06:05 azawawi good morning
06:07 szabgab gm all
06:08 azawawi El_Che, Sewi: ping
06:08 azawawi szabgab: gm
06:09 azawawi In Java, you do not depend a lot on a GUI editor
06:09 shadowpaste "szabgab" at 217.168.150.38 pasted "wx-scintilla failuer" (992 lines) at http://paste.scsys.co.uk/114828
06:09 azawawi since things have changed in Java GUI toolkits
06:09 azawawi we have a very flexible layout manager now http://www.miglayout.com/
06:10 azawawi and it works with Swing (Cross-platform customizable L&F) and SWT (Native widgets)
06:10 szabgab so how you don't "draw" the guis in Java?
06:11 azawawi similar to resizers
06:11 azawawi in Wx
06:11 azawawi but very very flexible
06:11 szabgab so you just code them?
06:11 azawawi ratios
06:11 azawawi 100px
06:11 azawawi 50%
06:11 azawawi similar to CSS
06:11 azawawi auto-alignment
06:11 szabgab yeah, but you say you don't use a wysiwyg editor ?
06:11 azawawi etc...
06:12 azawawi nop no need
06:12 k2t0f12d joined #padre
06:12 szabgab interesting, my route in the GUI world was - when using GTK
06:13 azawawi once you are addicted to CSS-style stuff, you begin to write very flexible GUIs in Java
06:13 azawawi and MigLayout
06:13 szabgab 1) hand code , 2) learned Glade, used it 3) reverted to hand code as there were lots of dynamicly generated pages
06:13 szabgab so in the end I stopped using Glade
06:13 azawawi GUI editors are good for starting a codebase
06:13 azawawi similar to UML tools
06:13 toi joined #padre
06:13 szabgab yes, probably
06:13 azawawi afterwards maintaining code can be troublesome
06:14 azawawi left #padre
06:14 azawawi joined #padre
06:14 szabgab and for people who don't want to invest a lot in their application
06:14 szabgab and have not yet learned the lower level things
06:14 azawawi GUI editors is the way
06:14 szabgab but  Ithink that's the majority
06:14 azawawi but one you learn MigLayout, it is like HTML over Java... :)
06:15 azawawi s/one/once
06:15 szabgab anyway, I was looking at the stats of my youtube channel and I am quite disappointed
06:15 szabgab it might be a bit too early after I restarted the channel
06:15 azawawi it takes time
06:16 azawawi we should polish the website
06:16 azawawi something similar to mojolicious
06:16 szabgab but I think I could only get about 100-150 views on my previous posts
06:16 azawawi and more easy installers over more platforms
06:16 szabgab and the "padre on strawberry" got less than 40 so far
06:17 azawawi szabgab: do you know when i posted a tweet for 'Early Linux support' in Wx::Scintilla
06:17 szabgab yeah we need those installers too
06:17 azawawi i got like 10 CPAN testing reports the next day!
06:17 azawawi i think that was for Wx::Scintilla 0.06
06:17 k2t0f12d purl, source code?
06:18 szabgab no purl here
06:18 szabgab svn?
06:18 Hyppolit svn is http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/DownloadRepository and also http://svn.perlide.org/padre/trunk/ and also http://padre.perlide.org/trac/browser
06:18 szabgab if that's what you were looking for k2t0f12d
06:19 szabgab azawawi: yeah, that's nice
06:19 szabgab it is about the total number of active CPAN testers :0
06:20 azawawi dont worry i'll setup a leveling server after i hook up internet in my new house :)
06:20 szabgab "leveling server" ?
06:20 azawawi s/leveling/testing/ :)
06:20 azawawi hehe
06:20 szabgab aha
06:21 azawawi http://irclog.perlgeek.de/perl6/2011-06-20#i_3966098    # perl6.vim is slow, enemy weakness :)
06:21 k2t0f12d opps :D
06:21 szabgab I was thinking to create a series of screencasts for windows sysadmins
06:22 szabgab I just have no clue what kind of things they might need to deal with where Perl could help :)
06:23 azawawi windows sysadmins are hooked on new win32 tools
06:23 szabgab azawawi: so if you have windows sysadmin friends, maybe you could ask them?
