06:53 vytas willthechill, apologies for not responding - I am in UK time..
06:53 vytas I met you in FOSDEM, found your ideas interesting so since then I am lurking around
06:57 willthechill vytas: wow awesome!  many of the people at FOSDEM were strangers to me.  :-)
06:57 willthechill I am very glad to find you here!
07:06 willthechill vytas: I just sent you an RPerl invitation, let me know if you do not see it in your gmail
07:10 vytas haven't got anything yet, it's not spammed though, so might be at border check :)
07:12 willthechill you may need to directly check on trello.com if you have already turned off e-mail notifications in the past
10:19 vytas just got it..
10:20 willthechill sweet
10:23 willthechill I am curious, did it send you an e-mail notification?

21:03 willthechill how is everyone today?  :-)
21:22 karjala Hi I'm fine
21:23 willthechill karjala: excellent!  it's a beautiful sunny day here in Austin, Texas, USA.  how about you?
21:24 willthechill I mean, how about your weather?  ;-)
21:24 karjala It was sunny today here, but its getting cold as well
21:25 willthechill yeah we've had a few chilly nights over the past week.  right now we are in the "perfect weather" zone for another few weeks I hope.
21:25 karjala Because winter
21:25 willthechill haha yeah we haven't hit winter quite yet here in TX
21:25 karjala Does it get too hot in the summer?
21:25 willthechill oh yes, extremely hot sometimes
21:25 willthechill over 100 farenheight
21:27 willthechill *fahrenheit  :-P
21:27 willthechill most stay indoors with air conditioning, I still like to go outdoors so I wear special clothing and open shoes meant for high heat
21:28 karjala I think i might get a mac if i see something i like on the 27th
21:28 karjala O
21:28 willthechill a macintosh computer?
21:28 karjala Yes a macbook pro
21:28 willthechill ah cool, what operating system?
21:28 karjala Theres a keynote speech then
21:28 karjala Os x
21:28 karjala Macos
21:29 willthechill cool
21:29 willthechill keynote at what conf?
21:29 karjala Its an apple event called keynote event or something like that
21:30 karjala Just presenting new models, its not part of something bigger
21:30 karjala Apple fanboys watch these over the net
21:31 willthechill ah okay an online keynote
21:31 willthechill gotcha!
21:31 willthechill I own a mac
21:31 willthechill ...
21:31 willthechill IT'S A MACINTOSH 512K
21:31 karjala Lol
21:31 willthechill haha yeah
21:31 willthechill seriously though I do own one, it's the only mac I've ever had
21:32 willthechill ;-)
21:32 karjala What os do you run?
21:32 willthechill nowadays I just buy the old Latitudes and run Xubuntu
21:33 karjala Do you miss regular ubuntu?
21:33 willthechill my company policy is to support any apt-based OS, but I only approve of Xubuntu for new installs
21:33 willthechill no I don't like regular Ubuntu so much because it is bloatware
21:33 willthechill and I like to run older slower machines
21:33 willthechill so Xubuntu is awesome
21:33 willthechill plus xfce is a really nice window manager
21:34 willthechill in my opinion
21:35 karjala The dell laptop i use is from summer of 2012
21:35 willthechill I started on Red Hat 5.2, then moved to Mandrake just for fun, then moved to Debian when I discovered how much better apt is when compared to rpmfind, then moved to Ubuntu when wifi became popular, then moved to Xubuntu when Ubuntu went to a crappy window manager
21:36 karjala Do you run 16.04?
21:36 willthechill hmmm how can I tell when my latitude was built?
21:36 karjala I dont know...
21:36 willthechill I think I've had it since about 2012 as well, but I bought it used at Discount Electronics
21:37 willthechill yes I run 16.04, I don't like to upgrade to LTS until it has at least 2 minor revisions but in this case I was forced to do so because of the new Ubuntu SDK
21:37 willthechill I haven't got deep into the Ubuntu SDK just yet, but it is very promising, it runs Qt and there is already some Python support so eventually I will get Perl support in there
21:38 willthechill so I was running 14.04.3 IIRC until just about 2 months ago
21:38 willthechill Xubuntu 16.04 runs great on my Latitude D630
21:38 willthechill what OS do you have on your Latitude?
21:39 karjala Ubuntu 14.04
21:39 karjala It crashed too much with 16.04 so i reinstalled 14
21:39 karjala I should try xubuntu
21:40 willthechill heck yeah you should try Xubuntu
21:40 karjala You dont have any problems with it?
21:40 willthechill I've fixed 1 or 2 minor issues w/ 16.04 and also submitted 1 official Ubuntu bug report, gvim dependencies are messed up in apt
21:41 willthechill so right now I have no gvim unless I force install and then suffer a messed up apt system
21:41 willthechill and I have a weird graphical glitch w/ the indicator-multiload tray applet
21:41 willthechill haven't figured out that one just yet
21:42 willthechill and actually 1 other issue, sometimes when I suspend and then wake back up, the GUI screen is all black on CTRL-ALT-f7
21:42 willthechill I can still see and use command line on CTRL-ALT-f1 through f6, so I can reboot
21:43 willthechill but I can't get the GUI back up
21:43 willthechill that's happened maybe 2 or 3 times out of over 100 suspends
21:43 willthechill so I can't recreate it
21:43 karjala Ok
21:45 willthechill but I am running 16.04 for work every day and it is going good so far
21:45 willthechill thank goodness!  :-)
21:46 karjala On 14.04 i often get logged off when i suspend
21:46 willthechill wow logged off during suspend
21:46 willthechill never had that one happen before!
21:46 willthechill weird
21:46 karjala When i close the lid i mean
21:47 willthechill yeah I think my lid-closing switch is messed up, because sometimes it won't trigger a suspend when I close the lid, so now I just always manually click the "suspend" button
21:47 willthechill but I think that is likely a hardware issue
21:57 willthechill karjala: so I'm working on WebPerl backend stuff today!  did you imply that web backend is one of your interests?
21:57 karjala Yes i use mojolicious a lot
21:58 karjala Its like dancer
21:58 karjala What are you doing?
22:00 willthechill I use catalyst
22:01 willthechill today I am working on our new "LAMP Installer Script"
22:01 willthechill basically it is a 2000 line bash script with a menu system and 40+ sections which take you from a totally fresh Ubuntu (or Xubuntu) install all the way through a working advanced server
22:01 willthechill "advanced" here means "working CMS"
22:02 willthechill then after the LAMP Installer is done I will use the same format to create the RPerl Installer
22:02 willthechill (because installing RPerl usually requires a bit more than just `cpan RPerl`)
22:03 karjala Nice
22:03 willthechill here's what I've got so far...  the only thing left is the ShinyCMS install sections, which will take me the rest of today to finish
22:03 willthechill https://github.com/wbraswell/lampuniversity.org/blob/master/bin/LAMP_installer.sh
22:03 karjala I'm off to bed now. Goodnight
22:03 willthechill karjala: okay goodnight my friend!  :-)
