03:47 Alias_ grr
03:47 Alias_ We seriously can't release Padre like this
03:47 Alias_ If the broken function list is still broken in release branch
03:50 Alias_ zenog: Your most recent commit has broken the function list on Win32

03:53 user_6331 Hi guys, I'm new to padre. Have a question about Help Search (F2). Any one care to offer help?
03:53 Alias_ hi
03:53 Alias_ What version of Padre?
03:53 user_6331 Padre 0.50
03:55 Alias_ ok
03:55 Alias_ Using a version that came with a Linux distro?
03:55 itcharlie joined #padre
03:56 user_6331 yes
03:56 itcharlie Hi
03:56 user_6331 Hi charlie
03:56 itcharlie hello user_6331
03:57 user_6331 what brings u up here?
03:57 Hyppolit svn: r13830 | adamk++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/13830
03:57 itcharlie I connect to this chat every once in a while
03:57 Hyppolit Only hijack LEFT_DCLICK on non-Win32 as it seems to kill double clicking entirely on Windows.
03:57 Hyppolit trunk/Padre/lib/Padre/Wx/
03:57 user_6331 Hi alias, did u come up with anything?
03:57 Alias_ user_6331: You haven't asked your question yet
03:58 Alias_ You just asked if you can ask
03:58 itcharlie :D
03:58 user_6331 Oh! LOL! I'm sorry.
03:59 user_6331 You know the Help context does not show any results when I put cursor in a keyword and do F2.
03:59 itcharlie user_6331:  What version is this for?
03:59 user_6331 Padre 0.50
04:00 user_6331 It just says "No help found." which of course is not that helpful :(
04:01 Alias_ That help dialog is a bit first-generation
04:01 Alias_ What happens if you put your cursor in the term field and hit backspace one past the field being empty
04:01 user_6331 it works for the guy in 1st video in http://padre.perlide.org/screenshots.html
04:01 Alias_ Which sounds silly, but it seems to work for me
04:02 Alias_ user_6331: You are using the Linux distro release
04:02 Alias_ Which means at the moment you are about 30 releases behind :)
04:02 jazzanova left #padre
04:04 user_6331 if i put the cursor past the keyword, then it takes the whole line back to previous line.
04:05 Alias_ What if you select the keyword
04:05 Alias_ I'm not sure if 0.50 has anything to "look around" the cursor for it's syntactic context
04:05 user_6331 even if i hi-light the keyword,it does the same
04:05 Alias_ Might need to select the keyword (double click or drag over it)
04:06 Alias_ Open the F2 help without selecting anything at all
04:06 Alias_ Then with the cursor in the empty "Type a help keyword to read:" box, hit backspace
04:07 Alias_ I have no fscking idea why that works, but it works for me
04:07 Alias_ I'm pretty sure that help thing USED to work for me though
04:07 jazzanova joined #padre
04:07 Alias_ Someone's let a bug creep in by the looks
04:08 user_6331 It opens up Help context page with text
04:08 Alias_ Need a screenshot I think
04:08 user_6331 How do i send u that?
04:09 itcharlie mailing list no?
04:09 Alias_ Not easily I suspect :)
04:09 Alias_ The Mibbit PasteBin doesn't have an image paste
04:09 Alias_ oh wait, help context...
04:09 Alias_ ok,
04:09 Alias_ define "with text"
04:09 Alias_ with text where
04:10 user_6331 with text in right pane of Help window
04:10 Alias_ "text"?
04:10 user_6331 http://mibpaste.com/LO5ixD
04:10 Alias_ Like "No help found" text, or the complete works of Tolkien? :)
04:11 user_6331 left #padre
04:11 Alias_ So blank?
04:11 Alias_ (There's nothing in that paste)
04:11 Alias_ Figured that might be coming

06:54 Alias_ And particularly double click
07:01 szabgab for me it gives a segmentation fault on Linux, but this specific installation does  that here and there
07:02 szabgab I might be missing some more wx related packages

09:59 jazzanova left #padre
09:59 fenderson can i try to reproduce the bugs with padre, or always from trunk?
10:08 waxhead szabgab, what version of perl do you have iwth the seg faulting padre?
10:12 waxhead how do I get padre to run under the perlbrew built perl, not the system perl?
10:12 waxhead hmm... should I install the Wx stuff again so it's all in the ~/perl5 ?
10:42 Sewi fenderson: You're free to try out any bug. Please write a comment to the ticket if you discover something new (like bug reason, bug already fixed, etc.)
10:55 waxhead anyone using perlbrew and built a perl with threads?
10:56 waxhead my google fu is letting me down... I have a non threaded perl 5.10.1 of course padre won't work with that