06:23 azawawi ok let me explain what's the problem with Perl and sysadmin from my point of view
06:23 szabgab what new tools?
06:23 szabgab ok
06:23 azawawi MSFT tools
06:23 azawawi they have a new shell instead of cmd that is based on .net
06:23 azawawi very flexible
06:24 azawawi http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_PowerShell
06:24 szabgab yeah I was reading a bit about it
06:24 azawawi ok i was an admin for a short period at one time
06:24 szabgab and was trying to take examples form there and implement them in PErl
06:24 azawawi solaris + win32 ... small setup
06:25 szabgab I was too when NT was the rage :)
06:25 azawawi first in win32, UAC (User Account Control) and Perl do not mix together!
06:25 azawawi we failed to improve win32 tools to work better with UAC
06:25 azawawi UAC = sudo
06:25 azawawi UAC = stupid form of sudo :)
06:26 szabgab :)
06:26 azawawi the thing is in UAC you need the executable in its manifest to declare its intent
06:26 azawawi what security level to work at
06:27 azawawi this ofcourse became a problem when i tried Win32::Shortcut and padre --desktop # desktop integration feature
06:27 azawawi you cannot call an API to elevate your security level
06:27 azawawi you need to call another executable with pre-declared elevated right
06:28 Alias Curious
06:28 azawawi that's what i found out while i was playing with padre --desktop
06:28 Alias I wonder if I could make a Process.pm extension for that
06:28 azawawi Alias: hi :)
06:28 Alias I'm getting close to finishing the main set of features for the wxFormBuilder integration
06:29 azawawi i searched for an API in MSDN to elevate but no luck...
06:29 Alias I'm halfway through menu support, and then just toolbar and a few bits and pieces
06:29 azawawi cool
06:29 szabgab hi Alias
06:29 Alias Oh, and image integration (which is a bit tricky)
06:29 azawawi Alias++
06:29 szabgab I was hoping you'll give some description on how you would hope the searches work in Padre
06:29 szabgab so we won't get people "fixing" the searches in a way that are incompatibale with your plans
06:30 Alias Well, he "fixed" it the way I wanted
06:30 szabgab then ok :)
06:30 Alias But unfortunately, didn't check that the fast find was usable yet first
06:30 szabgab but still I'd like to have some description
06:30 Alias And didn't implement it as a parallel command name, so we couldn't hide it behind a config options
06:30 szabgab so we can test against it
06:31 szabgab even if "only" manually
06:31 azawawi szabgab: so to summarize, sysadmins need 'trusted' *binary* *GUI* tools since they do not compile on win32... a lot of them prefer single executable downloadable application which does not play with the registry at all
06:31 azawawi szabgab: you do not want to play with the registry on a production server...
06:32 azawawi szabgab: that's why a lot of win32 tools have single executable option. No need to install it at all. You just run it. Examples (VNC server for remote access, FilleZilla, SciTE - Scintilla)
06:32 szabgab I am sure someone here will be able to make a wrapper around perl to do this, right? :)
06:33 azawawi szabgab: sure it is not a big deal... declare it in the manifest and you have it
06:33 Alias Portable Strawberry is too big I take it
06:34 Alias Powershell has one big feature Perl doesn't, consistency
06:34 Alias All our APIs are fragmented and written by a dozen people
06:34 Alias Win32 stuff is large, monolithic, complete, and fairly well designed
06:34 Alias Plus some basic stuff still doesn't work, like socket timouts
06:35 azawawi in short, sysadmins like consistent, stable, binary, compact, trusted, safe, swiss army tools ... they like things like http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/ :)
06:35 azawawi total commander is wonderful
06:35 azawawi and you need to run in user-land
06:35 azawawi and elevate when needed
06:35 azawawi Alias: true
06:36 Alias You know there's a whitepaper inside Microsoft doing a competative analysis between Perl and Powershell
06:36 Alias I know it exists, but I've never had a chance to see it
06:36 Alias Was produced by the Open Source Labs people
06:37 azawawi http://stackoverflow.com/questions/573623/powershell-vs-unix-shells
06:38 azawawi szabgab: to me the smaller the swiss-army tool the better...
06:38 Sewi The .net framework comes as downloadable libraries, same for Java.
