17:06 bjakubski should META.{yaml, json} files be under version control in git repository for CPAN modules?
17:07 thrig I don't
17:10 leont Some people do that, some don't
17:10 leont It depends on your workflow
17:11 leont Some people want their repo to be as close as possible to the final product, others don't want generated files checked in
17:15 bjakubski just noticed that while META.yml in in git repo for my PR module it is hopelessly out of date and *not* the META.yml that is on CPAN
17:15 bjakubski So it is "in git repo by mistake" category for me
17:18 leont Right, that could well be the caes

22:49 bjakubski So my PR module has problem on freebsd (no gcc there anymore). Seems that removing  CC='g++' and adding CCFLAGS='-xc++' to WriteMakefile options does the trick, but I have no idea if this it the right thing to do
22:50 bjakubski there is also ExtUtils::CppGuess which on FBSD does basically what I described above. Should that be used?
23:03 leont That's the right thing on some platforms, but the wrong thing on others. Figuring out the right thing is difficult.
23:03 leont Actually, CCFLAGS='-xc++' is probably the wrong thing anyway, since that will overwrite the current CCFLAGS value unless I'm mistaken
23:06 leont You want to append to it really
23:07 leont And you'd need some LDFLAGS too, that is even trickier to get right
23:09 bjakubski By "current" CCFLAGS you mean env variable or option that already may be present in makefile.pl?
23:10 leont It has a default value
23:10 leont «perl -V:ccflags» will tell you what it is
23:10 leont Some of the things in there may be important
23:11 bjakubski I see
23:15 bjakubski Thanks, I will have a closer look at it probably tomorrow
