16:44 choroba considering next year:
16:45 choroba I think an old idea won't attract many people
16:45 choroba Trying something else might get more people interested
16:45 Zoffix +1
16:46 choroba even an old like me would be more entertained by new tricks
18:30 ether so, what kind of twist can be put on the PRC to jazz it up for next year?
18:30 ether or something entirely different perhaps
18:31 ether swarm the non-perl communities to evangelize perl
18:31 ether write perl clients to popular technologies that lack them
18:32 Zoffix Ohh, I like that one.
18:32 Zoffix But doing an API implementation each month is too much work.
18:33 ether *nod*
18:34 ether it would have to be broken up into smaller pieces that could be counted separately
18:54 choroba I thought of selecting one or several "distributions of the month", and then everyone working on them
18:54 choroba the candidates might be selected from the ones with most bugreports
18:55 choroba but it would need some kind of coordination to avoid duplicate effort
19:09 ether and coordination with the maintainers of that distributio :)
19:09 ether +n
19:10 ether possibly a group project all working on a particular feature for a popular distribution/framework
19:10 Zoffix I suspect that would be tough to organize

22:22 choroba OK, I got Catmandu::PICA this month
22:23 choroba it seems to fail with Catmandu version 0.9503
22:23 choroba but if I add "conflicts Catmandu => '== 0.9503'; " into its cpanfile, its behaviour doesn't change
22:24 leont conflicts doesn't work
22:24 choroba it doesn't tell me my Catmandu version is invalid
22:24 choroba ah
22:24 leont Toolchain has only theoretical support for it
22:24 choroba even with milla
22:24 choroba ?
22:24 leont It's not an authoring problem, it's an installer problem
22:25 leont Conflicts has broken semantics, really
22:25 choroba is there a workaround?
22:32 leont There are some, none of them are particularly attractive to me
22:32 leont I'd just require 0.9504 and be done with it, really
22:34 choroba hmm
22:53 choroba I probably don't understand these *illas well enough
22:54 choroba changing the cpanfile with >= has no impact on milla smoke
22:54 choroba when I try milla install, though, it tries to fetch the newer version of the dependency
22:55 choroba but if I try to build the distribution in the directory created by milla build, it doesn't complain and fails the tests.
