14:03 michael is there good practice for declaring prereqs? in particular, prereqs already required by another - e.g. should a module using Moose include "namespace::autoclean" even though it is required by Moose?
14:04 alh Yes
14:04 alh It's possible Moose will one day not depend on it
14:04 alh And then you're module will break
14:05 michael cheers, that was my feeling too, but couldn't see anything suggesting that
14:07 alh https://metacpan.org/source/ETHER/Moose-2.1403/META.yml#L1127
14:07 alh Also, recommended to list modules that are shipped with core (like warnings and strict)
14:07 alh Since they may one day not be in core
14:08 alh (I'm saying it's possible, I'm not saying that's the plan ;))
14:09 haarg also Moose doesn't require namespace::autoclean
14:11 michael oh you're right, misread the reverse deps. definitely need to add it to the PR then

17:37 ether Moose has metadata recording a *conflict* with namespace::autoclean, which is a sort of reverse dependency (but describing a bad range of versions, not a good range) -- because namespace::autoclean uses Moose, not the other way around
17:37 ether nac doesn't *require* Moose, but it uses it if it's available

19:09 deven haarg: You were talking about "git add -p" the other day and how it allows you to commit only the relevant parts of unrelated changes in progress.  I'm sure you already know this, but I thought I'd mention for the audience that this also allows you to split or even edit the diff hunk interactively in case the unrelated changes are close together or overlapping.  Very powerful stuff. :)

23:32 neilb We’re currently standing at 30.8% complete, with 328 people still having an assignment (quite a few SKIPs)
23:33 Su-Shee oh a third actually doing stuff is still quite nice.
23:33 gryphon Yeah, those sound like great numbers for the first month.
23:34 rvandam do we need to report back or is that pulled automatically somehow?
23:34 gryphon ...and this is the "oh, crap, only 1 week left" week.
23:35 Su-Shee rvandam: just tell neilb
23:36 neilb rvandam: you just email me saying “I’m done” and GIVING ME YOUR GITHUB USERNAME please.
23:36 rvandam great, will do.  I've already had 2 pr's merged but have at least 1 more up my sleeve
23:36 neilb It’s nice if you give URLs for your PR(s), as then I go look at them too. And you can write a blog post as well, if you like. But mainly you just feel good about doing it, and have fun.
23:37 neilb rvandam: aces!
23:37 oalders or you can just mention @neilbowers in all of your pull requests :)
23:38 Su-Shee *hihi* :)
23:38 Su-Shee at least I also have my first CPAN module 1/3 done :)
23:38 cakirke joined #pr-challenge
23:38 thrig bacon and eggs with pull pull pull pull pull lovely pull!
23:41 neilb Only 23 people have dropped out so far, which is much better than I was expecting. I’m expecting a lot more skips this week.
23:42 Su-Shee yes, I think that's realistic.
23:42 Su-Shee I already scheduled my cpanpr time for next month ;)
23:42 neilb Su-Shee: and when you release it, you’ll get to experience your first CPAN PR from the other side :-)
23:42 Su-Shee neilb: well first I actually have to finish it :)
23:43 neilb Well, you don’t actually: PR-driven development FTW!
23:43 neilb Just make a todo list for the things you plan to do and put it on CPAN!
23:43 Su-Shee well at least it shouldn't segfault things anymore ;)
23:43 neilb yeah, maybe so.

23:44 neilb Right, bed time for me. Enjoy the rest of your birthday oalders!
