06:07 eMBee mikemol: did you know that the waybackmachine mirror of codecodex.com has working edit links? that means it's possible to access the raw source which could easely be imported into rc

13:40 mikemol eMBee: Neat observation! However, I wouldn't want to import the content directly, because it wouldn't sit right with me for copyright concerns.
13:45 eMBee it's the same license, isn't it?
13:50 eMBee the import could be done into a seperate namespace and made readonly, which would still be nicer as a form of preservation than archive.org

13:56 mikemol eMBee: importing into a separate namespace and making it read-only makes a decent amount of sense. :)
13:57 mikemol The general problem with pulling in content from other sources is copyright violation stemming from incorrect use of licensed content and from poor citation.
13:58 mikemol It's not just a question of license compatibility, but of correct treatment of the material in a broader sense.

20:36 mwn3d_phone mikemol: google is adding SSL to searches for logged in users. Apparently this gets rid of search term analytics data.

20:39 mikemol ?
20:39 mikemol mwn3d_phone: I don't understand the statement.
20:40 mwn3d_phone www.wired.com/threatlevel/2‚Äč011/10/google-search-https/
20:40 fedaykin "Google Encrypts Search to Thwart Wi-Fi Hackers | Threat Level | Wired.com" http://rldn.net/4Zq
20:42 mwn3d_phone "Web marketers also howled at the idea of encrypted search, because every time a google user clicks on a search result...the destination is told what search term led the user there. That marketing data is not sent from an encrypted search."
20:42 * mikemol nods
20:42 mwn3d_phone So our analytics data may not have search terms for some users
20:44 mwn3d_phone Search is most of our traffic
20:44 mikemol Funny thing is that network administrators can implement SSL MITM attacks to allow filtering proxies to still work. It requires installing a trusted CA cert on end-user machines, but in, e.g. a school or enterprise network environment, that may even be appropriate.
20:44 mwn3d_phone But users are probably not logged in to their google accounts at work
20:45 mikemol Our analytics data comes from Google. That article notes that analytics data will be available to webmasters via their webmaster tools package, so I expect the keyword details will still get in, just via back channels, not via an HTTP request header.
