12:41 willthechill that's fine as long as you don't change anything on the master branch!
12:41 willthechill going to sleep now...

20:09 ToApolytoXaos willthechill: is it okay if a friend of mine set up an archlinux package for rperl?
20:16 basiliscos joined #perl11
20:28 willthechill ToApolytoXaos: sure that's fine!  :)
20:28 willthechill I don't know anything about archlinux though
20:28 ToApolytoXaos brilliant; I'm trying to convince him
20:29 ToApolytoXaos many folks constantly ask me about benchmarks
20:29 willthechill now you can show them your own benchmarks!  170x on your first try
20:29 ToApolytoXaos yeah, I told him to follow the steps to test it himself
20:30 ToApolytoXaos do you think in the near future RPerl to be (get) added on http://benchmarksgame.alioth.debian.org/?
20:32 ToApolytoXaos also, a naive observation
20:33 ToApolytoXaos if you go to $HOME/perl5/lib/perl5/ you can see Inline folder followed by _Inline; do you think this combination would or could confuse users? Just a thought, nothing more...
20:34 willthechill yes I will add RPerl to alioth soon, this has been discussed many times before
20:34 willthechill the _Inline/ folders are always automatically created by Inline, yes it is a bit confusing but we just have to accept it for now
20:36 ToApolytoXaos OK
20:36 ToApolytoXaos thanks for the feedback :)
20:42 willthechill you are welcome!  :)
20:42 willthechill I would like to see some more benchmarks from you, can you please run the tests again with 10,000 elements instead of only 5,000?
20:42 willthechill then show me the timings for both slow and fast?
20:47 ToApolytoXaos sure thing
20:47 ToApolytoXaos give me a second to try it
20:50 willthechill great!
20:51 ToApolytoXaos the "slow" test returns "elapsed: 21.7556068897247"
20:51 ToApolytoXaos not bad for 10,000 elements
20:52 ToApolytoXaos hahaha :D the fast part...well, it's fast!
20:52 ToApolytoXaos elapsed: 0.128953218460083
20:56 willthechill great, 169x
20:57 willthechill same speed as we got on your machine before
20:58 ToApolytoXaos actually with 5,000 is sequence #2: elapsed: 5.43418502807617
20:58 ToApolytoXaos that's the "slow" part
20:58 ToApolytoXaos the fast part is elapsed: 0.0318710803985596
20:59 ToApolytoXaos so it's not exactly the same ^_^
21:00 willthechill yes that is 170x
21:00 willthechill it is "exactly" the same
21:01 willthechill 169x ~= 170x
21:08 ToApolytoXaos hahahaah :D
21:08 ToApolytoXaos OK OK...your approximate operator convinced me ^_^
21:10 willthechill good I love the approximately-equals operator
21:10 ToApolytoXaos me too
21:11 willthechill okay about to give an RPerl demo now, I'll still be online but less responsive for a while
21:11 ToApolytoXaos no worries; good luck!
21:13 willthechill thanks!  :)
21:46 ToApolytoXaos for some reason on archlinux step #1A fails. I'm about to setup archlinux myself and test why it fails.