11:29 Alias waxhead: Double clicking a function in the function list does nothing
11:29 Alias On Win32
11:30 Alias It seems like Windows and Unix deal with double click events a bit differently

11:34 fenderson Sewi: ok thanks, i'm doing it now
11:55 waxhead alias, yeah I caught that in the backlog
11:55 waxhead can you add your fix to the branch?
11:55 Alias Can we confirm it's actually broken on the branch?
11:57 waxhead alias, I don't have a windows VM..
11:57 waxhead alias, I guess I could install it on my vista box...
11:57 waxhead I think the fix from zenog came after the branch though
11:58 waxhead I'm still trying to get a perlbrew setup for 5.10.1 to test the seg fault I'm getting
12:03 static left #padre
12:08 Alias What's the path to the branch
12:08 Alias I can just look at the Function List code directly on it
12:17 zenog Alias: Sorry for breaking it on Win32, but I only made changes to trunk wrt. the Function list
12:17 zenog Alias: It was while fixing the "double click does not work" bug (in trunk)
12:19 waxhead alias, http://svn.perlide.org/padre/branches/release-0.82
12:19 Alias So it was after the fork?
12:19 Alias ok, looks like it was
12:19 Alias So the release should be ok
12:20 waxhead I'll test it though
12:20 zenog Alias: yes; r13755 r13754 r13756
12:20 Hyppolit Changeset #13755 http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/13755

12:20 zenog Ticket #967
12:20 Hyppolit #967: Reset focus (closed defect) [ http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/967#comment:7 ]
12:20 Alias zenog: What I find interesting it why the behaviour is different between Win32 and what I assume is GTK (that you are using)
12:20 waxhead that's a question though, how do I build various tar ball release candidates and install them?
12:20 zenog Alias: Yes.
12:21 zenog Alias: does double click now work in Win32?
12:21 waxhead should I set the version in modules to something like 0.82-RC1 ?
12:21 Alias zeog: I put a unless ( Padre::Constant::WXWIN32 ) { ... } around your null event
12:21 Alias That's a workaround at best
12:22 Alias It would be nice to know WHY it happened, rather than just fixing it :)
12:22 zenog Alias: If it works on Win32 and Unix, than it is a solution ;-)
12:22 zenog Alias: Could be a Wx/WxPerl bug, though.
12:24 waxhead you can always ask on the Wx mailing list.. :)
12:24 Hyppolit #967: Reset focus (closed defect) [ http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/967#comment:8 ]
12:24 zenog Well, I do not have so much time these days ... CeBIT is next week, and we are still preparing the booth ...
12:24 zenog lunch &
12:25 Alias I'm more or less happy with my workaround
12:25 Alias There's bigger fish to fry
12:27 waxhead I guess I can ask...
12:31 Sewi zenog: Where are you on CeBit?
12:50 waxhead hmmm can't use pip to install to a perlbrew setup...
12:50 waxhead OK.. time for bed.. I'll google howto install to a perlbrewed setup
12:50 waxhead tmorrow
12:58 El_Che lo
12:59 zenog Sewi: At the Lower Saxony universities' booth
12:59 zenog Sewi: If you need a ticket just tell me.
13:01 zenog hi El_Che
13:09 El_Che I am writing a program that takes sources, evaluates it (Autoconf, perl, etc) and creates a Solaris package. To do that I need a modules that automatically set ups a chroot (for the make install). Would it be a good idea to release that module in CPAN? something as Unix::ChrootSetup?
13:09 El_Che of too small to release?
13:10 zenog El_Che: It would totally make sense to release this. If it is useful for you, it may be useful for others as well.
13:13 El_Che the thing is that I can release the thing as an application (Solaris::Src2Pkg or something)
13:13 El_Che or split it up and make some thing unix-generic
13:13 asarch joined #padre
13:13 El_Che 1 step is analysing a directory with sources, decide what it is and compile it
13:14 El_Che for what it doesn't know you can add your own class as a plugin
13:15 El_Che anyway, we will see
13:20 zenog If it is easy to separate, why not. If it takes extra effort, you must judge how you want to spend your time ... you can also first work on improving the Solaris use case and later make it more portable.
13:39 fenderson hey if i tested bug that happened on windows and i'm using ubutu

13:39 fenderson its worth adding about it

14:06 fenderson someone tried printing a page with 197 lines and padre went to 100% cpu
14:06 fenderson i tried the same thing in ubuntu and the printer gave me a empty page
14:10 Sewi fenderson: You could add some debug statements to the code and test it or run dev.pl with --fulltrace (produces a lot of output and makes Padre slow) and look where it's looping
