21:13 vicash sivoais: is there a way to get Alien::* to not build a library from the repo if it has already been installed ?
21:13 vicash i have an Alien::TAlib that builds from repo but I do not want it to rebuild every time if it has already been installed once or if the library was installed using other ways like apt-get or similar
21:37 sivoais vicash: you may want to look at how Alien::Libarchive does it <https://github.com/plicease/alien-libarchive#description>
21:38 sivoais there's an issue discussing the problem here <https://github.com/Perl5-Alien/Alien-Base/pull/30>
21:40 sivoais The main blocker, from what I see, is the ever-present library version problem.
21:43 sivoais a good proposal for solving that consistently would be awesome
22:23 vicash sivoais: libarchive does it well but it looks pretty complex using Capture::Tiny et al.. interesting though and i will remember in case i need it in the future
22:31 vicash sivoais: after introspection i can use "alien_version_check" or libarchive's version of the function to solve my problem. this is good. thanks
