Welcome mib_th4h1n |

Hi, just downloaded the latest Padre DMG (OS X). Padre starts fine, after I clicked on the butterfly. A nice editor opens, the standard-Mac-keybindings like cmd-S for saving a file work fine. But when I Run the program (F5) nithing happens. |

Tried to type a backslash with Shift+alt+7 - that opens up a context-menu ... |
| 10:38 |
|
El_Che |
maybe you need to supply a terminal in preferences - languages - pErl 5? |
| 10:38 |
|
El_Che |
or at least enable "use external window for execution" |
| 10:48 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
thanks El_Che! That sounds reasonable - unfortunately the Preferences are greyed out ... |
| 10:49 |
|
El_Che |
really? that sounds like a bug |
| 10:50 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
well, I found them - funny but they are under "Werkzeuge"->"Einstellungen" which translates back to something like Tools->Preferences |
| 10:52 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
...but this is not what you were talking about: Nothing in it, where I can supply a terminal |
| 10:53 |
|
El_Che |
the "external" thing |
| 10:53 |
|
El_Che |
use external window for execution |
| 10:53 |
|
El_Che |
is it enabled? |
| 10:57 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
Padre IDE->Preferences is still grey, so I am in Tools->Preferences, here I see "Aussehen" (Design, Skin), Auto-complete, Indents, Keybindings, Language Perl 5, ... and Expert-Mode with a lot of variables. |
| 10:57 |
|
El_Che |
Language Perl 5 |
| 10:58 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
... ahhh, I see! |
| 10:58 |
|
El_Che |
I have to go now, but I'll be back |
| 10:58 |
|
mib_th4h1n |
thanks so log!! |

rindolf, hi |
| 22:16 |
|
rindolf |
Hi all. |
| 22:16 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: hi. |
| 22:17 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: what's up? |
| 22:18 |
|
bowtie |
rindolf, I am just asking if your patch for perl5db.pl made it into perl 5.17.7 |
| 22:18 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: let me see. |
| 22:18 |
|
rindolf |
I'll need some git-fu for that. |
| 22:19 |
|
bowtie |
I am in process of installing 5.17.7 now |
| 22:20 |
|
bowtie |
then I will run the updated test that worked against a patched 5.17.6 |
| 22:21 |
|
bowtie |
git-fu? |
| 22:22 |
|
bowtie |
rindolf, see p5p |
| 22:23 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: it does not appear to be. |
| 22:23 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: I mean it will require some git usage. |
| 22:24 |
|
rindolf |
bowtie: ah, #p5p . |
| 22:25 |
|
bowtie |
rindolf, sorry #p5p |

|
chorny |
hi |
| 22:54 |
|
shadowpaste |
"bowtie" at 217.168.150.38 pasted "kevin vinny:~/src/Padre/Debug-" (23 lines) at http://paste.scsys.co.uk/219572 |
| 22:54 |
|
bowtie |
chorny, which test dose it fail on, see nopaste |
| 22:58 |

bowtie: with prove it does not hang, only when run as "dmake test TEST_VERBOSE=1 TEST_FILES=t/06-initialize.t" |
| 23:08 |
|
bowtie |
chorny, ok, tell me about dmake please |
| 23:09 |
|
bowtie |
i assume dmake is win32 version of make |
| 23:10 |
|
chorny |
yes, that is used by Strawberry |
| 23:11 |
|
bowtie |
chorny, and if you run 'perl -Ilib t/06-initialize.t' |
| 23:13 |
|
chorny |
it will run correctly (except creating 2 processes that do niot exit) |
| 23:13 |
|
bowtie |
or you could try 'perl -MCarp::Always::Color -Ilib t/06-initialize.t' if there is an error |
| 23:13 |
|
chorny |
no errors |
| 23:13 |
|
bowtie |
how about with cpanm |
| 23:14 |
|
chorny |
notest with cpan.pm would also work :) |
| 23:15 |
|
bowtie |
so this a strawberry issue, with dmake then |
| 23:15 |
|
chorny |
but if problem would appear for newbie user, they may not know how to solve it |
| 23:16 |
|
chorny |
I think that dmake waits for all processes to finish |
| 23:16 |
|
bowtie |
ok, but I do not have a strawberry to test against |
| 23:17 |
|
bowtie |
chorny, what do we need to add to test to make 'dmake' happy |
| 23:18 |
|
chorny |
I'll ask in strawberry mailing list if dmake behaves as I think, I don't have enough knowledge about it |
| 23:19 |
|
bowtie |
chorny, on this subject you have more than me plus a test environment, thanks |
