02:58 Hyppolit Yes, even though it's in the POD right above it.. :)

11:17 zenog Shouldn't we change the xt/copyright.t tests so that we do not need to have the (c) message twice (as a comment, and as POD)?
11:18 zenog I would volunteer to do it, if noone objects.

11:42 szabgab zenog: no we should not
11:43 szabgab that will trip the Debian folks
11:43 szabgab and it is not such a burden to keep both, is it?
11:46 zenog szabgab: Sure that this will be a problem for the Debian guys?
11:46 zenog szabgab: I also stated something wrongly. We already do this, it is just that the regex does not catch all of the (c) occurences in th e POD section.
11:47 zenog szabgab: From a legal perspective, it should be fine, because every file still contains a (c) notice plus a license statement.
11:55 szabgab I am not a lawyer
11:56 szabgab maybe you could ask dam what is their opinion?
11:56 szabgab but also, why does it bother you?
12:05 zenog It bothers me a bit because tests fail even though they should not, which then generate commits that would not be necessary, like r13257
12:05 Hyppolit Changeset #13257 http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/13257
12:05 zenog Of course it is bothering on a very low level.
12:06 zenog As I tried to explain, I did not want to change the practice, but just fix the test - maybe I shouldn't have asked ;-)
12:06 szabgab that test failed I think because someone removed the copyright
12:07 szabgab a few commits earlier
12:07 szabgab commenting something like "we don't need this as we already have it in pod'
12:08 szabgab but I am not thinking about something totally different that we might need to decide
12:08 szabgab we might need to aim to be able to create a stand alone exe for padre
12:08 szabgab at least on windows,
12:09 szabgab but probably also on linux
12:09 szabgab what stoped us the last time is the way the SQLite upgrade mechanizm works
12:09 zenog You sure about linux? If it is installable on distributions via the package manager, everything is fine. On Windows, I agree.
12:10 szabgab people will want a newerv version of Padre on olde linuxes as well
12:10 szabgab and you saw what happened with Ubuntu
12:10 szabgab but I agree that windows is more important in this aspect
12:10 zenog Yeah.
12:10 szabgab oh and there is the Mac too
12:11 szabgab so the two possible approaches is to 1) help Steffen to allow PAR to execute its own embedded perl
12:12 szabgab 2) change the way the upgrade mechnism works so it won't need a separate process
12:19 zenog I do not really understand the SQLite upgrade mechanism problem - what is the issue there?
12:27 szabgab in share/timelin there are sql scripts
12:27 zenog szabgab: Another thing - you had this setup that continuously checked out trunk and ran the tests, and reported the failures to the IRC channel ... does this still exist?
12:27 szabgab when padre launches it first checks what is the current level of the database and executes an upgrade script using the missing sql scripts
12:28 szabgab the problem is that the upgrade script is an external per script
12:29 szabgab and if we package padre using PAR it does not allow us to run arbitrary perl scripts using the perl that comes with PAR
12:29 zenog szabgab: Couldn't we add the script contents to the normal padre code?
12:30 szabgab I think currently ORLite does not support that
12:30 szabgab http://svn.ali.as/cpan/trunk/ORLite
12:30 szabgab is the repository
12:31 szabgab regarding the smoke machine, I can restart it
12:31 zenog szabgab: The thing with the smoke machine would be great.
12:31 szabgab it is booting now
12:31 szabgab and checking its file system :)
12:35 zenog hm okay.

13:21 szabgab zenog: hmm, the smoke test got stuck with lots of windows open  needing some clicks
13:23 zenog szabgab: Maybe it would be neat to differentiate between interactive and non-interactive tests ... or there shouldn't be any interactive tests at all.
13:24 zenog szabgab: I mean, wouldn't it be possible to automatically activate the events?
13:30 Hyppolit svn: r13259 | zenogantner++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/13259
13:30 Hyppolit fix copyright test to check for 'terms of Perl 5' instead of just 'terms of Perl'; adjust several files to pass the test
