06:44 willthechill rurban1: that video is super long, can you please tell me what are the important take-away points?
06:47 rurban1 how awfully bad ruby is. code in the stdlib, and code written by users. and how to optimize it nevertheless (but it's very hard. much harder than with perl)
06:48 rurban1 the important points are in the first 5 minutes
06:49 rurban1 for methods, jruby/truffle does compile the typed versions, and replaces the first generic method with the specialized. as I do in entersub => enterxsub. but not in add/sub/mul
06:49 willthechill the just need rruby
06:49 willthechill haha
06:50 rurban1 no, they are super-dynamic. no chance for types
06:51 rurban1 are any staticism
06:51 willthechill ouch that hurts
06:51 willthechill too bad for them
06:51 willthechill glad I'm a perl user, haha!
06:51 rurban1 they do have crystal though, which is a typed ruby
06:51 rurban1 the real problem is their mop. they totally abuse it.
06:52 willthechill oh wow that's not good
06:52 willthechill but crystal sounds nice
06:52 willthechill I have deleted all mop in low-magic rperl
06:52 willthechill only normal OO
06:53 willthechill of course you can still use moose or other mopish stuff in high-magic Perl 5, and don't compile those parts

07:52 rurban1 @bulk88: the timeout happens because of recompilation. Makefile out-of-date with respect to ..\..\lib\Config_heavy.pl
07:52 rurban1 double work

15:22 rurban @ribasushi: fixed the upstream bug calling methods on protected stashes. #171
15:52 bulk88 rurban1 the timeout actually happens in issue219.t, with the linker takes dozens of minutes, how can I pass -Od (ccflags thing) to the CC from the command line of cc_harness? cc_harness script seems to have no docs
15:52 bulk88 rurban ^
15:53 bulk88 there is another bug in cc_harness that -I../../lib/CORE goes last, and -IC:/perl/lib/CORE is first, so issue219.t fails for me since it picks up perl 5.10's headers not cperl master

20:08 rurban1 yes, issue219.t seems to be the real culprit. maybe we should add the timeout to it
