13:17 smls Hi
13:18 smls I just submitted my first rosetta task: http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Brace_expansion
13:19 smls can someone look it over to see if its ok to remove the 'draft' tag?

15:03 mwn3d smls: we usually wait for multiple solutions from multiple authors before we take a task out of draft. That way we can be sure it's written correctly for a wider audience.
15:09 smls mwn3d: How will other contributers know that the task is ready for adding solutions?
15:10 mwn3d smls: there is a draft tasks category that users look at. People also watch for new pages to be created and edited. You'll see a link to the category at the bottom of the task. The recent changes page (linked on the left of every page) is a good thing to watch too.
15:11 mwn3d Our users lurk all over. They'll find it.
15:11 smls ok
15:15 mwn3d TimToady: that one came with a Perl solution. Think Perl 6 can do better? :p
15:32 ttmrichter smls: Looks like a fun task.  I'll tackle it with Prolog I think.
15:33 ttmrichter smls: Shouldn't your solution show all the test cases, though?
15:33 smls wouldn't that just result in unecessary duplication though?
15:33 smls if every solutiuon copy & pasted all test cases and their output
15:34 ttmrichter It demonstrates that your solution is really the solution, though, no?
15:42 mwn3d1 joined #rosettacode
15:42 smls ttmrichter: Well, I think that's implied
15:43 smls To really confirm that a solution does what it claims, one would have to download and run the code anyways.

15:44 smls Listing half a page of output isn't really more "proof" of anything than a simple sentence claiming that it does
15:45 smls are there any guidelines on the matter on rosettacode.org ?

15:49 smls mwn3d1, TimToady: Yeah, I'm actually pretty sure that Perl 6 can do better than Perl here, because of its support for regexes/grammars that give you a recursive AST, not to mention some meta-operators that would probably make the list transformations easier. But I'm not confident enough with Perl 6 yet to add the solution myself...

16:01 * smls .oO( Am I human? Because no matter how much I try, I can't pass the rosettacode CAPTCHA... )
16:03 smls In fact, when I reload the page I'm getting the same sequence of CAPTCHAs again as last time, and again none of them work. Thus I can't create a discussion page for my task, nor my user page... :(

16:32 TimToady I was just wondering whether you were working on it already :)
16:32 TimToady if you want me to work on it, I think it'd be fun
16:32 smls go ahead!
16:34 TimToady well, coffee first :)

17:48 TimToady oh wow, my grammar worked the first time, now I just need to X all the alternatives...
