10:37 ptc does adding the `use warnings` pragma add any extra dependencies I might not be aware of?
10:37 ptc an author is telling me that my `use warnings` addition to the code won't go in as he wants his module to be light and not module dependent
10:38 ptc but if `use warnings` is in core (and has been since at least 5.6 iirc), then this shouldn't be a problem, right?
10:38 ptc or am I missing something?
10:49 Lee sounds more like the author doesn't want warnings, may be a legit reason for that
10:49 Lee "not module depedent" isn't a reason to avoid warnings
10:55 ptc Lee: thanks, that's what I was thinking.
10:55 ptc I'm guessing there's a legit reason as well, but that's the reason I got given.
10:56 ptc am also wondering if I should try to convince him to add warnings...
10:59 ribasushi ptc: he is saying it right there "the module sometimes could be used without anything at all"
11:00 ribasushi ptc: the cost is not high, but it isn't 0 either, in case of rapid start/stop as part of say an xargs pipeline things add up
11:00 ribasushi ptc: see also last paragraph of commit msg: https://github.com/dbsrgits/dbix-class/commit/cb551b079
11:02 ribasushi ptc: what you can do instead is propose something like this: https://github.com/dbsrgits/dbix-class/blob/current/blead/lib/DBIx/Class/Optional/Dependencies.pm#L1-L10
11:12 ptc ribasushi: thanks! :-)
11:13 ptc ribasushi: that helps me understand his perspective better
