13:46 user_1055 i'm new to padre - old to perl like padre a lot.  have a question re: debugger on windows 7.  when i Tools ->show breakpoints, the window opens, but breakpoints are not listed.
13:54 bowtie_ user_1055: hi, correct, just refresh or use Padre 0.99 in trunk where this is fixed see -> http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Development

15:54 rhd I have 2 perls installed, which appears to be causing me problems w Perl not being able to find files.  I installed 1 perl myself and apparently installing Padre installs another Perl (dwimperl).  When I run a script that uses a module, it says it cant find the module in the pathnames specified in @INC.
15:55 rhd It is looking in the dwimperl path but when I type "perl -V', it indicates the the pathnames in @INC are those of my other perl (c:\perl).
15:55 bowtie_ rhd: let's take a step back, Padre version, OS type and perl versions
15:56 rhd Win-Vista; Perl 5 rev. 5 version 16 subversion 3
15:57 bowtie_ rhd: I assume perl 5.16.3 is strawberry
15:57 bowtie_ and the other one
15:58 rhd Padre 0.94.  Interestingly, Padre says it's Perl 5.14.2.
15:58 rhd How can I tell if it's Strawberry?
15:59 bowtie_ rhd: try perl -v
16:00 rhd perl -v does not indicate Strawberry
16:01 rhd Both perl -V and perl -v seem to give the same results on both my perls
16:01 bowtie_ rhd: looks like you have dwimperl == Padre 0.94 + Strawberry perl 5.14.1 see -> http://dwimperl.com/windows.html
16:02 rhd Padre says it's Perl 5.14.2.
16:02 bowtie_ rhd: ok
16:02 rhd Is there a place I can edit what's in @INC?
16:02 bowtie_ rhd: perl 5.16.3 what is it, strawberry or active or home brew
16:03 rhd I dont know.

16:04 bowtie_ rhd: looks like a path order, take a look at this -> http://www.perlhowto.com/extending_the_library_path
16:04 rhd OK
16:19 rhd I read the info on the link you specified.  It appeared to have 3 solutions.  2 were cmd prompt commands, neither of which worked.  The other one was explicitly including the path to the module in my script, which didnt work either.
16:21 rhd The module I'm trying use is LDAP.pm (also LDAPS.pm and ReadKey).  I've copied these into all folders that it says @INC is looking in, but it still cant find the modules.
16:23 itcharlie rhd:  how about just
16:23 itcharlie use lib('Path of library');
16:24 rhd Yeah, I did that and it still couldnt find it.
16:25 itcharlie how about this? http://www.perlmonks.org/?node_id=680994
16:25 rhd OK, I'll look at it.
16:25 itcharlie 3rd to last comment

16:56 bowtie_ itcharlie: hi
16:58 bowtie_ itcharlie: nice link :)
16:59 itcharlie hi bowtie__ thanks

17:19 rhd OK, I did everything the comment said to do and still have same problem.
17:20 rhd Msg is: Can't locate Net/LDAP.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:/Perl/site/lib C:/Perl/vendor /lib C:/Perl/lib .) at ldap.pl line 3. BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at ldap.pl line 3.
17:20 bowtie_ rhd: ok why two versions of perl locally
17:22 rhd I installed one perl myself.  Then I installed Padre, not knowing that it would install another perl.  I dont know to uninstall the one I installed bec it doesnt come up in Windows' list of installed pgms.
17:24 rhd I could just delete all the perl folders that I installed but I'm not sure that would do all that is necessary.
17:26 bowtie_ rhd: DWIMPerl is for user who do not have a Perl install, and find cpan confusing, I suspect that is not you, hence uninstall DWIMPerl and install Padre from cpan or http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Development
17:27 bowtie_ rhd: if you want more than one perl look at perlbrew
17:31 rhd Well, I'm a newbie to all the Perl stuff, including Cpan, but I'll try installing Padre and reinstalling using the link you provided.  Thanx to bowtie and itcharlie for your help.  Hopefully, I wont need you again :)
17:38 rhd Well, Padre doesnt come up in the list of installed pgms either.  Should I just uninstall Strawberry perl (which appears as dwimperl)?
17:40 bowtie_ rhd: that sounds like active perl, is it
17:48 rhd I suppose so since that's where it was looking for the modules.

21:09 rhd OK, I uninstalled dwimperl and looked at the site bowtie provided to install Padre from Cpan.  Eventually, I got to a download for Padre, but this was a tar file.  As I have Windows, I looked for a way to untar this file, and found TarTools that's supposed to do this, but it didnt work.
21:11 bowtie_ rhd: why did you install active perl ?
21:13 rhd I then found another page that showed how to install Padre from a cmd prompt.  It had me install some packages first, which installed fine, but for the Padre install it said 'Can't find any package that provides Padre'.
21:14 bowtie_ rhd: suggest you take 5 and review Gabors videos about padre on win32 -> http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki#HowdoItryit
21:14 rhd I already had Active Perl from my original install.  This I think was from www.perl.com
21:17 itcharlie rhd:  yes please review link bowtie__ metioned above
21:17 itcharlie left #padre
22:15 rhd OK, I uninstalled the original Perl I installed and reinstalled active Perl from the site specified in bowtie's link.  For the Padre install it said 'Can't find any package that provides Padre'.
22:17 rhd At this point, I think I want to uninstall Perl again and install Padre from the web again, which will install Strawberry Perl.  Then, I'll have Padre and only 1 Perl which may solve my problem.
22:56 bowtie_ rhd: cool & night
