12:33 ivanshmakov I wonder if Rosetta Code could allow for CC BY-SA-licensed content, if only for “interoperability” with the WMF projects (such as Wikibooks)?

13:46 ttmrichter ivanshmakov: What's the current license?
13:59 ivanshmakov ttmrichter: Isn’t it GNU FDL (“without non-free bits”)?
14:00 ttmrichter I have no idea.
14:01 ivanshmakov The bottom of http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Rosetta_Code page reads: “GNU Free Documentation License 1.2.”

14:11 ttmrichter There we have it.
14:11 ttmrichter Now I know the license.
14:11 ttmrichter I generally don't really care because my contributions are what I type and mentally I use the WTFPL for everything.
14:15 ivanshmakov ttmrichter: My point is that we have some “an algorithm in a bunch of languages” pages here at https://ru.wikibooks.org/, and my guess is that it’d be better to eventually move them to Rosetta Code. Yet, it’s impossible right now due to the conflicting licenses.

14:19 eMBee the problem is that we'd love to have rosettacode CC BY-SA compatible, but there was only one time when this was possible to change, and that was missed
14:19 eMBee now every contributor would have to give individual permission
14:20 mwn3d1 joined #rosettacode
14:21 eMBee in theory it might be possible, but it it will take quite some work to track everyone down

21:44 ivanshmakov eMBee: FWIW, Wikimedians had the same problem, and got it solved. It would’ve been easier if Rosetta Code was “GNU FDL 1.2 /or latter/”, as 1.3 already allows for CC BY-SA relicensing in certain cases. (But it would’ve been better to do that earlier, anyway; check that version for the details.)
21:46 ivanshmakov eMBee: Also, Rosetta Code could require /both/ GNU FDL (1.2+) /and/ CC BY-SA for the user’s contributions /from now on./ All the content would still be “GNU FDL 1.2”, but all the /new/ content would be CC BY-SA just as well. Which would ease the future transition (if any.)
