16:35 moritz we should now have logs
16:35 smls yay, thanks

16:36 Topic for #perl6-site is now http://perl6.org/ (re)design. Logs at http://irclog.perlgeek.de/perl6-site/today
17:30 smls http://i.imgur.com/u06mCCc.png -- new mockup revision
17:33 smls Keep in mind that there's supposed to be more content in the beige area that's cut off at the bottom in that mockup.

17:39 smls regarding the code example, I'd rather feature a single really well-thought out example in that spot, to be honest
17:39 Ven what do you think of racket's http://racket-lang.org/ ?
17:40 PerlJam joined #perl6-site
17:40 smls other language pages rotate between multiple ones, but to me that often seems like an excuse to not come up with a really well-thought-out one
17:40 Ven I think "only one sample" would be fine if this was a DSL
17:41 Ven but not really for a so-called general-purpose language
17:41 smls Note that in the expandable feature list right below it, each will have its own example
17:41 smls the top example is supposed to give a first impression, not document the language :P
17:42 Ven smls: is one-liner capabilities the only thing we want to highlight? :)
17:42 Ven or the thing w want to highlight the most
17:43 Ven I agree it's much less an issue if the bottom part is expandable
17:43 Ven I really like this idea!
17:44 smls Ven: Here's an (older) mockup of how the feature list will work: http://i.imgur.com/QFtj4TQ.png
17:44 smls plenty of opportunity for all kinds of examples, there...
17:45 Ven smls: great work
17:46 smls Ven: The racket website is not bad content and structure wise, but is missing a "design"/branding
17:46 Ven I can see your point
17:46 Ven it's mostly academic though, so it makes sense.
17:46 Ven not the same audience

17:46 Ven I guess it's also why haskell.org got that redesign. moved from an academic-looking website to a more "pro" one
17:47 smls having a code snippet with next/previous buttons like they do isn't bad either, but in our case the expandable feature list will fill that role.
17:47 Ven indeed
17:49 smls re design, it doesn't need to be elaborate, but it should exist IMO. For example the ruby page has a pretty minimalist design that nonetheless works: https://www.ruby-lang.org
17:51 * Ven agrees
17:51 Ven I'm really looking forward to a redesign, anyway.
17:51 Ven I heard so many times "wow, loook, some guys bought perl6.org and made it a parody website"
17:52 Ven "this logo has to be a joke"
17:52 smls Well, Camelia won't change
17:53 smls But we can embed her into a nice page design that complements her... :P
17:53 smls (which I hope I'm doing in that mockup)
17:56 PerlJam maybe for a "professional" page, camelia should be wearing a suit or something :)
18:00 smls A bow-tie maybe? ;)
18:01 smls afk
