09:04 botbot Welcome user_9237
09:04 user_9237 Thanks. I'm looking for some help about how to add a modile in PerlIDE
09:05 user_9237 I've tried both with local and remote distribution but can't get it done
09:06 user_9237 Anyone ?
09:14 sugar what's the module?
09:18 user_9237 HTML::Table
09:19 user_9237 HTML-Table-2.08a.tar.gz
09:22 sugar and what u want to add?
09:24 user_9237 That module to my Padre IDE environment.
09:25 user_9237 I get a fatal error - Can't locate HTML/Table.pm in @INC
09:27 sugar what do u meand under "module to my Pad..."
09:27 sugar module is for Perl
09:27 sugar not for Padre
09:28 user_9237 Well I've tried to install it from Padres > Tools >Module menu
09:29 user_9237 therefore I said Padre
09:29 sugar ok
09:29 sugar what version of Padre?
09:29 user_9237 0.94
09:29 sugar can u upgrade it to 0.96?
09:30 user_9237 with Perl 5.14.2
09:30 user_9237 I could try. Is ist just to download and run ?
09:31 sugar but best way install module for Perl is install it from CPAN
09:31 sugar what OS u use?
09:31 user_9237 Win XP SP3
09:32 sugar and what perl?
09:32 sugar strawberry or activve?
09:32 sugar both has utilities to install modules
09:32 user_9237 One that comes with Padre. I think it's strawberry
09:32 sugar yeah
09:33 sugar i use linux, and forgot about win, but somewhere in main windows menu u can find utility for installing modules
09:34 user_9237 But how can I do it ? I'm usually using SUSE Linux and have added a lot's of modules there, but when I use utility for adding module it just doesn't work
09:34 user_9237 in Win XP
09:34 sugar Main->Perl->CPAN*
09:35 sugar i am too on opensuse and have no problem
09:35 sugar i usually install modules via cpanminus
09:35 sugar cpanm Module::Name
09:35 sugar just all
09:37 user_9237 in Win environment ?
09:37 sugar Main->Perl->CPAN*
09:37 sugar yes
09:37 user_9237 Ok, I'll give it a try
09:38 sugar y, strawberry shipped with command line utility for installing modules from CPAN
09:39 user_9237 do you need to start CLI from that directory you have downloaded module from  or perhaps it downloads a module for you ?
09:40 sugar it does all work for insrtalling (download, build, test and install)
09:45 user_9237 OK, seems to work. Thanks for help
09:46 sugar no problem
09:46 sugar u a welcome

12:42 lorn repo?
12:42 lorn botbot: padre repo
12:43 bowtie lorn, hi
12:43 bowtie what are you looking for
12:43 lorn bowtie: Hi
12:43 lorn bowtie: I just looking for the svn repo url
12:43 bowtie hold on
12:44 lorn bowtie: because of that - https://www.facebook.com/PerlIDE/posts/348655411875883?ref=notif&notif_t=share_reply
12:44 lorn bowtie: I'll create a mirror at github, and show that its more easy than take care of a svn repo and trac
12:45 bowtie this should help -> http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Development
12:45 lorn bowtie: Thanks, I tryied to find in the 'getting started' page
12:46 bowtie lorn, it's the integration with trac that is the issue, I think
12:47 lorn bowtie: Well, you can use github issues like https://github.com/kraih/mojo/issues
12:47 bowtie lorn, how are you going to stop convergence
12:48 lorn bowtie: I'll only answer this question "Moving now would be (or will be?) painful." with, its not painful I did here
12:48 lorn if svn and trac works fine, not a problem, I just want to answer with a pratical thing
12:48 lorn :D
12:49 bowtie what about current tickets http://padre.perlide.org/trac/report/1?sort=ticket&asc=0&page=1
12:49 bowtie and the history approx 1500 of them?
12:50 lorn bowtie: this is a good one, let me check
12:51 bowtie lorn, the current tickets have refs to svn revisions
12:52 lorn bowtie: yeah, I found some scripts for migrate trac issues to github issues, but the history ( with svn revisions) will be "broken", but the tickets will exists
12:53 lorn hmm
12:53 lorn I remember one thing
12:54 lorn bowtie: https://github.com/blog/626-announcing-svn-support
12:54 lorn bowtie: You can still use svn AND git, in the same repo :P
12:54 lorn need to be tested, of course
12:56 bowtie lorn, but you can not commit via svn, would you not consider this to be some kind of marketing fudge
12:58 lorn bowtie: No, because the tickets will be consistent I guess
13:01 bowtie lorn, do you know, or is that a wishful guess
13:03 lorn bowtie: a wishful guess :) if is true, do you think that make sense to migrate?
13:06 bowtie lorn, there are other issues, such as reporting to irc by primary bot, of ticket activity as well as wiki changes and commits.
13:06 bowtie where do you see the trac wiki in your roses coloured spectacles
13:07 lorn bowtie: This could be a post-receive-hook at github https://help.github.com/articles/post-receive-hooks/
13:07 lorn bowtie: github has a wiki for each repo too, and this wiki is a git repo that can be cloned and everything else :)

