13:49 neilb And Doyle Young takes us to 30% complete for February. With whole days to spare!
13:50 neilb I figure we’re not getting close to the deadline yet, because I haven’t heard from genehack yet :-)
13:56 monsieurp neilb: I want moar packages
13:57 monsieurp MOAR!

13:58 * pink_mist doubts he will be able to do the april one at all -- that will be a very very busy month for me

19:01 n2plato What is the best strategy for reading a test-file from the t/ directory in a test?
19:01 n2plato Is using $ENV{PWD} satisfactory?
19:02 thrig CWD is usually the root dir of the dist
19:02 thrig or, stick it in __DATA__
19:03 n2plato good thought.  It's a pretty large file
19:14 ether you could use FindBin for that, or just use a relative path name. It's pretty standard to run .t files from the root level of the repository; you don't have to support anything else.
19:14 ether my $data = Path::Tiny::path('t/data/foo.dat')->slurp_utf8;

19:26 tinypig er... question: that "global" thing we get messages from telling us we have ops... hopefully that isn't a two-way street as I just typed my password into it...?
19:37 n2plato ether: For Parse-CPAN-Packages-Fast...do you think it's reasonable to alter the test to supply a version of 02packages.details.txt.gz for use in the tests only if the .cpan/sources/modules/02packages.details.txt.gz doesn't exist?
19:38 ether I think it should always supply its own
19:38 ether because there's no way to guarantee that the version in ~/.cpan will contain the needed data
19:38 n2plato ok
19:38 n2plato keep the same name?
19:38 ether yes
19:38 n2plato for the test file
19:38 n2plato k
19:38 ether it can be tiny, e.g. a few dozen entries
19:40 n2plato the tests are presently looking for in excess 10000
19:40 n2plato of 10000*
19:40 n2plato i can trim it down :)
