02:47 cluelessnewbie hi, I did the patch from 1221 and my "white lines"/"gray bars" aren't a problem any more --- specifics, Natty Narwhal
02:48 cluelessnewbie but ticket 1261 is open and 1221 is closed, so if they're the same, just different descriptions, then you could link 1261 to 1221 and close it too.
02:49 tome I agree, thank you for the report

02:52 cluelessnewbie I don't know enough about PPI but I'd like to express my appreciation for all of Adams work on DBD::SQLite etc, etc, etc
03:03 cluelessnewbie Is there anything that explains what the various advance settings do? Like Adam I come from Ultraedit and am trying to "port" the feel.
03:06 cluelessnewbie For example if I come from a long line and move to up/down to a shorter line, I'll like for it to just move up/down rather than track the line end

11:12 submersible_toaster fwoar - more deps.
11:12 submersible_toaster has P-P-Patch gone core/
11:12 submersible_toaster ?
11:17 bowtie submersible_toaster, P-P-Patch has been added to Padre Edit->Patch-2, it's deps are perl mods to perform diff and patch as requested by Alias, ie Text::Diff , Text::Patch and File::Slurp,
11:19 bowtie you like or dislike ?
11:20 submersible_toaster hold on
11:20 submersible_toaster chasing down this Wx::HTML stuff -
11:20 bowtie ok
11:20 daxim P-P-Powerbook
11:20 bowtie see above
11:23 bowtie submersible_toaster, just comment it out
11:23 submersible_toaster i see.
11:23 submersible_toaster bowtie: so i have got a patch from SVN. reverted the file by hand... how to apply?
11:25 bowtie submersible_toaster, I don't understand "reverted the file by hand"
11:25 submersible_toaster svn revert $file
11:26 submersible_toaster so now I have a clean working copy ... and a patch open in padre.. how do I tell Patch-2 to apply it?
11:26 bowtie submersible_toaster, you mean roll back to an old revision?
11:26 submersible_toaster forget everything I have just said.
11:26 submersible_toaster given Foo.pm.patch -open in editor , how do i apply to Foo.pm , also open in editor?
11:27 bowtie file-1 will be Foo and file-2 will be foo patch
11:28 bowtie you should have patch selected
11:29 bowtie then select foo.pm in file-1
11:29 bowtie file-2 should only show patch/diffs
11:30 submersible_toaster ah - got it.
11:30 bowtie ie select action then against then file 1 and file 2 if appropate
11:31 submersible_toaster is there _any_ diagnostic on fail  ? like with /usr/bin/patch ?
11:31 bowtie submersible_toaster, message in status line
11:31 submersible_toaster cool . works for me
11:32 bowtie but if you want full message you can enable it's logger to see loads of stuff
11:32 submersible_toaster i think it should warn and still spit out whatever mangled mess it made :)
11:37 bowtie I will add wiki page later when accepted, but there is some POD already
11:38 bowtie submersible_toaster, you can modify your style for x/patch to if you like :)
11:38 bowtie submersible_toaster, if you want to diff against trunk you will need SVN::Class to get the against svn radio to be enabled
11:39 bowtie Output window or Terminal ?
11:50 submersible_toaster bowtie: output into editor - the Unsaved patched result goes there - why not the mangled mess
11:52 bowtie ok I will have a play with P-P-Patch and then migrate to trunk when working, any other feedback?
11:53 submersible_toaster interface breaks my brain ... and it is modal
11:53 submersible_toaster :(
11:55 bowtie yes, I agree, plugin is not, awating info from Alias as to fix for trunk version to remove ShowModal with Show but it faild to load when I tried that, I thinkt I will look at Plugin Manager as it is not only nonModal but multi instance
11:56 bowtie what else?
