19:31 Auzon - Final week of Summer of Code. I'm working on S06 (subroutines). So far things look OK (aside from the very large amount of tests not in spec/ that are about blocks and such)
19:31 Auzon - Didn't do anything at all last week, as expected. My schedule handles this ok.
19:31 Auzon - Is there any administrative work I need to do before or after my project ends?
19:32 Auzon I don't think I have any questions or anything, so that's my "report".
19:32 [particle]1 i can't think of anything you need to do
19:33 [particle] are you on track?
19:33 [particle] do you think you'll accomplish your goals?
19:34 Auzon If this week goes to plan, yes. I think I'll end up with around 700-ish tests added, which is close to what I expected. At the end of the week, I'll see about getting a rough count of the files that I changed to tell about the modification portion
19:36 [particle] are you having fun?
19:36 Auzon It's been a blast :) The regex section melted my brain though.
19:36 [particle] that's to be expected :)
19:37 [particle] i hope you're able to stick around this fall
19:37 Auzon but I'm to the point that I'd rather develop in P6 now than P5, and I can see that it may not be too far off
19:37 [particle] heh, i know that feeling. good, that'll keep you around :)
19:38 Auzon Well, college will take a lot of my time. I still hope to give an hour or two of time a week, and I'll definitely be around on IRC perpetually
19:38 [particle] good, irc presence can really help folks who want to be like you
19:38 [particle] spreading your knowledge around will help perl 6 a lot
19:39 Auzon I'm somewhat interested in making libpurple bindings for Perl (5 would be more practical, but 6 would be neat too, and it'd allow me to use it for real code)...
19:40 Auzon I have a lot of project ideas like that, so I'm hoping to pursue some of them, possibly in Perl 6
19:40 [particle] i don't have anything program-wise to report that you don't already know. things wind down this weekend, and we'll have final surveys next week. code is due to google at the end of the month.
19:41 [particle] as far as rakudo goes, patrick is working hard while at yapc::eu to get performance up
19:41 [particle] then to enable module writers to start work
19:41 [particle] so, libpurple is on the horizon.
19:42 [particle] oh, and tewk++'s ncigen work for parrot should fit nicely into that, making foreign function interfacing much easier
19:42 Auzon Cool. I tore my hair out at Jabber libraries yesterday, and it's one of several small bits of functionality that could enable me for using Perl 6 for serious stuff
19:43 [particle] do you see any reason to have a meeting next week?
19:43 Auzon Not really. I'll be in #perl6 if there's anything I need to know
19:44 Auzon (I'm really interested in using Perl 6 in production-like areas to show how capable it is, which is why I mentioned modules like libpurple.)
19:47 [particle] sure. it'd be nice to see a jabber/irc/aim/etc browser based client using mod_perl6 and libpurple bindings
19:47 [particle] anyhoo, that's for another mentor :)
19:48 Auzon Yeah, that's another project, but it's looking more and more realistic :)
19:48 Auzon I'm going to get back to coding now. See you.
19:48 [particle] thanks to you, moritz, and all the other folks who helped make perl soc and your project a success this summer.
19:49 [particle] bye, everyone!
