02:07 choroba One of my biggest pull requests so far: https://github.com/renormalist/Net-SSH-Perl/pull/11
02:07 choroba I asked the maintainer of the dist, he pointed me to a "fork" that would be nice to get merged
02:08 choroba the problem was it wasn't a real fork, it was a repo that started from a commit and diverged from the main one
02:08 choroba the starting commit doesn't exist in the "official" fork, as there are several forks around
02:09 choroba fortunately, git was able to add a remote from a repository with no common commit, and then rebase it into the original one
02:10 choroba I just had to resolve some conflicts
02:21 choroba BTW, is there a way how to tell CPAN testers not to test a deprecated distribution?

22:50 Tordek hi!
22:51 Tordek I've been assigned to https://github.com/perl5-dbi/DBD-CSV but this is the last week and I have no clue what to even do for my PR
22:52 Tordek fortunately for the project, but no so much for me, the maintainer is pretty thorough... which means there's no open bugs. also, I'm new to perl, so I don't exactly grok what's going on
22:57 neilb Tordek: have you emailed the author?

23:40 kid51 Tordek: Have you run its test suite thru Devel::Cover to see if there is unexercised source code?
23:51 itcharlie1 joined #pr-challenge
23:52 Tordek sorry, I was AFK for a bir
23:52 itcharlie1 left #pr-challenge
23:53 Tordek neilb: yes, he said to look at the TODOs in the source, but they're... cryptic, or I have no clue what to do about them
23:53 Tordek e.g.: one says "streaming support", and another one (which he kinda recommended more) says "filesystem has to be case aware"
23:54 Tordek kid51: no; how do I go about that?
23:54 kid51 first install Devel::Cover
23:54 kid51 e.g., cpanm Devel::Cover
23:55 kid51 then, in the checkout of the module you're working on:
23:55 kid51 perl Makefile.PL
23:55 kid51 make
23:55 kid51 cover -delete
23:55 kid51 HARNESS_PERL_SWITCHES=-MDevel::Cover make test
23:55 kid51 cover
23:56 kid51 many variations possible by reading perldoc Devel::Cover and perldoc cover
23:56 kid51 Identify untested code
23:56 kid51 Write tests to exercise
23:56 kid51 that code
23:56 Tordek ok, I'll check tht out
23:56 kid51 rinse; repeat
23:56 kid51 prepare patch.
23:57 jamessan Tordek: You might also try running codespell to see if there are any spelling errors :) I've had a number of PRs from that
23:57 kid51 I usually put that HARNESS ... make test line in a shell alias or function called 'harness'
