00:11 willthechill punter: howdy, welcome to the Perl 11 channel!  :-)
00:11 punter hi
00:11 punter Is Perl 11 a piece of software, or is it just a room to discuss 5 & 6?
00:12 willthechill Perl 11 is currently a philosophy, and will eventually be a real version of Perl once Perl 5 and Perl 6 are 100% fully merged, at some perhaps-distant time in the future
00:12 willthechill RPerl and cperl and other pieces of software are our current implementations of the Perl 11 philosophy

01:32 punter Is Sebastian Ridel (maker of Mojolicious) aware of this project?
01:33 punter Since you're considering adding nonblocking IO, I think he's an expert on this stuff, and am sure he'd have stuff to say about it.
03:41 willthechill punter: I don't know anybody in the Mojolicious camp.  Personally I use Catalyst, which is maintained by jnap and is the person who originally brought up non-blocking I/O.  If Sebastian Ridel or anyone else is interested in actually using RPerl, then they should come join the fun!  :-)
03:41 willthechill *jnap who is

10:55 lizmat fwiw, I think it's Riedel instead of Ridel: https://metacpan.org/author/SRI
11:20 travis-ci perl11/cperl#1260 (smoke/relprep5.24.0 - b022131 : Reini Urban): The build has errored. https://travis-ci.org/perl11/cperl/builds/142720668

23:02 willthechill mako: oh I see who you are via FB
23:02 willthechill :)
23:03 willthechill bulk88: are you around?  mako has done some good stuff in Windows and I wanted him to tell you about it so we can decide how to move forward
23:03 bulk88 im around
23:04 willthechill okay I don't know if mako is here right now or not
23:04 willthechill mako said: Upgraded to RPerl 2.0 on Windows 10, Strawberry Perl v5.24.0
23:04 willthechill Compiling of a simple 'hello world' worked, but I had the following issues:
23:04 willthechill - I had to modify in 'rperltypes.pm' the sub 'type_integer_errorcheck'
23:04 willthechill - Had to set environment var 'LIBRARY_PATH' to 'C:\Strawberry\perl\lib\CORE'
23:04 willthechill - Had to copy 'C:\Strawberry\perl\bin\perl542.dll' to 'C:\Strawberry\perl\lib\CORE\libperl.dll'
23:06 bulk88 Had to copy 'C:\Strawberry\perl\bin\perl542.dll' to 'C:\Strawberry\perl\lib\CORE\libperl.dll'"
23:06 bulk88 no, fix the bug, libperl.dll has never existed on win32 ever
23:07 willthechill I think that bug comes from '-lperl' argument to g++
23:07 willthechill "bug"
23:07 willthechill "Windows bug" :)
23:07 bulk88 you are supposed to link against libperl5**.a not have Mingw GCC fall back to ".a"less lionking straight against a DLL
23:08 bulk88 EUMM should be providing all of this info
23:08 bulk88 "LIBRARY_PATH" a -L is messed up
23:08 willthechill this is the line:  https://github.com/wbraswell/rperl/blob/master/lib/RPerl/Compiler.pm#L1290
23:09 willthechill I am about to leave the computer for a few hours
23:09 willthechill just wanted to get these issues out there so we can start thinking about it
23:09 willthechill if mako comes online before I get home then feel free to talk w/out me, I will still be logged in
23:10 bulk88 use $Config{libperl} not "-lperl"
23:10 bulk88 $Config{libperl} is a .a file
23:10 willthechill sounds like that is a good part of the solution, will talk more when I get back, bye!  :)
23:17 mako Oh shit, guys what's deal?
23:22 mako Keep in mind there could be an option about the suffix making a difference between '.a' or '.so' or '.dll'
23:23 mako A linker issue that is.
23:26 punter Is rperl's plan to develop rperl independently to something incompatible of perl5?
23:27 punter i mean, i wonder how many features rperl is willing to add to its language
23:29 mako Remember, even though I modified 'rperltypes.pm' to make RPerl run on Windows, this is not really a solution.
23:35 mako Using 'rperltypes.pm' version '0.006_000' I added after line '572' the following: '$ivtypesize_key =~ s/\s+//xmsg; # 93r
23:36 mako $ivtypesize_key =~ s/\s+//xmsg; # 93r
23:36 mako That's it
23:39 mako But this can't be the real solution because it only solved an issue with 'rperltypes::type_integer_error_check' sub routine
23:43 bulk88 willthechill recently tried to get 32 bit IVs working, there are bugs in that code
23:53 mako It's about '$Config{ivtype}' it should be 'longlong' (expected) but is (at least on my config) 'long long' (yeah the space's the difference)
23:54 bulk88 longlogn isnt a C type
23:54 mako but 'long long' is. 64bit type
