06:51 rurban I'm going now to the opensuse conference in Nuremberg, to get accustomed to their open build system. To be able to build, test and host binary packages for most linux platforms there. Maintaining more than just 1 deb+rpm.
06:52 ribasushi sounds interesting, their openqa thing is quite good too ;)
07:00 rurban yes, I like all of them. Even if they didn't continue the perl-based build system and redid it in ruby on rails
07:00 rurban https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/devel:languages:perl/perl
07:01 rurban they support much more architectures, archlinux and most debian derivates also.
07:05 rurban https://engineering.semantics3.com/2016/06/15/a-perl-toolchain-for-building-micro-services-at-scale/
07:05 rurban defending perl
07:14 ribasushi rurban: interesting stuff, thanks for sharing that article
07:16 rurban I didn't like it that much (talking about post-modern perl as modern), but it's on the HN front-page, and promotes carbon, pinto, mojo, perlbrew. It leaves out Dancer, but mojo is much better with websockets.
07:18 ribasushi dancer is a bit... strange
07:18 ribasushi rurban: https://github.com/PerlDancer/Dancer2/issues/1125
07:19 rurban Yes, Scope::Upper is fragile voodoo. I added a safestack entry in cperl, and it Scope::Upper broke lexical $_
07:20 rurban https://rt.perl.org/Public/Bug/Display.html?id=127875
07:20 ribasushi yes and the entire framework is ties into this voodoo
07:20 ribasushi hence "a bit... strange"
07:20 ribasushi *tied
07:21 rurban TryCatch is similar. But the best module to do that. So it's needed.
07:25 rurban A typical Dancer issue. Lot of talking and then silently sukria fixes everything
07:27 rurban But in this case using Scope::Upper was a bad idea, because it's a hack.
07:27 ribasushi rurban: you are preaching to the person who opened the ticket ;)
07:28 rurban yes, just summarizing from my POV
07:28 rurban I have to fix Scope::Upper issues also. a blocker. https://github.com/perl11/cperl/issues/159
07:29 ribasushi rurban: unrelated: latest Moo inadvertently introduced a failing test on cperl
07:29 rurban not maintainable. So sawyer is again wrong on insisting on Return::MultiLevel. It breaks program flow. Like Try::Tiny
07:29 ribasushi rurban: https://github.com/moose/Moo/commit/05318b4 <--- this is the upstream fix, do you want me to distropref it or you take care of it?
07:29 rurban If you got time. I'm pretty busy now
07:29 * ribasushi works on it...
07:30 rurban thanks!

07:41 ribasushi rurban: https://github.com/rurban/distroprefs/pull/6, sadly I can't easily test it myself without a merge, sorry for the silly chicken-and-egg setup