11:57 submersible_toaster do u plan to support diff project / patch project - more than one target in a patch
11:57 bowtie submersible_toaster,  as for interface that's the nth version over several days, thanks :)
11:59 bowtie submersible_toaster, no it's supposed to be simplistic, only saved files in editor, one file (file-1) then patch, diff or diff svn. with the dialog updating the lists accordingly
12:02 bowtie ie your choice, Action and Against
12:02 submersible_toaster bowtie:  it would also be nice to hook context menu for a document that is diff/patch mimetype... rightclick->apply patch
12:02 submersible_toaster that's all i've got
12:04 bowtie submersible_toaster, you mean add Patch-2 to Padre right-mouse-click?
12:04 submersible_toaster no
12:05 submersible_toaster i mean right clicking in a patch file should provide the context menu option to just apply it - without bothering me with a dialog
12:05 submersible_toaster dwim
12:11 Hyppolit svn: r16126 | submersible_toaster++ | http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/16126
12:11 Hyppolit so many plugins use this method , why did it not already return the new document ?
12:11 Hyppolit ->main->new_document_from_string now returns the document instead of '1
12:11 Hyppolit trunk/Padre/lib/Padre/Wx/
12:11 bowtie submersible_toaster, you preload dialog from right mouse in patch file leaving use to select File-1 to be patch and then process
12:12 submersible_toaster bowtie: some kind of intuition for the simple case of a patch file with one target which is open in the editor already or is a member of the current project
12:12 submersible_toaster tricky - by would be a most awesome feature
12:16 bowtie submersible_toaster, it's do able, the structure could support this, but I don't now how to alter the right click on a patch file though?
12:23 cluelessnewbie joined #padre
12:25 submersible_toaster i think a plugin can register interest in a document-type
12:28 bowtie submersible_toaster, this is a zenod sewi type question, I think I will look at dumping patch error to unsave file though, did I mention it's expecting STYLE => 'Unified' as it's a simplistic
12:28 bowtie scratch last a
12:29 bowtie submersible_toaster, thanks for feedback :)
12:44 sewi_work afaik, a plugin could hook any existing document type but not define completly new ones not known to Padre before
12:45 sewi_work But it sounds worth changing it to allow plugins to register previously unknown document types
12:46 bowtie sewi_work, not a plugin

13:34 Hyppolit Padre::Plugin api 2.2
13:34 Hyppolit Also add missing plugin_name
13:34 Hyppolit trunk/Padre-Plugin-WxWidgets/lib/Padre/Plugin/
13:39 bowtie szabgab, phase two, done, So now we can load all of the plugin using plugin manager, they might not work as expected but Plugin Manager is now happy. I would imagine that some of the Makefile.PL will require more work when there authors update there plugins
13:49 bowtie szabgab, suggest the next phases are make plugin_disable work for each as in some it's missing. Not forgetting dialogs all being generated by P-P-FormBuilder, which leads on to should we have a common About Dialog, because if so the about dialog could be part of trunk
14:28 szabgab bowtie: the common about dialog might be a good idea if that can eliminate work for the plugin authors
14:29 szabgab other than that I'd think focusing on a few plugins and make them work better would be more important than acrross the board cleanup of plugisn, some of which might not be that useful
14:30 szabgab The two most important ones I can think of are PerlTidy and PerlCritic
14:30 szabgab bowtie: and as you are the expert in dialog creation now, you might want to create really nice GUIs for both of those
14:30 szabgab that would make them awesome
14:37 bowtie szabgab, I did the initial PerlTidy to us trunk/tools/perltidyrc, which I think was applied to trunk by azawawi, but Alias has taken the rains http://irclog.perlgeek.de/padre/2011-09-07#i_4384164 so I will decline that one, as for Perlcritic that seams to be ok
14:39 bowtie szabgab, my main observation is the web plugins, Plack, Catalyst, Dance, WebGui. as catalyst 5.9 use plack as default, should these not be combined in to one super plugin as previous suggested
14:41 szabgab that is abother thing to do but imho the PerlCritci is more down to earth, more importan
14:41 szabgab to a lot more people
14:43 szabgab maybe check out the perlcritic gui provide by activestate for inspiration
14:45 bowtie szabgab, you want an Padre version of active state gui
14:45 szabgab don't say that way
14:45 szabgab I want a better and cooler thing
14:46 bowtie is ip part of open komodo thingie ?
