21:50 conne Hi everyone. I want to write some good example code in ALGOL. And I need something to implement. I thought about md5, but that seems to be too boring since it is just some bit shifting and array stuff. Can you think of an example that really brings ALGOL to its boundries and which is not too big and complicated?
22:04 sorear man or boy?
22:06 conne Well that's possibly a little bit too small.
22:07 conne But of cause a good example.
22:19 mikemol conne: I don't know ALGOL myself, but... http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Reports:Tasks_not_implemented_in_ALGOL_68
22:19 fedaykin "Reports:Tasks not implemented in ALGOL 68 - Rosetta Code" http://rldn.net/Qa62
22:21 conne mikemol: I looked at that one. But haven't found anything cool.
22:25 sorear it's supposed to be an algorithmic language.  maybe try a few of the classic algorithms, like recursive quicksort
22:25 mikemol conne: Then, apart from the stuff we already have implemented, this is all I've got to suggest: [[Rosetta Code:Village Pump/Suggest a programming task]]
22:25 fedaykin http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Rosetta_Code:Village_Pump/Suggest_a_programming_task
22:25 Hypftier just think about what the language does quite well and pick tasks according to that if you want to show off the power
22:26 sorear Bitmap/Histogram looks cool
22:29 conne Cool. Thanks a lot. I will think about it. You'll get the code when I successfully implemented <something>. :)

22:49 mikemol I predict friction when there's a code dump without a task description.
22:49 mikemol Well, I'm off for the weekend. Don't expect to be online again until Sunday-ish.
