09:18 Zoshonel hello everyone, I have certain git related question to ask, could you please if you have spare time to have a look at this error ? : http://pastealacon.com/34829
09:18 Zoshonel i want to make a push but seems like it didn't work
09:24 aldavud Zoshonel: it looks like you are tyring to manually use the review commands? The proper way would be to install gerrit and just use the "git review" command, that would automatically cover those steps for you
09:24 aldavud Zoshonel: make sure you read and understand all of https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Gerrit_Workflow#Committing_Changes
09:27 Zoshonel aldavud : thank you, I will take a look. I'm totally new to git and gerrit, so I don't really know the basic setting

15:56 mgagne EmilienM: what was the concern with use_ssl with Net::HTTP ?
15:56 mdorman EmilienM:   $ssl_keyfile is the ssl key used for the keystone api service itself, that’s used to encrypt the connections.  $signing_keyfile is the key that’s used to sign tokens
15:57 mdorman i think they map to the keystone.conf config items with the same names

16:04 michchap EmilienM: when you use ml2+ovs are you including the neutron::plugins::ml2 class on compute nodes or just network/control nodes?
16:05 mgagne EmilienM: it works because something probably includes net/https beforehand (like rubygems)
16:05 michchap EmilienM: it is responsible for the ml2_conf.ini on RH but I don't think we were including the plugin classes on compute nodes before, just the agents.
16:06 EmilienM michchap: right
16:06 EmilienM michchap: with my last patch you should not need to include it
16:07 EmilienM only neutron::agents::ml2::ovs
16:11 michchap EmilienM: the neutron-plugin-ml2 package is managed by plugins::ml2 class, and I think this package is responsible for creating the ml2_conf.ini, which is needed on the compute node.

18:26 shadyabhi Hi guys, I recently started using puppet modules for nova. Is it like not all options can be changed via puppet? I wanted to change "instance_name_template"'s value in nova.conf on my compute nodes but it gives error as "Invalid parameter instance_name_template at ... ". I added that parameter in "::nova::compute" class.
18:28 dtalton it needs to be exposed
18:28 shadyabhi dtalton: Thanks for replying. So, a PR on github will do?
18:28 dtalton these type of directves are what actually write info the config
18:28 dtalton https://github.com/stackforge/puppet-nova/blob/master/manifests/compute.pp#L98
18:29 dtalton we use git review
18:29 dtalton so, git clone REPO, git review -s, make branch, commit changes, then git review to push it
18:29 dtalton then you get code review and hopefully acceptance
18:34 shadyabhi dtalton: Ok, so for the options that are not exposed, nova_config is to be used? I'm new to this, not getting why it's all prefixed by "DEFAULT".
18:39 openstackgerrit joined #puppet-openstack
18:40 hogepodge shadyabhi https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Gerrit_Workflow
18:42 mgagne shadyabhi: DEFAULT is the section name in which the config goes.
18:45 mgagne shadyabhi: not all options are exposed as there a hundreds of them. If options are not configurable through puppet-nova, people often manage them through their own manifests (outside puppet-nova). If the option is worth managing through puppet-nova, it could be added. The link hogepodge sent you is the workflow our project uses which is the same as the one used by OpenStack projects.

22:56 hogepodge they un-deprecated the thing they were supposed to replace.
22:57 hogepodge (nova-network… it’s being actively developed again from what I understand)
22:57 hogepodge I can usually figure out what’s going wrong with a system based on the logs, but not this time.

22:58 hogepodge http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/openstack-ops/content/nova-network-deprecation.html
22:58 hogepodge "Though significant effort has been made to address these concerns, nova-network will not be deprecated in the Icehouse release”"