14:46 szabgab ip?
14:47 bowtie imho not one of my fav editors, rather have gvim with plugin
14:48 bowtie dose some one here us this, if so can they post a screen image to get me excited then
14:49 bowtie szabgab, as for common about dialog, I have a cunning plan
14:50 szabgab man you are difficult
14:51 bowtie can I mod one of your plugins in trunk to add an about2 to use common about dialog?
14:51 szabgab you could start with a window with a list of all the available critic rules
14:52 bowtie szabgab, I hate code with timed access, every time you want to use it you have to reinstall thats why
14:52 szabgab what are you talking about
14:52 szabgab ?
14:52 szabgab what timed access?
14:53 bowtie komodo 30 days limited access stuff
14:54 szabgab but why are you telling me this?
14:54 szabgab who cares about komodo here?
14:55 szabgab http://docs.activestate.com/activeperl/5.12/bin/perlcritic-gui.html
14:55 bowtie szabgab, I am trying to avoid having to install some code I don't like just to emulate a dialog
14:55 szabgab I just typed   "perl critic activeperl" in google
14:56 szabgab and clicked on images
14:56 szabgab but I really don't want to have a copy of this
14:57 szabgab that would not look good on our resume
14:57 bowtie szabgab, this slow here as I am rebuilding a local mirror
14:58 bowtie szabgab, ok I get what you are after, you want to over ride project or user perlcritcrc
14:59 bowtie hence need for a dialog
14:59 szabgab that's a good start :)
14:59 bowtie you want more :)
15:00 szabgab always
15:00 bowtie out with it then?
15:00 szabgab no idea yet :)
15:01 szabgab let's start with making it easier to see the perl critic configuration
15:01 szabgab and the results of a perl critic run
15:01 szabgab and then allow the user to fic the code by one click ...
15:01 szabgab s/fic/fix
15:02 szabgab I think as you build and as people start using it more ideas will come
15:03 bowtie te he, so I can't display there perlcriticrc then, sad :)
15:03 szabgab why?
15:04 szabgab why can't you display it?
15:04 bowtie we don't display any thing at the moment
15:04 szabgab right
15:05 szabgab but with this tool you'll be able to load and save perlricitcrc files, right?
15:05 bowtie we assume project rc or user rc other wise defaults to ...
15:05 szabgab you can think of this gui as a perlcriticrc editor
15:06 bowtie so now we want to manage rc files as well?
15:06 szabgab after you defined a configuration set in the gui you want to save it, right?
15:07 bowtie szabgab, dose Padre so rc files in project tools?
15:07 szabgab heh?
15:07 bowtie so show
15:08 szabgab if I understand you then there is no standard now
15:08 szabgab but for simplicity why not just allow the loading and saving of an rc file?
15:08 szabgab in the GUI I mean
15:10 bowtie but if a user saves an rc file to a project and dose refresh they want to see it's there, won't they
15:11 szabgab I am not sure I understand your point but I think loading and saving is a precondition to managing it in a project
15:12 bowtie szabgab, at present can I get a list of all files in a Padre project/session ?
15:13 szabgab I guess from within padre yes, I don't think there is an official API for that for plugins
15:14 bowtie did not think so,  there is not for all open either
15:20 szabgab the plugin drivers will and should drive the requests and then the Padre authors should add the API
15:20 szabgab even if they are the same person :)
15:21 bowtie szabgab, i need to think about this some more, due to requests for api and changes to padre project view, plus another DB relation to store Policies
15:23 szabgab no db changes, really
15:23 szabgab just handling rc files
15:24 szabgab or you meant the list of available policies?
15:24 bowtie where do you suggest the perl critic polices and descriptions will be held then
15:24 szabgab you can start by reading them from the docs
15:25 szabgab I think every policy has a file
15:25 szabgab Perl::Critic::Policy::(SomeGroup)::(PolicyName)
15:26 bowtie szabgab, we are using 77 in tools/perltidyrc and thats not all of them
