13:20 * gtodd wonders if PDL can "save state" like R
13:22 gtodd it seems with R if I save an image of my workspace on restore it loads libraries. variables, data,  functions one may have written, cmdline history ... etc.
13:24 gtodd I vaguely remember reading about a perl debugger on steroids that did similar things but ...

14:26 chm gtodd: PDL is a module so not sure what you mean there.  The pdl2 and perldl shells do have command line history.
14:27 chm Also, you can use PDL::IO::FlexRaw and writeflex to dump a list of piddles to a single file.  A script could be used to restore them.
14:28 chm I would suggest opening a feature request (with a clear description if possible) at our sf.net tracker.
14:28 chm In general, the #pdl irc channel is pretty much a bit bucket as far as follow up since many of
14:29 chm the current PDL developers do not IRC and there is no way that the discussions from here ever make
14:29 chm it to the perldl or pdl-porters mailing lists.
14:30 chm I would like to see pdl2 and perldl merged for the PDL3 release this summer.  At that point, it would
14:30 chm make sense to implement a more immersive user environment.

14:32 gtodd chm: thanks
14:32 gtodd will do
14:33 gtodd that is what I meant to ask .... I guess when I say PDL  I guess I mean pdl2 pdl perldl and all the modules ;-)
14:34 gtodd you just outlined a development path so I'll copy that in the feature request :-)
14:35 * gtodd nods re: IRC in general ...
14:35 gtodd but I like it better than twitter :-P
14:36 pdurbin me too
14:38 gtodd not to say #PDL on twitter would be useless ... (anyone else notice how twitter's hash tags errm "resemble" the non-patented IRC method of creating a channel?)
14:38 pdurbin heh
14:38 pdurbin well, the twitter team didn't invent the hashtag. users started it
14:39 gtodd right so I guess freenode isn't just waiting til twitter.com gets a big enough market capitalization to launch nuisance suit and kaching-retire
14:40 gtodd splitting the proceeds between the node operators ... hmm
14:48 pdurbin freenode is the new twitter
14:48 gtodd heh
14:53 gtodd evalbot:  say "true" if $IQ{"Twitter user"} < $IQ{"IRC user"}
14:54 gtodd ok that is unfair :-|
14:54 * gtodd regrets that
14:54 gtodd apologies to all
14:54 gtodd have a good weekend
14:57 * gtodd also apologizes  for me atrocious IRC spelling ... twitter users do a better job
14:58 gtodd left #pdl
15:38 * run4flat wonders if liddle_piddle_bot can be taught to send mail to the porters list
15:39 run4flat Something like liddle_piddle_bot notify-porters <subject-line>
15:39 run4flat and it would send off an email to the porters list with said subject, and a link to the discussion archive
20:23 sivoais hashtags were actually directly inspired by IRC
20:42 pdurbin invented by chris messina or something