06:38 azawawi Alias: we need to trim some deps :)
06:38 azawawi Alias: i was thinking of dropping some features that dont work... archive them somewhere
06:39 szabgab I don't think we can go for "small"
06:39 Sewi Is it possible to create a small perl launcher exe which contains a (maybe compiled, maybe raw) Perl script which just calls the strawberry "lib"?
06:39 szabgab see even plain strawberry is big but if you include Wx that gets a lot bigger
06:39 Alias szabgab: Hence Strawberry Professional
06:39 Alias ...
06:39 Alias :)
06:39 szabgab and Frozen Bubble, which is a must in a sysadmin tool is just huge :)
06:39 Alias azawawi: What deps? I've trimmed fairly hard
06:40 Alias azawawi: I'm not so worried about most of our deps, since most are pretty reliable installs
06:40 Sewi Apps could be one-file-exe and you have to install the strawberry runtime if you don't have it already
06:41 Alias Now THAT we've not done yet
06:41 Alias If you pulled out gcc and a bunch of other tools, and you pod-stripped all the modules, etc etc you could probably shrink it a fair bit
06:42 Sewi The strawberry runtime could be 200MB and people would download it anyway :)
06:42 szabgab the latest PoS is 70M download and 380Mb unpacked
06:43 Alias Having to specify the dependency order still is killing development
06:43 k2t0f12d left #padre
06:43 Alias Plus the new builder code uses every heavy-ass fad in the world
06:43 Alias Readonly.pm, Moose, plugin overload
06:43 azawawi btw, I created before a compressed filesystem for Java Mobile game project in my previous work. It did wonders. I was able to run with a lot of graphics and install on older models. The access time was acceptable for that turn-based card RPG game
06:48 azawawi Alias: you mean in strawberry dist, right?
06:50 marcela joined #padre
06:52 Alias azawawi: No, in the actual builder code
06:52 Alias So it's really hard to hack on it
06:52 Alias And improve the builder
06:52 Alias Now we have MYMETA.yml I should probably write my own cpan client from scratch so I can integrate the dependency walking with the MSI component generation properly
06:54 azawawi Alias: i wonder why we (win32) like MSI a lot. It is slow
06:54 azawawi Alias: i know the upgrade/repair thing is cool but uninstallation takes a lot of time
06:55 azawawi Alias: in my opinion MSI was developed for small big-files installation... Not a lot of small .pm files
06:55 Alias OK, there's one primary reason
06:55 Alias MSI supports ActiveDirectory mass installation
06:55 Alias It integrates into corporate deployment systems
06:55 azawawi true
06:56 Alias It was THE number one email enquiry I kept getting from companies
06:56 Alias To move from .exe to .msi so they could use it at scale
06:56 azawawi for me, faster development = .exe
06:56 Alias Witness, last weekend I got an email from Citigroup asking me to sign some kind of crypto thing so they can do a mass rollout
06:56 azawawi for admins, msi yes
06:56 Alias I don't think MSI slows down development too much
06:56 Alias I blame the new API
06:57 Alias My original one was one big class, with a clean layout and fairly easy to hack on
06:57 Alias The new one is a zillion classes and moose and cargo culting everywhere
06:57 Alias And the default install can't built a Perl distro
06:57 Alias The one major negative from exe to msi is the need to componentise each module
06:58 azawawi and it didnt fix the compile-package-install-fail loop...
06:58 Alias Which has temporarily broken recursion during the module stage
06:58 Alias Nope
06:58 Alias Well, kinda
06:58 Alias For things that sub-class strawberry, it now has a msm
06:58 Alias So you can start on a pre-compiled Strawberry base, and add extra stuff on top
06:58 Alias Which also means you can install Chocolate Perl over the top of an existing Strawberry
06:58 Alias And do upgrades and downgrades etc
06:59 Alias It's horrible, but it gives some features that just aren't possible otherwise
06:59 Alias I just think that Perl::Dist::WiX has been written a bit naively
06:59 Alias It screams of "my first big application" syndrome
07:00 Alias When I look back at my first big application, I see a lot of the same problems
07:01 azawawi i see
07:01 azawawi I think subversion 1.7 will move a lot of people back from git
07:01 azawawi SQL-lite filesystem
07:01 Alias Neat
07:01 azawawi single .svn directory
07:02 Alias At the root?
