15:33 mwn3d_phone mikemol: [[User:Nickolas]]
15:33 fedaykin http://rosettacode.org/wiki/User:Nickolas
15:35 mikemol Ah. Yeah, he and I chatted a long time ago, on Reddit and in conversation around this old RC blog post: http://rosettacode.org/blog/2009/12/why-and-why-not-mediawiki.html

15:58 mikemol Hm.
15:58 mikemol That's the second user this week who's dumped [[Template:Mylang]] from their user profile.

15:58 mikemol What's going on?
16:20 eMBee dumped? as in removed?
16:21 mikemol Yeah.
16:21 mikemol It seems unusual.
16:21 eMBee indeed
16:22 eMBee myself i only list the languages that i am interested in on rc specifically...
16:23 eMBee and i can see people not adding languages, but removing them after is really odd
16:29 * eMBee enjoys writing tasks for rc, hopefully others will enjoy solving them too.

19:25 mwn3d_phone mikemol: FYI whenever you can get to software upgrades...there's a newer version of SMW which adds a "tagcloud" output format that could be fun.

20:41 mikemol I find myself in the position of handwriting a small-memory caching module for smallish, simple values that are expensive to get.
20:43 mikemol I also find myself wishing that I had a cheap, infinite supply of random numbers; if I had that, it would be trivial to create a small-memory-footprint caching module which would tend to expire infrequently-used items, but keep recent, frequently-used items.
20:43 mikemol Of course, there are always problems with sourcing random numbers...
20:45 mikemol If I had them, though, then every time I had a pull from the cache, I would flip an n-sided coin to decide whether or not to move the item in the cache to the top of a list. Every time I clean the cache, I clean out all but the top m items in the list.
20:46 mikemol The tendency would be to clean out rarely-pulled cache items, and keep the frequently-pulled items.
20:46 mikemol (This would be inside a factory, fwiw; if there's a miss, it'd create the item and stuff it in the cache.)
20:58 mwn3d_phone mikemol: take a cue from random.org and hook a radio antenna up to your computer :p
