Time Nick Message
00:00 PeterM hello El_Che thanks for your help earlier. I've download and install fink. When I do a list cmd I see: term-readline-g  1.20-2       Perl extension for the GNU Readline but when I try
00:01 PeterM fink install term-readline-g  I get : Failed: no package found for specification 'term-readline-g'! what am I missing here?
00:06 PeterM I just noticed, this IRC is out of the UK, about 7 hrs off Calgary Alberta. Any night owls over there?
00:16 El_Che PeterM: the name looks truncated
00:17 El_Che stick this before the list command:
00:17 El_Che COLUMS=200
00:17 El_Che like this for ls
00:17 El_Che COLUMS=2°00 ls
00:17 El_Che I suspect the package name is term-readline-gnu
00:17 El_Che or something similar
00:17 El_Che going to bed now
00:18 El_Che :)
00:18 El_Che bye
00:18 PeterM Thanks again
00:19 bowtie_ El_Che: hi and yes it's Term::ReadLine::Gnu
00:22 El_Che bowtie_: hi. (He's talking about the fink library, the C gnu readline lib)
00:23 El_Che now really going to bed :)
00:24 bowtie_ El_Che: night

22:14 PeterM Still having fun trying to get term:readline:gnu to work under the Debug:Client.
22:14 PeterM I've downloaded fink and have the readline in /sw/lib/libreadline.6.2.dylib.
22:14 PeterM Now to get cpan to see it during make is the question. The links El_Che kindly provided
22:14 PeterM yesterday all presume use of Homebrew, which is something I really don't want to install.
22:15 PeterM Is there another way, change a path or copy the file to some location long
22:15 PeterM enough for cpan to be happy? BTW I running Max OSX 10.9 the original error from make was
22:15 PeterM "The libreadline you are using is the libedit library.  Use the GNU Readline Library."
22:15 PeterM Any suggestions folks?
22:23 bowtie_ PeterM: have you looked at -> http://blogs.perl.org/users/aristotle/2013/07/easy-osx-termreadlinegnu.html
22:24 PeterM yes that presumes Homebrew, fink put in the path I  mentioned
22:29 bowtie_ PeterM: I do not have osx, but is it not just the case of installing the correct dev lib to enable installation
22:31 user_4435 joined #padre
22:32 PeterM I hope so too. But if I look in /usr/local/lib but there is no readline library to swap out long enough for cpan to run.

22:37 PeterM bowtie: there is a link in /usr/lib/libreadline.dylib perhaps this is the one I should change, what say you?
22:37 bowtie_ PeterM: sorry I have no more info, suggest you send an e-mail to the Padre-dev list as other Padre OSX users have install term-readline-gnu
22:38 PeterM OK thanks I'll give that a try, Thanks for you help
22:39 bowtie_ PeterM: I also checked with them before making it a dependency so that we would only have one
22:40 PeterM I understand, this multi platform thing can be a real bitch
