07:24 pronik` moritz_: you might want to check out the latex-tweaking branch
07:24 * pronik is off for work

20:39 lucs Hi pronik.
20:39 lucs Nice work in tweak-latex.
20:40 moritz_ hi
20:40 lucs Hello moritz_
20:40 lucs pronik: My installation doesn't appear to have package 'tocstyle'.
20:41 lucs And googling hasn't been helpful so far.
20:47 pronik letme check
20:47 lucs (Getting closer: Koma-script...)
20:48 pronik lucs: texlive-latex-recommended
20:48 lucs That one is up-to-date here apparently.
20:48 pronik one the other topic: I've taken the liberty to start integrating your patch
20:49 lucs (9.04)
20:49 lucs The a4/letter or the sidebar?
20:49 pronik ok, I've got 10.0
20:49 pronik *10.04
20:49 lucs Right.
20:49 pronik tocstyle is not that important iirc
20:49 pronik I'll look at it a bit later
20:50 lucs Well, its absence breaks the build.
20:50 pronik a4/letter -- have you looked at a utility named paperconf?
20:50 moritz_ lucs: do you have a github ID?
20:50 lucs Ah, no (paperconf)
20:50 pronik its output could be a sane default for book generation
20:50 lucs pronik: I will look at it, thanks.
20:51 lucs moritz_: Yep: 'lucs' (might already be in your email :-)
20:51 pronik let me finish eating and I'll get to tocstyle and your patch
20:51 lucs pronik: No problem, take your time.
20:51 moritz_ hugme: add lucs to book
20:51 * hugme hugs lucs. Welcome to book!
20:51 pronik if you don't mind, I'd like to integrate it directly into latex-tweaks branch, since I've already started tweaking pod-to-latex
20:52 lucs pronik: Absolutely!
20:52 lucs I was going to submit a patch to that branch anyway :)
20:52 moritz_ lucs: you now have commit access. Feel free to go wild in branches, and put non-controversial changes anywhere
20:52 lucs moritz_: Thank you sir.
20:52 PerlJam lucs++
20:53 moritz_ lucs: thank you for your patches and effort
20:53 lucs My pleasure.
20:53 lucs And thank you to all you Perl6 folks :)
20:53 pronik moritz_: if you have any latex ideas, like the quotes problem mentioned in the mail, could you just update the TODO.latex? It's easier to follow that way, since some stuff can be done at once
20:53 moritz_ sure
20:54 pronik quotes are fine in my version btw
20:54 * pronik wonders if he should consider french quotes in verbatims a bug ;)
20:55 moritz_ aren't french quotes «»?
20:55 moritz_ pronik: IMHO they are a bug, yes
20:56 lucs pronik: You can copy/paste verbatim quotes from PDF and the code will compile?
20:57 moritz_ including in inline code (ie translated from C<...>)?
20:57 moritz_ anyway, I've added it to TODO.latex
20:57 moritz_ just in case :-)
21:00 pronik joined #perl6book
21:00 pronik sorry
21:00 pronik somehow my emacs hung :(
21:01 pronik lucs: I haven't try compiling yet, but the code itself looks fine and correct
21:01 pronik however, since we now have line numbers, those are copied too :(
21:01 moritz_ well, if you use an IRC client that's directly entangled with your OS... :-)
21:01 lucs pronik: Oops :)
21:02 pronik moritz_: consider windows users -- they have that every day, one programm crashes, the whole OS is gone ;)
21:02 pronik lucs: probably fixable on some level
21:02 moritz_ pronik: akshually that happened quite seldom to me these days, when I was forced to use windows
21:02 lucs pronik: With enough effort, everything is fixable ;-)
21:02 moritz_ which is, like, daily at work
21:03 pronik moritz_: tell me about it, have to work with windows at work too
21:03 pronik lucs: if I'm not mistaken, Acrobat Reader does rectangular selection
21:03 pronik which is then perfectly ok ;)
21:04 * pronik ponders whether to try installing acroread...
21:04 * moritz_ goes to bed for now
21:04 pronik yay, a 100MiB download :D
21:05 lucs pronik: It does! (just tried it)
21:05 lucs Sleep well moritz_
21:05 moritz_ thanks
21:05 moritz_ have fun hacking :-)
21:05 lucs You bet :)
21:15 lucs pronik: It turns out that xpdf also does rectangular selection.
21:18 pronik evince doesn't, but I can't really estimate how many people will actually care
21:19 pronik is seems everyone else except for evince does it right
21:19 pronik http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/16549/
21:19 lucs Heh.
21:30 pronik joined #perl6book
21:39 lucs Gotta go -- back in 5, 6 hours.
21:42 pronik ok, I'll hack around :)
23:40 pronik lucs, moritz_: I've been playing with "minted" package and also XeTeX, seems I'm getting better results, especially with Unicode stuff. Gotta experiment more :)
23:40 pronik lucs: your margins didn't work for me, the text was too far to the right
23:41 pronik one nice touch of "minted" is that is workes through pygments, which is pretty cool and it might get syntax highlighting for perl6 earlier than any latex package would
