17:21 bowtie jemclear, hi
17:22 jemclear er... are you a real person? I was just looking for a sort of user manual for padre!
17:23 bowtie ok, look at - http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Features
17:23 bowtie or you could just ask
17:24 jemclear OK - what I want is the quick, one-click or one-keystroke that reformats a block of code so that all the braces and indents and everything all lines up neatly: like it used to do when I used to use emacs for coding C and perl!
17:26 bowtie ok, two choices 1, use Padre-Plugin-PerlTidy or 2, look at Perl - Verticaly allign selected
17:26 bowtie wher Perl is a menu word
17:26 jemclear you're a star. Many thanks -- I'll go off in pusuit of the PerTidy plugin...
17:27 bowtie look here - http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Plugins
17:28 bowtie ps for an encore I do an impression of a robot :)
17:28 jemclear Yup -- I sede it there. OK.That's great. Thanks again.

17:42 jemclear help -- again!

17:54 bowtie ok
17:56 bowtie jemclear, ask away :)
18:05 jemclear oh! hi. OK - I got the PerlTidy plugin from CSPAN and it installed OK and I closed and re-launched Padre. The doc you sent me to says I have to "click Tools/Perl? Tidy/Tidy? the Active Document" which makes no sense to me.
18:06 jemclear The Tools menu does not contain any item(s) that look like "Perl? Tidy/Tidy?" How do I actually *do* it?
18:06 bowtie ok, you missed Tools - Plugin Manager enable plugin
18:07 jemclear Aha! OK - got it. I've enabled it and it works. Thanks again.
18:12 bowtie jemclear, take a look at this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu8-NzHZsXY
18:12 bowtie as far as I am aware it's the most recent talk by a Padre dev

18:36 user_9662 Hi
18:36 botbot Welcome user_9662
18:36 bowtie user_9662, hi
18:36 user_9662 I need to know how to update/install modules on DWIM Perl through Padre IDE?
18:36 dod joined #padre
18:37 bowtie ok, Padre version
18:38 user_9662 the Perl IDE 0.94.
18:38 user_9662 I am novice to Pearl and environment..
18:38 bowtie user_9662, take a look at - http://padre.perlide.org/screenshots.html you want top row 3rd from left
18:39 bowtie to enable go to Tools - prefs - features and turn on CPAN I think
18:40 user_9662 Ok..
18:40 user_9662 So when you install Padre..It actually comes with all these modules installed?
18:41 bowtie yes, but some features are not enabled as default, plus you can add more - http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Plugins
18:42 user_9662 right..i just checked it..and all the features are ON now..
18:42 user_9662 I see all the required plugins install..
18:43 user_9662 but maybe in future when new version of module comes and I need to install then how dows that work?
18:43 bowtie ok now go to and check by looking in View to see that they are enabled
18:43 bowtie with plugins you use Tools -plugin Manager
18:44 user_9662 and for modules?
18:46 bowtie you can install CPAN modules either with Padre feature of I think you have a win menu option for that
18:46 bowtie hold on
18:49 bowtie take a look at gabor  - http://www.youtube.com/user/gabor529
18:49 botbot Changeset #529 http://padre.perlide.org/trac/changeset/529
18:49 bowtie there is a dwim perl video there I think
19:04 Di-ima joined #padre

19:09 user_9662 i was still confused about Module upgrade feature....
19:09 bowtie you mead a CPAN module ?
19:09 user_9662 yup
19:11 user_9662 What i understood now is...When I install Padre CPAN modules are already installed....But I dont know when I want to upgrade/remove for some reason ..how can I do it?
19:16 El_Che joined #padre
19:17 bowtie user_9662, try this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKXtGgWi7qs&amp;list=UUGsgaBYSAcia5op2Umer-9g&index=15
19:18 bowtie use the cpan option from strawberry menu
19:18 user_9662 I will see the video then..
19:18 user_9662 I donno wat is straberry menu..
19:19 user_9662 Let me watch the video...Hopefully I will get the answers..
19:22 bowtie dwimperl is strawberry perl + padre + lots of cpan modules
19:43 Kharec joined #padre
19:58 user_9662 exactly...It has almost all the modules...But my question is if I want to update or maybe remove one of the modules then how shall I do that through Padre?
19:59 bowtie you can not remove through Padre, or upgrade only install
19:59 bowtie so in you want to upgrade use CPAN
20:00 user_9662 right..So if new version comes I need to install it again?
20:00 bowtie at the cpan prompt type ? for help
20:01 bowtie or upgrade Module::Name
20:01 bowtie yes, run the cpan cmd window
20:02 bowtie at cpan prompt, 'reload index' to update your local index then update the module you want
20:02 user_9662 ok...I am running Cpan Client which comes with Padre..
20:02 user_9662 Looks like it is working
20:02 user_9662 Got it..
20:02 user_9662 Thanks!
20:03 user_9662 I really appreciate this!
20:03 bowtie or you could type 'r' and see how many modules could be updated
20:03 user_9662 is there any way to just upgrade all the modules present in there?
20:04 bowtie yes, use the cpan item from your windows menu
20:04 bowtie run reload index
20:04 bowtie then upgrade
20:05 user_9662 u eman cpan explorer?
20:06 bowtie it's time for you to RTFM - https://metacpan.org/module/CPAN
20:07 user_9662 ok..thanks!
20:14 bowtie user_9662, if you are going to start loading lots of new cpan modules you might want to consider looking at first -> http://strawberryperl.com/
