09:27 botbot Welcome user_4570
09:30 user_4570 Hi, using Padre 1.00 => When I click "Menu>[Tools]>[Plug-in Tools]>[Plug-in List (CPAN)]" I am taken to "http://cpan.uwinnipeg.ca/search?query=Padre%3A%3APlugin%3A%3A&mode=dist", which fails with 404 "Object not found!"...is this URL even correct?
09:31 user_4570 I am trying to get/load more pkgs from CPAN through Padre but seems broken
09:50 user_4570 I went to the  bug track site to search for or create a bug for this, and it rightly requires registration...and there is no registration link or page to speak of...so I can't even register to raise this bug :( "http://padre.perlide.org/trac/wiki/Tickets"
09:51 El_Che user_4570: yes
09:51 El_Che user_4570: that sucks
09:52 El_Che we should move to github or something similar
09:52 user_4570 I thought it may be bad page rendering by my browser, but same in Chrome - no links to any registration pages...so can't login to create bug...
09:52 bowtie El_Che: yes to git hub :)
09:53 user_4570 do yo uknow how to register on that site?
09:53 El_Che yes, normally someone has the key to that page here
09:53 El_Che bowtie and other
09:53 El_Che they open the page, you log in, they close
09:53 El_Che due to spam problems
09:53 El_Che but it's not really working
09:54 bowtie El_Che: my account is no longer working :(
09:54 El_Che is moving to github dropping the old bugs and option?
09:55 bowtie El_Che: thats the 64x10^6 Q :)
09:55 user_4570 oh well...do you know of this CPAN URL prob? From Padre, if you follow the same Menu steps, are you also sent to the same "cpan.uwinnipeg.ca..." URL that 'knows nothing about what you're asking for'?
09:56 user_4570 all I really am trying to do is hook Padre up to cpan a=so I can pull down other plugins included in my perl scripty-poos
09:57 user_4570 *...cpan, so I can...*
09:57 bowtie user_4570: have you enabled feature - CPAN explorer
09:58 user_4570 e.g. use Image::Size;
09:58 bowtie that works, just tried it
09:59 user_4570 yes, checked in Features in Prefs. CPAN Explorer open...
09:59 bowtie user_4570: see the 3rd image - http://padre.perlide.org/screenshots.html
09:59 user_4570 ah...ok, I'm getting lists back in this...
10:00 bowtie user_4570: it will take module name or PAUSE-ID
10:01 bowtie it use the now old MetaCPAN::API and needs to be updated to MetaCPAN::Client :)
10:02 user_4570 ok. I have that open now...hmm I have try running script with 'use Mod::SubMod" and see if I get the same result...
10:02 bowtie iirc it expects to find cpanm locally to do the heavy lifting
10:05 bowtie user_4570: see - https://metacpan.org/search?q=Mod%3A%3ASubMod
10:06 bowtie user_4570: what is the real CPAN Module name
10:07 El_Che bowtie: I think an empty bug db is better than one that not accessible
10:09 bowtie El_Che: they have been talking about the merits of RT over github issues, as you do not need to have a github account to be able to register an bug, in various #channels recently
10:10 El_Che bowtie: does rt privide a repo?
10:11 bowtie El_Che: no, the suggestion is to use GitHub but disable it's issues
10:11 bowtie it's a bit of a chicken and an egg, if you ask me
10:12 El_Che that does not make sense
10:13 El_Che you can use github and copy bugs from RT to github?
10:13 bowtie as in most web based activates you have to register before you can submit a bug, so that you know the author is genuine and not spam
10:14 bowtie El_Che: now you are going down the road of two ledgers - prone to failure and becoming out of sync :)
10:15 bowtie El_Che: I think that github issues with padre-dev@perlide.org would cover most basses, what do you think?
10:19 El_Che I don't understand the question
10:33 user_4570 sorry..."use Tk::LabFrame;". I'm trying this on a local PC and also a DC PC, and the DC PC has issues, so I suspect it's FW blocking. I clicked "Install" on both in the CPAN Explorer, and it seems to be working on my local PC.
10:35 user_4570 So...I guess now it's a case of me perhaps not really understanding what "Padre[Menu]>Tools>Plug-in Tools>Plug-in List (CPAN)" is for? And maybe I expected the same result as what CPAN Explorer gives me? RESOLVED :) Thank you !
10:40 user_4570 help
10:40 user_4570 oops!
10:40 bowtie user_4570: it's good to talk :)
10:41 bowtie user_4570: how about a nickname
10:44 user_4570 yes, thanks very much :) I am new to IRC stuff so I dunno most commands (including setting nn). But it's almost 9pm here now and I gotta go (but I'm skeeta)...so, is there a command here to close and exit this nicely? (I hope to be on here a little more in future as I have just started learning perl)
10:46 bowtie user_4570:  aka skeeta, no command, normally users just go, but you can say by if you want, normally only at end of a chat :)
10:47 bowtie El_Che: what i was trying to say was that I think that github issues along with padre-dev list would work
10:49 user_4570 ok, thx. cya :)
