01:41 pabelanger Does the puppetlabs keystone module support version 3.0?
01:42 mgagne pabelanger: what do you mean? the configuration of the endpoint? or the actual endpoint used internally by puppet to configure users/services and stuff?
01:42 dmsimard joined #puppet-openstack
01:43 mgagne pabelanger: you should be able to override the default value in $keystone::endpoint::version to publish an endpoint for v3
01:44 pabelanger mgagne, I'm curious if anybody has been using the https://github.com/openstack/keystone/blob/master/etc/policy.v3cloudsample.json policy file specifically
01:44 pabelanger reading through code now to see
01:44 openstackgerrit Paul Belanger proposed a change to stackforge/puppet-keystone: License for Keystone not Swift  https://review.openstack.org/60399
01:44 mgagne pabelanger: keystone does not manage policy.json
01:45 pabelanger mgagne, okay, that makes it easier. Thanks
01:45 mgagne pabelanger: yep =)
01:52 mgagne it looks like puppet-rspec 1.0.0 broke our unit tests.

12:56 mattymo EmilienM, hey you there?
12:56 EmilienM mattymo: o/
12:56 mattymo EmilienM, in using nova::compute class, our class requires qemu-kvm (or qemu-kvm-rhev for RH openstack)
12:56 mattymo it doesn't get installed as a dependency
12:57 mattymo oh crap yes it does with openstack-nova-compute
12:57 mattymo it isn't a dep for libvirt itself
12:58 mattymo ignore me.. I answered my question
13:10 EmilienM mattymo: :)
13:10 EmilienM fc__: i wonder what we could do to fix gate
13:11 mattymo another nova issue
13:11 mattymo libvirt-guests service interferes with normal nova compute operation and needs to be marked disabled
13:12 mattymo would explicitly disabling services like this be atypical for our guidelines?
13:12 EmilienM mattymo: mhh, i'm not sure about this one
13:15 mattymo there are 2 problems - auto starting vms on boot, and suspending vms on shutdown
13:16 mattymo there is no case where during normal nova compute operation a host needs to shut down and suspend vms
13:16 mattymo all vms get migrated if you have a responsible admin
13:16 mattymo and suspend (default operation) would take forever on a loaded server

15:00 EmilienM fvollero: False is case sensitive in Python
15:02 fvollero EmilienM: still, you are using capitalize in the template, the final result is the same
15:02 fvollero EmilienM: but if in the module you used true, when you use it again, you should use false and not 'False'
15:03 fvollero EmilienM: the test will not fail, because true.to_s => "true" with .capitalize "True" and if you say: 'False' you get the exact same result in the output

17:18 mgagne fvollero: I tested every projects against rspec-puppet/master and I found no issue yesterday

20:59 hogepodge I'm not sure if anyone is following vswitch patches, but I have a fairly simple change for release if anyone wants to look at it. It doesn't depend on stdlib, so it will pass gate. Mostly interested in comments on the README.md file. https://review.openstack.org/#/c/60573/
21:09 mgagne hogepodge: I saw it, checking
21:11 mgagne hogepodge: hopefully gate won't break :D
21:11 hogepodge Does anyone know which 3.0 version of puppet we are gating against?
21:12 mgagne 3.0.x
21:12 hogepodge vswitch doesn't depend on stdlib.
21:12 hogepodge Do we test on precise?
21:12 hogepodge I'm just trying to replicate the gate environment.
21:12 mgagne hogepodge: jenkins slave is running precise. we use a gemfile to download the gems
21:12 mgagne using bundle
21:12 hogepodge Great. I'm on the right path then.

21:23 dmsimard Any puppet-swift users around ?
21:41 hogepodge dmsimard: I aspire to be one.
21:41 hogepodge If you can call it an aspiration.
21:45 jkyle joined #puppet-openstack
21:49 dmsimard hogepodge: It's not exactly easy :D
21:50 dmsimard hogepodge: Bashed my head against it today, going to have to do some more work next week. The example manifests in "tests" are definitely outdate but I'm not exactly knowledgeable enough yet to commit anything back
21:50 hogepodge I want to get a small swift cluster set up, and sooner rather than later.
21:56 hogepodge I'm able to reproduce locally now
22:01 mgagne dmsimard: xingchao is a puppet-swift user
22:32 hogepodge It appears that the gate is a puppet 3.0.2 problem.
22:32 hogepodge Testing against 3.0.1 and everything passes.
22:33 hogepodge So, the questions are: what changed? Do we want to downgrade the gate to 3.0.1? Talking with the FOSS team even if there is a bug in the testing framework for 3.0.2 (which is suspected, but not confirmed) there won't be any further releases to the 3.0.x branch.
22:37 mgagne hogepodge: what triggered the breakage? I think puppetlabs-stdlib suffers the same catastrophic failures in unit tests.
22:37 mgagne hogepodge: https://travis-ci.org/puppetlabs/puppetlabs-stdlib/builds/15004743
22:38 hogepodge puppet-rspec was updated recently. 1.0.0 caused a fairly serious break. 1.0.1 was released to address it.
22:38 mgagne sure
22:38 mgagne but still breaking for puppet 3.0.x
22:39 hogepodge That's incorrect. We break for 3.0.2. Not for 3.0.1
22:39 hogepodge (just verified locally)
22:39 mgagne hogepodge: right. and it looks to be caused by something in puppetlabs-stdlib no?
22:40 hogepodge I'm not sure what's causing it.
22:40 mgagne could it be related to how stdlib functions are loaded (or not) ?
22:40 hogepodge I think the puppetlabs-stdlib failure yesterday was from the rspec-puppet bug.
22:41 hogepodge I'm going to rekick the travis build for puppetlabs-stdlib to verify.
22:46 xarses the 1.0.1 rspec is out now ?
22:46 hogepodge Yes, it is. All of the builds were fixed except for those on Puppet 3.0.2
22:48 xarses hogepodge: slightly better then
22:48 hogepodge Yes. Still blocking, though, so only slightly
22:50 mgagne hogepodge: we can mark puppet 3.0.x as non-voting until we figure out the issue
22:50 hogepodge Emilien mentioned that. I think it's a good idea. We can also gate against 3.0.1 if we want to keep it as a voting job.
22:51 hogepodge Although at some point we're going to have to make hard decisions as a community as to how far back we're going to reach for supported versions.
22:51 mgagne hogepodge: this isn't reasonably possible
22:52 xarses hogepodge: I think we have to support whichever versions ship on supported operating systems
22:52 xarses hence why 2.7.19 is around for RedHat
22:53 mgagne hogepodge: lets disable vote for 3.0. pinning to 3.0.1 is not a viable option atm due to the way jobs are created/managed
22:54 mgagne https://github.com/openstack-infra/config/blob/master/modules/openstack_project/files/jenkins_job_builder/config/puppet-module-jobs.yaml#L8 and https://github.com/openstack-infra/config/blob/master/modules/openstack_project/files/jenkins_job_builder/config/puppet-module-jobs.yaml#L41-L48
22:56 hogepodge I see.
22:57 mgagne hogepodge: marking a job as non-voting is similar to this process but reversed: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/60140/