07:02 Alias I do hope they keep it inside the checkout
07:02 Alias Having it in a home directory makes introspection almost impossible
07:02 azawawi yup
07:02 azawawi remote dump
07:03 azawawi svn patch
07:03 azawawi and a better HTTP protocol
07:03 Alias ooo, maybe I can finally accept patches from people
07:03 azawawi so once svn 1.7 is here, we move to it
07:03 Alias I never did get around to writing the patch tools for Padre
07:03 azawawi Alias: i already accept patches via TortoisnSVN
07:03 Alias I have that thing
07:04 Alias Use RapidSVN myself
07:04 szabgab azawawi: does it require upgrade on the server side as well?
07:04 Alias Prefer the traditional tree/commander interface
07:04 azawawi szabgab: ofcourse :)
07:04 Alias Minor revisions of svn are incompatible about half the time
07:04 azawawi http://subversion.apache.org/docs/release-notes/1.7.html
07:04 szabgab lovely
07:04 Alias Although if you are lucky they are backcompatible
07:04 Alias Old client new server usually ok
07:04 Alias New client, old server can get you in trouble :)
07:05 azawawi szabgab: basically it is svn dump, svn load... or something like that
07:05 azawawi Alias: true
07:05 szabgab sure but I need to install it on the server
07:05 szabgab and connect it to apache
07:05 azawawi szabgab: it is not 'stable'
07:05 szabgab and then I lose my warranty of the linux distro :(
07:06 Sewi szabgab: It will go to the distros sooner or later
07:06 szabgab and I don't want to go to manual maintenance of the Apache versions and then mod_perl as well
07:06 Sewi And users will start accepting and using it once it's there :-)
07:06 szabgab Sewi: sure, that would be ok
07:06 Alias I need to ditch my old svn.ali.as virtual, it's getting ancient
07:07 Alias It's also more expensive than just having an amazon micro server
07:07 Alias svn 1.7 might be a good excuse to move
07:07 szabgab I am contemplating to try a Linnode virtual
07:07 azawawi rimuhosting or linode...
07:07 szabgab and maybe move all the padre stuff there
07:08 azawawi both services are stable.  tried them both
07:08 szabgab svn server, trac, Hyppolit , web server, what else is there?
07:08 azawawi linode you can do it all yourself
07:08 azawawi and very helpful forums and support
07:08 Alias You mean you HAVE to do it yourself :)
07:08 szabgab I have a linode t-shirt from last yapc::na
07:09 Alias The Amazon micro instances are pretty cheap
07:09 azawawi your support = active user forum
07:09 azawawi Alias: didnt try amazon though
07:09 Sewi Alias: Amazon tends to loose your data from time to time :-)
07:09 Alias :)
07:09 azawawi Alias: rimuhosting are cool in their quick email support
07:09 Alias szabgab: Whatever happens, we also need to get moving on the Padre server stuff at some point
07:10 Alias Some kind of development workflow at least
07:10 azawawi Alias: and they dont have the IO-bucket limiter like linode
07:10 azawawi i wonder if linode dropped the IO-bucket limiter
07:10 azawawi when they moved to Xen
07:10 azawawi backing/restoring a mysql backup meant your linode can simply freeze
07:10 Alias AWS micro instances are $54 per year
07:11 Alias $84 for three years
07:11 azawawi cheap
07:11 Alias plus ...
07:11 Alias 10c/gig inbound, 15c/gig outbound after the first gig/month
07:12 Alias For Trac/svn/etc that shouldn't be a big deal at all
07:12 azawawi szabgab: wx::scintilla for linux is broken. will fix today.

08:59 bowtie waxhead, did you find a licence file?
08:59 waxhead I haven't looked yet...
09:01 bowtie waxhead, I originally scanned local trunk, and tried a search in trac, before I created a ticket,
09:02 waxhead bowtie, OK.. I'm not going to do it this release, we'll have it for 0.88 though...
09:03 bowtie waxhead, I will keep pooking around look for anomalies
09:03 CargoIT guys, noone of you is blastn expert? i will be too lucky if you are.

