15:38 otherwiseguy mgagne: I ran into a problem with inifile that I believe you also ran into: it doesn't handle empty values. For quantum, this means that provider networks can't be used because to use them you have to set "external_network_bridge=" in l3_agent.ini.
15:38 mgagne otherwiseguy: true
15:38 otherwiseguy I have a pull request in for it that also addresses the bug you found with your implementation.

15:38 otherwiseguy (and adds more tests)
15:41 mgagne otherwiseguy: I'll check it out in more details when I'll find time but looks good to me

17:40 bodepd_ marun: I added back that helper script.
17:40 bodepd_ marun: for running tempest tests (I modified it a little to bring it in line with requirements.txt)
17:40 bodepd_ marun: I tried all day to get an install from tox and it just caused my local networking to blowup.
17:41 bodepd_ marun: that script (which uses pip directly, works perfectly)
17:41 bodepd_ marun: I also noticed that the requirements.txt file was installing client libraries. This did not seem valid for the package install use case.
18:02 marun bodepd_: If tempest is going to be run, tox is the way to do it, or via the venv.
18:03 marun bodepd_: Until tempest itself gets packaged, at least.
18:03 bodepd_ marun: both of those methods just explode
18:04 marun bodepd_: For you, sure.
18:04 bodepd_ ;)

18:06 bodepd_ marun: you have gotten it to run successfully?
18:07 marun bodepd_: yes
18:07 bodepd_ on a vm or bare-metal?
18:10 bodepd_ marun: on a vm? on the puppet installed controller?
18:15 marun vm

20:13 Pax Hi! This may be a really dumb question.. but here ya go… I'm using the Puppet OpenStack module to try and learn OS, and it seems like the module leave the "keystone_authtoken" section in nova.conf which horns me.. has anyone else run into that?
20:13 Pax I'm using the 2013.1.2  version of the openstack-nova-common RPM from the RDO repo for rhel6
20:34 mgagne Pax: Does RedHat provide a keystone_authtoken section in nova.conf? puppet-openstack used to purge all unmanaged sections/settings.
20:34 mgagne Pax: What should puppet-nova do? Should it remove the section or should it configure nova keystone admin user?
20:35 Pax mgagne: yeah, it looks like there a authtoken section in there, and since it's not purged by the module its causing problems :/ at least in v2.0 of the module
20:35 Pax mgagne: I'm thinking remove, since it stops it from working, but i'm *really* new to OS
20:35 Pax I think the cinder and quantum modules have similar issues
20:36 Pax checking with my fellow OS explorer
20:36 mgagne Pax: try setting purge_nova_config to true

21:14 Pax Hmm still no joy, but I think thats going to work for me in the end...
21:22 michchap joined #puppet-openstack
21:29 Pax Is the master branch of the openstack module going to be havana specific, or will it be useable with grizzly too?
21:31 mgagne Pax: it should be targeted at havana, fixes for grizzly will have to be backported to grizzly branch and released to forge
21:31 mgagne Pax: sorry for the delay
21:31 Pax mgagne: It looks like the purge_nova_config doesn't exist in openstack::nova::controller and that we'd need to use the higher openstack::controller module
21:31 Pax no worries
21:31 mgagne Pax: you can do the job of purge_nova_config in your parent manifest
21:32 mgagne resources { 'nova_config': purge => true, }
21:35 devicenull joined #puppet-openstack
21:35 Pax Hmmm maybe it was an ordering thing.. I moved that to the bottom and it removed it from the file! yeehaa thats a good start!
21:35 Pax can't I use the -> notation for  resource?
21:38 mgagne Pax: what did you move to bottom? resources { ... } ?
21:39 prad joined #puppet-openstack
21:39 Pax mgagne: yup, I moved resources {}  to the bottom
21:40 mgagne Pax: not sure how the catalog reacts to default values being updated by resources: if there's an implicit dependency declared or not.

22:48 bodepd_ mgagne: what is the thing you are nto sure of?
22:48 bodepd_ mgagne: resources override defaults
22:48 bodepd_ mgagne: implicit deps are 'soft' in that they can be overridden or reversed
22:48 mgagne bodepd_: Pax said that moving around resources { ... } changed the result. But could also be that running puppet twice fixed his problem.
22:50 bodepd_ that doesn't sound right.
22:50 bodepd_ I didnt quite follow why the purge was necessary
22:51 mgagne bodepd_: Could be that RDO includes additional sections to nova.conf
22:51 bodepd_ hmm. and they conflict with those resources?
22:51 bodepd_ the best answer maybe to have a look at packstack
22:51 mgagne bodepd_: it's not about conflicts, it's about him required to remove this section
22:51 bodepd_ they are testing these modules with RDO
22:52 bodepd_ oh, I thought he had to remove it b/c of a conflict
22:52 bodepd_ mgagne: what did you think about my tempest patch?
22:52 mgagne bodepd_: didn't have time this week to work on puppet, sorry
22:52 bodepd_ no worries
22:53 mgagne bodepd_: at least my ubuntu packages are building =)
