00:05 waxhead which give us cross platform support
00:05 leontopod I'd like to write a simple KDE widget in Perl
00:05 leontopod sort of like bginfo, but for KDE

09:52 rindolf Hi all.
10:39 waxhead garu, ping
10:40 waxhead garu, Padre 0.64 and latest Padre::Plugin::Catalyst from cpan: Can't locate object method "ide" via package "Padre::Plugin::Catalyst::Panel" at /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1/Padre/Wx/Output.pm line 174.
10:46 waxhead garu, actually i don't htink that's your problem... sorry...
10:50 waxhead looks like it's fixed in trunk...
10:50 waxhead so 0.64 is broken for Catalyst...
10:51 waxhead I think it's something to do with the changes to "bottom"...

16:04 rindolf Hi all.
16:45 garu hi rindolf
16:45 garu waxhead: let me take a look, just a minute
16:45 rindolf garu: hi.
16:46 szabgab garu, hi
16:47 garu hi szabgab
16:47 szabgab I have not seen any update about FISL or YAPC::Brazil, have I missed it?
16:47 garu szabgab: yout may have missed it, I even added pictures and queried you around here
16:48 szabgab looking again
16:48 garu szabgab: I also updated the yearly schedule to include YAPC::Brasil and SPPW (Sao Paulo Perl Workshop)
16:48 szabgab http://www.socialtext.net/perl5/index.cgi?events_2010_fisl does not have anything
16:48 szabgab where did you put it?
16:49 garu that's strange, let me see
16:49 szabgab I wonder if it disappeared when the wiki was moved?
16:49 garu oh man
16:50 garu my updates are all gone :((
16:51 garu szabgab: any chance you have the originals? or will I have to update them all over again?
16:51 szabgab I don't have anything
16:51 szabgab I did not even know they are moving till after the event
16:52 garu :(
16:52 szabgab so either update again or as Casey West
16:52 szabgab AFAIK he made the move
16:52 szabgab http://news.perlfoundation.org/2010/06/perl-5-wiki-upgraded-to-social.html
16:53 garu I think I logged in using openid
16:54 garu don't see that option anymore
17:02 szabgab I have not seen that option either
17:02 szabgab but I am not sure I want to complain any more
17:02 szabgab I already told them I think it is a bad idea that the whole thing is on another domain
17:05 garu something's off
17:06 garu szabgab: do you know about this? http://www.socialtext.net/perl5/index.cgi?perl_events
17:06 garu it's the link to which the main perl5/ page points at
17:07 szabgab I saw that page but it is unrelated to us
17:07 szabgab some day someone will update that page too
17:07 szabgab maybe :)
17:09 garu I thought it was all "us"
17:11 szabgab yeah, it is "us"  you an me :)
17:11 szabgab but by "us" I meant the events group
17:21 garu szabgab: oh, ok :)
17:21 garu szabgab: is there a link to ?events anywhere?
17:22 garu or just to ?perl_events ?
17:22 szabgab on the right hand side you can see all incoming links
17:22 szabgab from within the wiki
17:22 szabgab you are welcome to add one to the main page as well
17:49 garu szabgab: ok, I just updated http://www.socialtext.net/perl5/index.cgi?events
17:49 garu now on to the fisl section
17:50 szabgab garu, you don't have a hostname for sppw ?
17:53 garu szabgab: no, that link is for the signup form. There's a huge banner pointing to that in sao-paulo.pm.org
17:54 garu but no specific hostname (it's our first time doing the workshop - usually SP only has tech meetings)
18:40 garu szabgab: http://www.socialtext.net/perl5/index.cgi?events_2010_fisl
18:40 garu szabgab: it's updated (again) :)
18:40 szabgab maybe you want to send an e-mail to the events list?
18:40 szabgab mentioning that you had to update the wiki twice...
18:41 garu 'k
18:41 szabgab and thank you for updating that page!
18:41 garu szabgab: please let me know if there's anything else you need :)
18:41 szabgab yes there is :)
18:41 szabgab pls comment on this: http://news.perlfoundation.org/2010/06/hague-grant-application-perl-e.html
18:53 El_Che szabgab: for your project: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/SlimServer
18:54 El_Che Logitech buitls it's wifi players around this Perl software
18:54 * szabgab looking
18:54 szabgab but I missed you in Brussels
18:55 szabgab El_Che, thanks for the link that's a good one too
18:55 El_Che szabgab: yeah. Too busy with sick kids and fellowship trouble (basically probably postponed to next year due to the present to the banks)
19:05 El_Che the squeezebox touch seems to be extremely nice
19:09 szabgab garu, I was selling T-shirts at YAPC for 30 USD each , (they cost I think 7 USD each), the profit went to TPF to finance the events group
19:09 szabgab do you think you could do something similar at FISL?

19:36 garu szabgab: we could sell them, but not at this cost
19:36 szabgab maybe check for how much could you make them and how much to sell for?
19:37 szabgab even in the us this was a high price but people were paying as it was fund-raising
19:47 garu maybe this is due to language barrier, maybe brazilian folks just don't expect TPF to pay any attention to non-english-speaking communities, but only now (doing larger scale perl-only events) that we're worried about funding
19:47 garu before we just shared costs and let it be
19:50 garu now we just started a donation-based fund raising online account for brazilian-based events, mostly as an experiment to see how the idea will go about inside the braziliancommunity
19:51 garu the tshirts cost us 10 BRL I think. Should we sell it, it could be for ~20 or so
19:51 garu but it's a conference shirt, and people in the community likely already have it (since they attented)
19:52 garu and people outside the community likely won't be tempted to buy it
19:53 garu let's take this conversation to #events :)
19:58 szabgab garu,   there is nearly no one there but we can switch there too :)

22:56 garu Alias: File::HomeDir 0.91 is failing for me on ubuntu :(
22:57 shadowpaste "garu" at 217.168.150.38 pasted "File::HomeDir 0.91 test fail" (34 lines) at http://paste.scsys.co.uk/45251
23:25 garu hmm... make test on File::HomeDir from trunk in svn.ali.as WORKSFORME
23:28 garu ha, manual installation of cpan's 0.91 also works... wth
23:28 garu aha!
23:28 garu Alias: make test only works if I'm a regular user
23:30 garu if I run 'make test' as root (which is what a system-wide install of cpan does), it fails
23:31 garu (on both cpan version and trunk)