09:36 Sewi CargoIT: You know PAR?
09:39 CargoIT Sewi never heard
09:41 CargoIT something i should need to know? :D
09:42 Sewi PAR packs a Perl script into an EXE file. Good if you want to distribute your GUI app (we were talking about yesterday...)
09:44 CargoIT ah , cool... but i think i will distribute it opensource in .pl if i can

09:55 bowtie Any body want to define what should be in ConfigDB.History, are multiple occurrences acceptable ?

11:53 szabgab azawawi: I have an issue with wx::scintilla
11:53 szabgab on my broken suse I managed to install it
11:53 szabgab Wx-Scintilla-0.13.tar.gz from CPAN

11:56 zenog azawawi: Is 5.10.1 supported?
11:57 szabgab azawawi: the tests passed and the thingy was installed
11:57 szabgab or maybe it skipped the tests?
11:59 azawawi skipped? not a chance
11:59 azawawi unless...
11:59 azawawi $ENV{DISPLAY} is empty
12:00 azawawi im upgrading my ubuntu 11.04 to use newer perls along with a newer rakudo

12:05 szabgab azawawi: manual test works well
12:05 bowtie azawawi, Wx-Scintilla-0.13 fails for me to :(
12:06 szabgab the perl -MWx::Wcintilla -e1 works while inside the shell that was launched from the cpan client

13:27 azawawi padre doesnt correctly handle keywords highlighting.
13:28 azawawi since in Scintilla, lexers only know how to highlight stuff that is given to it via SetKeyWords(...)
13:29 bowtie azawawi, thanks, night
13:29 azawawi my plans for the next version of Padre
13:29 azawawi built-in Perl 6 support
13:30 azawawi integrates with rakudo
13:30 azawawi highlight Perl 6 code very fast
13:30 azawawi highlight Perl 5 better
13:31 azawawi Try to move Wx::Scintilla to latest
13:31 azawawi we're now at 1.79, hopefully i will be able to merge wxWidgets 2.9.x changes into wxWidgets 2.8.x
13:36 zenog azawawi: I observe that with Wx::Scintilla activated, Padre does not update the (*) "file modified" info on the tab; you need to switch tabs before it shows up. Is this a known issue? Shall I write a ticket?

13:49 Hyppolit # 1232 :  [Wx::Scintilla] "modified" display ("*") is not updated with Wx::Scintilla (new defect) [ http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/1232 ]
13:50 zenog azawawi: there it is ...
13:51 zenog azawawi: Which version of scintilla do we currently use?
13:52 azawawi 1.79
13:52 azawawi if you use Wx::Scintilla
13:52 azawawi which is the last stable in 1.x scintilla branch
13:54 zenog azawawi: I guess you have plans to switch to 2.x, right?
13:55 azawawi zenog: yup
13:56 azawawi zenog: it is an exercise of diff-ing Wx::STC 1.79 vs 2.03
13:56 zenog azawawi: cool ...
13:56 azawawi zenog: the real issue is with the compilation part though... maybe there is new libs etc...
13:57 azawawi zenog: migrating wxwidgets APIs etc
13:57 zenog hm
13:57 bowtie why 2.03 and not 2.20 ?
13:57 azawawi bowtie: cool question
13:57 azawawi bowtie: because Wx::STC is a contributed project to wxWidgets
13:58 azawawi hence it is not updated at the time
13:58 azawawi when wxwidgets is released
13:58 bowtie azawawi, I meet scintilla v2.20
13:59 azawawi think of wxWidgets as Debian stable... :)
13:59 azawawi and Wx::STC as a contributed package looking for a chance to get included in the final product
13:59 azawawi whenever they release a new major wxWidgets, they update Wx::STC
14:01 bowtie dependencies three steps removed, got it. :)
14:01 azawawi so we handle Wx::STC as Wx::Scintilla
14:01 azawawi and make our own modification to scintilla
14:02 azawawi and fix perl 5 and add a proper perl 6 lexer
14:02 azawawi Wx::Scintilla is not only for Padre
14:02 azawawi Kephra is also going to have it
14:02 zenog 2.27 was released yesterday ;-)
14:03 azawawi i have it :)
14:03 zenog azawawi: and the lexer can then be given back upstream, right?
