Note to self: Create task for looping over two arrays in concert. |
| 18:47 |
|
opticron |
given the arrays are of the same length? |
| 18:49 |
|
* mikemol |
nods |

With languages with 'zip' or similar, it's trivial. Otherwise, there's some annoying machinations necesary. |
| 18:51 |
|
opticron |
yeah, zip is fun |
| 18:52 |
|
mikemol |
I still find Paddy's zip(var*var) == unzip. |
| 18:52 |
|
mikemol |
er. |
| 18:52 |
|
mikemol |
I find that strange. |
| 18:52 |
|
opticron |
huh |
| 18:53 |
|
mikemol |
Not because it doesn't makes sense (I can just assume that), but the var*var reads like a cartesian join, and makes me paranoid of using insane amounts of memory. |
| 18:53 |
|
mikemol |
But then, I'm not accustomed to assuming my langauges are lazy. |

there's one guy that codes for D (or did) that rapes compilers, writes infix operators using compile time black magic and hijacking of other operators |
| 18:54 |
|
opticron |
he wrote an entire functional operator set using things like /fix/ , /zip/ , etc |
| 18:54 |
|
mikemol |
er. I misquoted paddy's thing. |

Some day, when I've got time, I'm going to write a Perl6 compiler (up to the NQP logical boundary) in C++. |
| 18:55 |
|
mikemol |
They're both languages I enjoy, so I feel a strong urge to combine them. |
| 18:55 |
|
mikemol |
(And I'm not foolhardy enough to try writing a C++ compiler in Perl 6...) |

is hoping to hear back from SoniaKeys at some point; her blog references RC a lot, and is usually interesting, so I want to add it to the RC planet. |
