00:07 ronsavage Thanx
00:11 ronsavage Errr - will that work without being able to install Wx?
00:21 ronsavage Ah, well: ron@zephyr:~/Downloads$ svn co http://nxadm.wordpress.com/2010/12/10/build-padre-svn-easily-with-perlbrew-and-cpanm/
00:21 ronsavage svn: Repository moved permanently to 'http://nxadm.wordpress.com/2010/12/10/build-padre-svn-easily-with-perlbrew-and-cpanm/'; please relocate

01:13 ronsavage Good idea! But I'm still worried about the Wx problem.

01:24 ronsavage OK. reposting this line for non-scrollers: Still trying to install 0.76. Report: http://paste.scsys.co.uk/77142
01:40 jfroebe Wx is required AFAIK
01:43 jfroebe you should be able to install Wx in your home dir.  ./configure --prefix $HOME
01:57 Alias ronsavage: I wouldn't hand-install wx yourself if you can avoid it
01:57 Alias ronsavage: And just let Alien::wxWidgets auto-install it for you
01:58 Alias (Unless you tried that already and it failed)
02:07 ronsavage cpanm Alien::wxWidgets installs quickly. I assume it's finding the wxWidgets I installed in /usr/local/lib, via LD_LIBRARY_PATH. But cpanm Wx dies with: ERROR from evaluation of /home/ron/.cpanm/work/1293761103.30061/Wx-0.98/ext/Makefile.PL: ERROR from evaluation of /home/ron/.cpanm/work/1293761103.30061/Wx-0.98/ext/stc/Makefile.PL: No such 'link' library: 'stc' at /home/ron/.cpanm/work/1293761103.30061/Wx-0.98/build/Wx/build/MakeMaker.pm lin
02:07 ronsavage Oh. That's V 2.8.11 of wxWidgets.
02:08 ronsavage My installed wxWidgets is 2.6.3. And that's all that's available via aptitude. Hence the regrettable manual install of 2.8.11.

02:48 jfroebe ahh that makes sense - take a look at PerlBrew - it gives you your own Perl for your user account and it prevents polution of the system perl
02:50 jnap left #padre
02:50 jfroebe We've been pushing PerlBrew on the developers at work and keep the system Perl clean

20:49 user_7901 I can only run Padre 0.76 as root; if I run it as a normal user, it crashes when I try to save a file. I checked and root does not own .padre. Any other suggestions?