14:03 azawawi i tried to backport LexPerl.cxx to our own and failed :)
14:03 azawawi zenog: true
14:03 azawawi hence big win for Perl
14:03 azawawi across the board
14:05 azawawi so perl6 development will eventually get better tools
14:05 zenog azawawi: This is what I also like about what many Padre developers are doing: They develop stuff that also others can profit from.
14:05 azawawi and perl5 production will have better tools
14:05 zenog azawawi: Taking and giving ...
14:05 azawawi Generally that's the Perl community
14:07 azawawi im noticing that Perl is going in the right direction now
14:07 azawawi a lot of momentum is building up on all fronts
14:08 azawawi if we continue gradually improving things and innovating, then... :)
14:08 azawawi world domination :)

17:24 nilsonsfj Hi, I found a minor bug in Padre - should I just create a new ticket on trac? (the docs mentioned I should try talking to one of the devs here first)
17:27 azawawi nilsonsfj: hi
17:27 azawawi nilsonsfj: what's the bug?
17:28 Sewi left #padre

17:35 nilsonsfj azawawi: if you triple-click an empty area, below the last shown file, in the "Project" pane, padre exits
17:35 * azawawi tries it
17:35 nilsonsfj with the right mouse button
17:35 azawawi yup
17:36 azawawi nice catch
17:36 nilsonsfj (don't ask me how I found that haha)
17:36 azawawi :)
17:38 nilsonsfj ok, so, should I create a trac ticket or it's not necessary?
17:40 zenog nilsonsfj: Please create a trac ticket.
17:40 zenog nilsonsfj: that'd great
17:40 zenog nilsonsfj: Do you have a trac account?
17:41 azawawi nilsonsfj: nah, im fixing it
17:41 azawawi nilsonsfj: but making a trac account would be better for future bugs
17:42 nilsonsfj I don't have a trac account, I guess you need to manually create it, right?
17:42 zenog nilsonsfj: we need to open the registration, wait a second please
17:45 Hyppolit svn: r14716 | azawawi++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/14716
17:45 Hyppolit Handle Padre crash when a triple right click is performed on the project pane's empty space (nilsonsfj++)
17:45 Hyppolit trunk/Padre/ trunk/Padre/lib/Padre/Wx/Directory/
17:48 szabgab $PATH is driving me crazy
17:48 szabgab which perl tells me /home/szabgab/perl5/bin/perl
17:49 szabgab if I run /home/szabgab/perl5/bin/perl -v I get 5.14
17:49 szabgab if I run perl -v    I get 5.10
17:49 szabgab what the @#$@%@@ ?
17:49 El_Che lo
17:49 El_Che hi szabgab
17:49 El_Che have you tried setting the $CLASSPATH? ;p
17:50 azawawi :)
17:50 El_Che szabgab: again on the broken suse machine?
17:50 szabgab El_Che: nope this is my own "localhost"
17:51 szabgab nilsonsfj: plse register now at
17:51 szabgab trac?
17:51 Hyppolit trac is http://padre.perlide.org/trac
17:51 szabgab register?
17:51 Hyppolit register is http://padre.perlide.org/trac/register
17:51 szabgab the latter :)
17:52 zenog nilsonsfj: Go ahead ;-)
17:52 zenog szabgab: Thanks!
17:53 El_Che szabgab: are you running those commands in the same shell?
17:54 nilsonsfj done
17:54 zenog nilsonsfj: great
17:54 zenog registration is closed again
17:56 nilsonsfj I'll be using Padre during the next few days to see if I can adapt to it. It looks great - a lot of progress since the last time I checked.
17:56 nilsonsfj I'll let you know if I find any other bugs
17:56 El_Che once you get used to it, you can make it better :)
17:56 El_Che that's szabgab's trick
17:56 nilsonsfj yeah, I guess that's the point of using an IDE written in Perl. ;-)
17:57 zenog nilsonsfj: Please do so! We can only make our users happy if they tell us what makes them unhappy!
