09:22 zenog dandv: The funny thing is, the followers of the WikiLeaks Twitter account are also publicly visible, kind of pointless to get a subpoena for that. There is other account information that is non-public, though.
09:23 zenog dandv: I am just discussing technical things here, no political opinion or call for criminal acts ...

09:32 dandv zenog: They don't just want the followers. "The information demanded by the DOJ is sweeping in scope.  It includes  all mailing addresses and billing information known for the user, all  connection records and session times, all IP addresses used to access  Twitter, all known email accounts, as well as the "means and source of  payment," including banking records and credit cards."
09:33 dandv IP addresses almost always map to home addresses at some point, through ISPs of cable or ISDN access. For mobile users, their position is tracked whenever they use their cell phone or tablet.
09:33 dandv In other words, if you follow WikiLeaks, the feds will knock at your door. They WILL get you.
09:42 zenog dandv: You are right on the first thing. The second, no. You did not break a law. Not a single one ;-)
09:44 dandv zenog: That doesn't matter in the US. Passengers are regularly strip-searched at airports by TSA without breaking any law, despite the constitution preventing unreasonable search without probable cause.
09:45 dandv And the Internet is going to be more and more regulated, see http://yro.slashdot.org/story/11/01/08/1227229/Obama-Eyeing-Internet-ID-For-Americans

12:44 szabgab hmm and by the time I look at the channel all the interesting talk about wikileaks is gone
12:44 dandv what would be a good way to have a key => value structure in memory that is automatically persisted to disk as it gets updated?
12:44 szabgab and azawawi has also logged out so I cannot tell him to finish the debugger in Padre :)
12:44 szabgab dandv: in general in Perl?
12:45 dandv szabgab: yes
12:45 dandv I'm using Moose already
12:46 dandv I suppose I could use a hash tied to a file? or a SQLite database accessed through DBIx::Class, but I'm looking for something easy
12:46 szabgab dandv: AnyDBM_File maybe?
12:47 szabgab yes a has tied to a file
12:47 kaare szabgab: How is the debugger coming along?
12:48 szabgab what is in padre I wrote about 6 or 12 month ago?
12:48 szabgab since then I have not touched it
12:48 szabgab and it looks like that :(
12:48 szabgab but I had some spare cycles in the last couple of days for some other minor issue
12:49 szabgab s
12:49 kaare szabgab:  It's on my wish list :-) http://blogs.perl.org/users/kaare/2010/12/my2010.html
12:51 El_Che kaare: I played a little when I had some hours available to have a Moose plugin
12:51 kaare Together with introspection. I saw there's a new version of http://search.cpan.org/dist/Devel-PerlySense/
12:51 El_Che I got stuck :)
12:51 kaare El_Che: On what?
12:52 El_Che To get the meta-data without running the program
12:52 kaare oh
12:53 kaare How does the perl6 plugin do it?
12:53 El_Che it's trivial to get the Moose classes info from Class::MOP
12:53 El_Che e.g.:
12:53 El_Che for my $method ( $meta->get_all_methods ) {
12:53 El_Che print $method->fully_qualified_name, "\n";
12:53 El_Che }
12:54 El_Che $meta is a Class::Mop Object
12:54 El_Che pretty neat
12:55 kaare But you need to new $meta first, or what's your problem?
12:56 kaare In fact, some of my worst itches don't have anything to do with Pardre, but with sdl.
12:57 kaare I can't get a clean install of SDL on OpenSUSE. I just have to force it. Me no like.
12:57 bayashi left #padre
12:57 kthakore kaare tell me in #sdl i can help
12:58 kthakore kaare a bug report would be nice
12:58 kaare kthakore: OK, can I paste a report there, or how do you like it?
12:58 kthakore or even sdl-devel@perl.org
12:59 kaare Will do, thanks
12:59 kthakore sdlperl.ath.cx register for future cases. ok gtg
12:59 kaare kthakore: The other nag I have from sdl is the copy buffer. It's not the same as linux, making it less than seamless.
13:00 kaare Don't know if you can do anyting about that

13:22 szabgab I was trying to update my author.js file
13:22 szabgab http://blogs.perl.org/users/olaf_alders/2011/01/which-cpan-author-fields-should-be-searchable.html
13:23 azawawi szabgab: i was looking at perldiag and i found an interesting bit of information
13:24 azawawi szabgab: Each warning message has (W category) infront of it, which means i could utilize that to generate a more user friendly message
13:25 azawawi szabgab: To disable in current lexical scope, please use: no warnings '$category';
13:25 azawawi szabgab: is it useful or not. what do you think?
13:26 szabgab sorry I was reading the blog of SawyerX
13:27 szabgab azawawi: it might be interesting but I am a bit worried that we are encouraging sweeping warnings under the carpet
13:27 szabgab or in this case under "no warnings"
13:28 szabgab so I wonder ifwe could give a recommendation on how to fix the specific warning and then as a last resort we can mention turning warnings off
13:28 szabgab I think giving the right category there would be very useful
13:29 szabgab if we manage to collect such recommendations thos might be pushed back to core perl if the p5p likes it
13:30 azawawi that's what quick fixes are for... btw
13:31 daxim > And I hereby withdraw any position against using git I may have held in the past.
13:32 daxim this hopefully means a conversion of ali.as and padre repos is coming in the near future.  again I offer my assistance
13:37 szabgab daxim: good but we should also be able to convert the other things we have around svn
13:37 szabgab eg. the integration with trac
13:37 szabgab commit messages?

13:38 daxim http://trac-hacks.org/wiki/GitPlugin
13:39 daxim I've seen commit notification as Atom feed somewhere, that's better than email anyway
13:39 szabgab daxim: please don't do that
13:39 szabgab it might be better for you
