19:30 * Auzon is here
19:31 moritz_ ok, let's start
19:31 [particle] i'm here, too
19:31 Auzon - Last week was planned as S04/S05, though it turned out to be mostly S05 with a bit of S09.
19:31 Auzon - This week, more S05 (regexes). Currently working on making a single file for the all forms of angle bracket syntax (with references to the more specific testing areas).
19:31 Auzon - TimToady++'s tryfile is very useful in catching syntax errors in regexes and in general.
19:31 Auzon - Added STD.pm to evalbot. It just tells you if the parse was OK or gives a simple error message, but should be useful.
19:31 moritz_ Auzon: go ahead
19:31 Auzon - Aside from the angle brackets tests, my major goal this week is to add the PGE and/or t/regex/p6regex/ tests to spec and organize them somewhat.
19:31 Auzon - I'm on vacation next week. I'll work on S06 for my last week after I return.
19:31 Auzon .end
19:31 * moritz_ then
19:31 moritz_ * Usual stuff: monitored Auzon++'s commits, added few tests
19:32 moritz_ * will be away from 1st to ~ 18th August. pmichaud, [paticle]: please take over. If I don't show up for the gsoc final evaluation, don't hesitate to do without me.
19:32 moritz_ * been doing a bit of public relations work, telling people that STD.pm  and rakudo both are great
19:32 moritz_ EOR.
19:32 moritz_ [particle]: do you have a report?
19:32 [particle] nothing to report. i'll mentor auzon as needed in your absence
19:33 moritz_ [particle]: thank you.
19:33 moritz_ ok, questions then
19:33 moritz_ Auzon: the usual... any blockers? do you feel you're on track?
19:35 Auzon Not really. STD.pm became ready just in time for me to use it to verify my regexes, which helps a lot. Rakudo's IO improvements are enough for me to get those large tests running with ease, I think.
19:35 Auzon As for being on track, yes, I think I'm doing well.
19:35 moritz_ (on track) that's my impression as well ;)
19:36 Auzon I did realize a problem with using the PGE/p6regex tests, which is that we can't smartlink them (unless I'm missing something)
19:36 [particle] you can put comments in those files
19:36 [particle] but they'll be in the data files, not the .t file
19:37 Auzon Yes, but will they be picked up by the smartlink script?
19:37 moritz_ and then have the smartlinks utility use that fiile as well
19:37 moritz_ Auzon: not in the current state, but I'm confident that agentzh will add it to the command line options in the cron job
19:37 moritz_ iirc it just takes a list of filename from the command line
19:38 Auzon OK, that sounds good. Smartlinking is very useful when finding tests to write and examples of the specced behavior.
19:38 [particle] i believe that's correct
19:38 moritz_ Auzon: ok, when you added some smartlinks @tell agentzh about it
19:39 moritz_ Auzon: if he doesn't show up until my return, I can search feather for the apropriate crontab
19:39 Auzon Great :)
19:40 moritz_ ok, anything else?
19:40 Auzon Out of curiosity, how does/will STD.pm benefit Rakudo?
19:41 moritz_ rakudo's parser is modeled after STD.pm
19:41 moritz_ so once it's adapted, we could get rid of most parsing problems ;)
19:42 moritz_ I don't know if STD.pm directly helps rakudo, though (in terms that rakudo might run STD.pm and then parse the rest with STD.pm)
19:42 moritz_ and it helped to identify wrong tests - but you know that ;-)
19:43 [particle] once rakudo implements protoregexes and longest token match, we'll run STD.pm directly
19:43 moritz_ we will? ok, cool ;)
19:43 Auzon And presumably STD.pm will be Really Fast then?
19:44 [particle] ayep, that's the plan
19:45 [particle] we should have compiled modules by then, too, so not only will parses be faster, but so will execution
19:46 Auzon OK, sounds good. I can't think of anything else right now. Thanks moritz_++ and [particle]++
19:46 moritz_ allright, thank you Auzon
19:46 [particle] left #perl6-soc
19:46 moritz_ meeting over. Bye. ;-)
