14:16 bowtie El_Che, hi, and thanks
14:16 bowtie have you read the e-mail yet?
15:13 El_Che bowtie: yes, but didn't get it 100%
15:13 El_Che it works with you besides the svn problem?
15:13 El_Che the only difference I see is that you use a new version of perlbre
15:13 El_Che w
15:21 bowtie El_Che, also that I used cpan not cpanm
15:29 El_Che cpan is same prob
15:29 El_Che maybe a compile option change inperlbrew
15:31 bowtie El_Che, I only use -Dusethreads
15:49 El_Che 32 or 64 bits?
15:52 bowtie I am old so is all my kit to 32bit and slow 1.5GHz with only one core :)

16:25 bowtie so how is the celebrity chief

20:43 El_Che bowtie: my 5.16.2 was installed like this:
20:44 El_Che perlbrew install 5.16.2 -Dcf_by="myname" -Dcf_email=mym@ail -Dusethreads -Duselargefiles -use64bitall
20:44 El_Che so nothing fancy
20:44 El_Che just downloaded the lastest perlbrew
20:44 El_Che let's see
20:46 bowtie El_Che, that's very fancy, I just used 'perlbrew install perl-5.16.2 -Dusethreads'
20:47 El_Che bowtie: did you hear about stevan little's of a perl 5 fork?
20:48 bowtie no
20:48 bowtie using perlbrew - App::perlbrew/0.58
20:50 El_Che https://speakerdeck.com/stevan_little/perl-is-not-dead-it-is-a-dead-end
20:50 bowtie El_Che, being very old I remember all the issues when people tried to emulate 16bit code on 8bit machines, once bitten twice shy :)
20:50 bowtie ok, will go read now
20:50 El_Che are you the type that indents all their code with 12 spaces in front? :)
20:51 El_Che it's a nice attempt to fix what's broken, but I'd rather see the new MOP in Perl5 first
20:52 El_Che I attended this talk where he annouced the MOP: https://speakerdeck.com/stevan_little/perl-5-mop
20:56 bowtie I like 4 spaces per tab, but do use the mojo-perltidyrc against gvim, esp when I want to view multiple files
20:57 bowtie still reading
21:20 bowtie El_Che, interesting, slides, I must say that I do like poking around in perl6, every time it makes me smile, then said because I can't do that in perl 5 :)
21:22 El_Che I decided not to invest time on Perl 6 until I plan to use it. For now, when I am not using Perl 5 I don't miind refreshing a language or learning a little of a new one
21:27 bowtie why is it I have started to notice pascal like function parameters in others code recently
21:29 El_Che I have some far away memories of turbo pascal
21:33 stkowski joined #padre
21:40 bowtie It was cool, I remember using an approved hack of it to play with Eskimo and chalk boards :)
21:41 bowtie that was a long time ago, turbo pascal 2 I think ( but could have been 3 ) all code on a single floppy :)
21:53 El_Che crap
21:53 El_Che new perlbrew, new 5.16.2 build, cpan instead of cpanm
21:53 El_Che same problem
21:57 El_Che I'll fire some Vms tomorrow
22:03 bowtie El_Che, ok,