17:58 zenog nilsonsfj: Once you get used to it, you can also write a plugin or two ;-)
17:58 El_Che zenog: I don't like suffering seals

18:06 Hyppolit svn: r14717 | zenogantner++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/14717
18:06 Hyppolit bumped to version 0.11
18:06 Hyppolit trunk/Padre-Plugin-LaTeX/
18:07 nilsonsfj I guess I found another minor issue. Not sure if it warrants a trac ticket. "Prerences/Behaviour/Default projects directory" isn't saving my input.
18:09 zenog nilsonsfj: Same here. Nice catch. You can either fix it, or write a trac ticket. Or both ;-)
18:10 szabgab El_Che: Iyeah. same shell but it now disappeared
18:11 szabgab so maybe I frank too much
18:11 szabgab or too little
18:11 nilsonsfj Right now, I can't fix anything. :(
18:11 nilsonsfj So I'll open a trac ticket then. Maybe in a couple of weeks I can venture into the Padre codebase
18:13 zenog nilsonsfj: Don't worry.
18:14 zenog nilsonsfj: We appreciate every kind of contribution, in particular well-written bug reports.
18:15 Sewi bowtie: Trunk is defined as unstable and if we'd release only 100% stable and bug free versions, we'd be Debian: No software newer than 10 years :-)
18:21 danlucraft left #padre
18:30 bowtie Sewi, thanks for that, I had no idea that padre trunk = unstable, I had assumed beta/RC1, silly me. :)
18:30 Sewi don't blame youself, blame us :-)
18:31 Sewi It's good to have a stable trunk, but it's impossible for such a complex application like Padre :)
18:31 nilsonsfj I can't create a new trac ticket: "TICKET_CREATE privileges are required to perform this operation"
18:31 Sewi trunk goes to the release branch for some days up to some weeks and once branch is stable, it's released. (In theory)
18:31 Sewi nilsonsfj: Which trac username do you have?
18:33 Sewi zenog: Is it usual that you don't promote at the university where you studied?
18:34 bowtie Sewi, we have a RELEASE BRANCH!!, how does waxhead know what to move from trunk to release?
18:34 Sewi The release branch is a copy of trunk. While new updates go to trunk, only fixes go to the release branch
18:35 zenog nilsonsfj: Strange, you should have the privileges ...
18:35 zenog nilsonsfj: Can you check if you are logged in?
18:36 zenog Sewi: You mean graduate studies/PhDs?
18:36 Sewi zenog: studieren und promovieren
18:36 zenog Sewi: Both is usual. Often, you do your PhD in the group where you also did your Master's degree, and often you'll try to find employment/a PhD position somewhere else.
18:37 Sewi CargoIT: (sorry for off topic) This might be interesting to you: http://idw-online.de/pages/de/news429278
18:37 Sewi zenog: thanks
18:37 zenog Sewi: I am at the same group where I did my MSc, but the group moved to another university ;-)
18:38 Sewi ;)
18:38 zenog I think I gotta go home ...
18:38 zenog nilsonsfj: does it work now?
18:39 Sewi zenog: You have trac admin?
18:41 zenog Sewi: yes ... so if something breaks you know who to blame :-P
18:41 zenog Sewi: Someone gave it to me after I hung around in the channel too much.
18:42 zenog ... so NOW I really have to leave &
18:47 nilsonsfj nope... still doesn't work :(
18:48 Sewi zenog: I was asking because I was afk bringing the kids to bed.
18:49 Sewi nilsonsfj: Does trac show you "logged in as nilsonsfj | Logout | Preferences..." at the top right?
18:51 nilsonsfj yes, it shows I'm logged in at: http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Tickets
18:51 nilsonsfj however, after the error message, it seems to log me out
18:52 Sewi Sounds like a cookie or firewall or browser problem, it works here

20:04 CargoIT i used molecular dynamic softweres douring my university courses... it will be interesting see something like this on a cell -phone :D and if i's free i can suggest it to some Android users friends
20:05 Sewi I'm sure the developers would be happy to get feedback from users :)
20:07 CargoIT is't there an english version of the news? it could be more easy to share between non-german people :P
20:07 Sewi I didn't find one, but there was a press contact at the bottom, drop them a line.
20:14 CargoIT found and shared... thanx facebook XD