13:12 lorn bowtie: does this discussion github x svn, already happened here?
13:12 bowtie lorn, had you considered, picking one of the padre-plugins, http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Plugins that needs to be updated, adopting it, then you could git it and demonstrate how the integration will work, or make contact with a plugin in git and show how integration works
13:12 lorn bowtie: I like the ideia
13:13 bowtie this is a good place for this discussion
13:13 bowtie or you could post to padre-dev mail list
13:14 bowtie http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki#Mailinglists
13:14 lorn bowtie: did you recommend any plugin?
13:17 bowtie any thing you like below Others, take your pick, then we can inform author, and request co-maint bit

18:31 bowtie hi mj41_
18:31 mj41_ bowtie: hi
18:34 bowtie how's it going, ReDevel
18:35 mj41_ using it in my day job ... it's great
18:36 bowtie mj41_, that's great news
18:36 mj41_ but some Padre bugs are annoying :-)
18:37 bowtie do they have tickets, if so what are they
18:40 mj41_ e.g. http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/1405
18:41 bowtie mj41_, O that, I will take a look, but promise northing :)
18:42 bowtie what else
18:45 mj41_ can't find tickets ... but reload also create/save empty file if file was deleted
18:46 bowtie mj41_, are you going to add that to #1405
18:46 mj41_ and some times recursive search in files stops to work or crash padre
18:46 bowtie O that's a new one on me, ticket please
18:47 mj41_ will create new ticket for empty file ... and also new for ctrl+shift+f if i can reproduce it
18:48 bowtie cool
18:48 bowtie thanks mj41_
18:55 mj41_ also I missing "fast bookmark line number" feature ... something like ctrl+b add/remove line bookmark ... and ctrl+n skip to next bookmarked line ... I remember this from textpad.
18:56 mj41_ and sometimes probably syntax highlighting start to each my cpu ... saving session and restart padre fix it
18:57 bowtie bookmarks ok, short cut 'ctrl+b' missing or not working
18:59 mj41_ ctrl+b is too heavy ... and textpad has also big red dot on left side/next to line numbers to highlight bookmarked lines
19:01 mj41_ light line bookmarks are useful when editing on two places in one file e.g. sub code ... and code where you call this sub
19:01 bowtie have you tried playing with editor_dwell to shut up syntax check in prefs adv
19:03 mj41_ no, editor_dwell?
19:05 bowtie yes, tools -> prefs -> adv increase the value, it's only an idea, as I can not remember what it does :)
19:06 mj41_ ok, I just found it ... will try to increase :-)
19:07 bowtie yes, that's the thing, just increased it to 3000, as in 3 secs
19:08 mj41_ ok
19:09 bowtie it was the only way I could shut up syntax, we probably should have an ability to do this in padre-task
19:10 mj41_ also light bookmarks are great when you need to search/read code to find something and then continue to write code where you stop ... now, I am using change something ... move .. then ctrl+z to skip back
19:10 bowtie lol
19:11 bowtie O for split windows as in gvim :)
19:12 bowtie that's an Alias or azawawi core request I think
19:12 mj41_ :-)
19:13 mj41_ also I still can't live in peace with our clipboard ... because I need ctrl+c to get something then select something else and replace it with ctrc+v
19:14 bowtie I enabled glipper in gnome for that
19:17 mj41_ googling how to do this on Fedora
19:18 mj41_ and also I should google for using at/on/in in English :-)
19:21 bowtie mj41_, there are various clipboards, gnome kde, just poke about
19:22 mj41_ I have parcellite ... but it doesn't help much with this use case
19:25 bowtie ok
19:34 mj41_ http://padre.perlide.org/trac/ticket/1447 - Recreation of deleted file
