19 Alias_ Just lost the cable for my camera atm :(
16:19 Xaero :-/
16:19 Xaero is it USB?
16:21 Alias_ Yeah, but you know how there's like 8 different varients of small usb
16:21 Xaero yeah
16:21 Alias_ I've got cables for most of them except the one my camera uses
16:21 Alias_ And I've lost that one apparently
16:21 Alias_ And it has a stupid olympus XD card that doesn't fit into any normal card readers
16:22 Xaero doesn't the projector lamp need to be replaced after some hours?
16:22 Alias_ 50c an hour
16:22 Alias_ $750 for 1,500 hours
16:23 Xaero um..., i wouldn't use it for coding :P
16:23 Alias_ 50c an hour is nothing
16:23 Xaero what are you goging to use it for?
16:24 Alias_ But it's not my plan to use it regularly
16:24 Alias_ I'm just mucking around atm
16:25 Alias_ Seeing what does and does NOT work well on something this size :)
16:25 Xaero what is the resolution?
16:28 Alias_ 1024x768, I think
16:28 Alias_ At least, that seems to display reasonably well
16:28 * Alias_ goes to check
16:29 Alias_ Fairly sure it is, because single pixel lines look single pixel on the wall
16:29 danlucraft joined #padre
16:30 Xaero should be good enough for semi-HD (720p) movies
16:46 * Alias_ takes the opportunity to add better display smarts to Padre's startup
16:47 Xaero o.O
16:47 Xaero like what?
16:48 Hyppolit svn: r11556 | adamk++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/11556
16:48 Hyppolit When Padre starts up, and it is positioned somewhere partially or completely off any of the current monitors, change the position and size to that of the Wx::Display-calculated "10% margin top-pushed golden-ratio landscape"
16:48 Hyppolit branches/Padre-TaskRewrite/lib/Padre/Wx/
16:50 Xaero how long have you been coding in perl?
16:50 Alias_ Now I can move my portable hard-drive between computers, and padre won't end up somewhere invisible
16:50 Alias_ 10ish years
16:50 Alias_ Actually, more like 13 now
16:50 Alias_ wow...
16:50 Alias_ (silence for a while)
16:50 Xaero yeah wow
16:50 Steffen Hey, you must have started about the same age.
16:51 Alias_ I was 20ish
16:51 Steffen Well, ~18 here.
16:51 Xaero i guess I won't get that much coding experience till i get too old to type
16:54 pece joined #padre
16:54 Alias_ Apart from a small phase in high school, I didn't really start coding until late first year of university
16:55 Alias_ And that was pretty non-serious until late second year
16:55 * Alias_ bed
16:55 Xaero see this WSH thingy?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PerlScript is it possible to have that in strawberry perl?
17:00 Alias_ Theoretically yes
17:00 Alias_ Practically, it's a private ActivePerl thing
17:00 Alias_ We'd need to reimplement it
17:00 Alias_ I'm guessing
17:01 Alias_ night
17:01 Xaero night

23:01 patspam ok so this is really trivial but it keeps on annoying me
23:02 patspam with Padre installed into local::lib
23:02 patspam you need to create a little bash script to launch padre from a gnome shortcut (to set up the local::lib stuff)
23:02 patspam that works ok, but it confuses Docky
23:03 patspam Docky, and I assume other equivalents like Gnome-Do don't recognise the running process as matching your shortcut
23:03 patspam so you end up with 2 icons, one for your shortcut, and one for the running process
23:03 patspam instead of them being merged into one with a little marker indicating that the shortcut is running
23:04 patspam trivial, but enough to annoy
23:04 patspam only solution I've found is to add "use local::lib" to the core padre script
23:04 patspam would it be nuts to add a flag to Padre that tells it to "use local::lib" in the startup script?
23:05 patspam or is there another way?
23:05 patspam or more general, allow the standard Perl @INC munging -I flag (like plackup does)
23:21 patspam oh sweet, just figured out the magical incantation to make it work without that
23:45 patspam documented it in the wiki
